    Iced Tres Leches Latte
    Rey F.

I've been here a couple of times and it's a really neat coffee shop located in the center of Roosevelt Collection. The atmosphere is cozy and has a clean, luxurious look to it. The barista was friendly and welcoming. I ordered an iced Tres Leches Latte and it was really good. They also sell bagged coffee here. Highly recommend and I'll definitely be back!

On my search for great coffee experiences, I came across this location. It's a very small coffee shop that specializes in a few drinks, including coffee/lattes and teas. I think this aspect gives them the chance to perfect their execution on these drinks. They also sell their own beans and tea, so you know it's a unique experience. I ordered the Maple Pecan Macchiato with half and half, and my theory proved correct. The drink was smooth, with subtle but noticeable notes of maple, Pecan, nutmeg, and cinnamon. It was like Christmas in a drink. Also, the drink did have pecan pieces inside as well, which reminded me of a few korean style teas i have had. They had a few other drink options I'd like to try out next time, and I think other coffee/latte lovers would enjoy this place.

So happy to stumble upon this quaint shop located at the Roosevelt collection . The staff is friendly and helpful ! The selection of tea and coffee is huge and I love that you can buy different sizes to try at home . Black owned and woman owned

We visited this cute and quaint coffee shop while waiting for the movie theater to open. Naturally, I arrived early for the movie because that's just who I am, and I shan't apologize for it. lol I saw this place, went in, and was greeted warmly by the cashier/barista. I ordered a small cold brew with vanilla and oat milk, and it was delicious! I will most definitely be back the next time I'm headed to the movies.

I stopped in here recently! Small location, but many wonderful offerings for both coffee and tea selections. Staff member ground my two coffee purchases for separate brewing machines-Drip and French Press. There is a table for two inside seating. Notably listed in Forbes Magazine for being one of the top 100-American Businesses in The United States! Women owned! Yay!!!! FYI-also known for their coffee subscriptions!

Stumbled upon this place while taking a detour in downtown Chicago. Walked into the shop and asked the kind barista what was really popular. It was highly recommended to try the Oatmilk Blueberry White Mocha. I ordered it hot. And the barista told me all their beans are roasted and infused with flavors and aromas. Wow the coffee was delicious. It was rich, flavorful, and perfectly sweet. I also found out this establishment was a black women owned business which I was proud to support.

I'm so happy I got to accidentally try so many of my saved places during my trip to Chicago! Chicago French Press is very close to my friend's apartment, and I was working from home earlier this week. I desperately needed coffee and ordered an iced blossom latte. It was delicious. The coffee flavor was very strong, and the blossom was such a nice touch. I would definitely visit again and understand why this is such a popular coffee shop. They have a lot of specialty drinks and specialize in French press coffee.

Delicious drinks and quick service. This quiet little black woman owned gem has nice outdoor seating perfect for the summer and bags of their coffees and teas for purchase. A great new find in the SL neighborhood!

Orange cream cold foam cold brew
    Johnfavour N.

This cafe has really unique flavors of coffee. In their iced coffees, instead of using normal ice, they put in a frozen block of French press coffee. While nice in theory, the French press cube is really large, and i drink my drinks really fast so I just end up with a large cube by the end of it, and less caffeine in my system due to the volume displacement of the large cube. I got the orange cream cold foam cold brew. It was unique and had a nice aroma with the dried orange slice at the top. The drink is on the sweeter side. However for a cold brew drink it typically is ready pretty quickly -- this drink took about 10-15 minutes to make even though there were only 1-2 other customers in the store. If you're in a rush I recommend not getting this drink. The store does have flavored coffee beans for you to make coffee at home, as well as cute cups/mugs/miscellaneous merchandise to purchase. The French press they had on display looked cool although a bit pricy. There are tables set up outside in the patio to enjoy your beverage and there are other stores to browse in the Roosevelt Collection. Our favorite is the Container Store. Chicago French Press does validate parking so parking in the garage is free up to 2 or 3 hours. Using the validation machine can be a bit tricky, I think you need to lay it flat and the machine should take the ticket in.

    Coconut lavender latte
    Lynette H.

Ordered an iced coconut lavender latte and was just in heaven. It was so good! I think they toast the coconut that they add to the top! They also have different milk options, regular, soy, almond. The decor is so cute inside-they've got some plants and flowers for sale and it's lovely to look at while you wait. There's also a big patio with tables and a fire pit. Only two tables have an umbrella for shade, wish there was more shade, since it was really sunny. But there's one toy of other spots to sit in at the RC-so not a big deal. The staff is really friendly and efficient! And since they validate I'm sure I'll be stopping by more often!

The churro donut was delicious and cinnamony - if you like sweet breakfasts, definitely get this! I really enjoyed the almojabana and the pan de bono. I liked the pan de bono so much, I even took a picture of the crumb to share with my mother, who is Colombian! The whiskey cold brew was an awesome drink rich in flavor. Even though it wasn't alcoholic, it had that iconic sweet whiskey taste. The cakes were solid and fluffy, and I especially liked the tiramisu. The croissant was very crispy and complemented the coffee well. I really like the crunch when I bit into it. The only prices they have on their menu are for the THC additions. I've mentioned this to the owner twice (he's a cool guy) but he has always sort of shrugged it off. It bothers me every time I'm in. Sometimes my latte with oat milk comes out different prices. Price transparency is so important for consistency . Not including the prices is a bit elitist, especially when the average drink is $6-$8. You should want folks to come in and comfortably order what they can afford. I hope this suggestion is taken into consideration. The drinks are good and like I said, I keep coming back but this has been a sticking point for me for a year plus.

It is so tempting to open them and start smelling, only the signs very nicely ask you not to. Wanting a break from dime-store coffee and tea (Folgers - no hate, it has a place), I decided to get something a little less "meh". Added bonus is that I am able to support a family business, as opposed to the Walton family and their associated shareholders. The staff at The Coffee & Tea Exchange was wonderful! They helped me select three different coffees to take home, speaking to the roasts and what makes them unique. I'd also like to award some bonus points for just the right grind of coffee for my reusable Keurig pods. My amazement does not stop at coffee, either - this also applies to teas. I went home with a few varieties of some of the more flavorful loose-leaf teas I've had! The kicker? The prices were very reasonable! True, it is not as cheap as a large can of Red or Blue coffee from the grocer's, but at the same time, not as expensive as something a corporation (maybe with a two-tailed siren??) has convinced you comes from a magical place called Seattle. Final verdict: My freshman year roommate had 4 open tubes of toothpaste because "variety is the spice of life." But after a few visits, it's just not for me…read more The first trip, I tried the Matari Tea: Green tea, Himalayan pink salt, milk, and spices, topped with roasted pistachios. Sounds good, right? Alas, it could not have been blander. I couldn't taste any "spices" or even the hint of salt. The profile was that of very watered-down tea mixed with milk, and a ton of pistachios floating on top. Like, barely crushed pistachios. Huge pieces, covering the top of the drink, bobbed around like tiny icebergs, and even they somehow had a toned-down flavor. The drink was definitely a swing and a miss. Fast forward two weeks, and I tried Matari again. This time with a simple cortado. I sat at the table right by the door, and the espresso was pretty good. Solid body, not too bitter. It was on the pricy side ($7+), but I was ok with that. But then, I'm hanging out, sipping my coffee, and I catch a burst of perfume-like scent. I'm shocked, but whatever, I figured someone in heavy perfume walked by, no big deal. A few minutes later, wham, I'm hit in the nose with another burst of perfume. Then, I see it. A slight haze around me. So, not a heavily perfumed woman after all, but an automated air-freshener. After further inspection, I see the unit plugged in on the ground right behind my chair, which sprays up and out on a timer. That's right, an air freshener right next to a table where people consume food and beverages, shooting a mist into the air that slowly rains down onto my head and table, and into my coffee. I ended up tossing the last few sips of my cortado, as I could taste the scented whatever-it-was in my cup. I'd have gone to the counter and asked for a new one, but I was so over my visit by then, I just opted to get out. The staff aren't very friendly. Not rude, but they don't give off a welcoming aura, and I didn't feel like trying to explain the issue. Lastly, can we talk about their little "your order is up" beepers? We've all seen them. The little electronic things that blink and make a noise when your order is ready, so you can go snag it from the counter. When I think of a coffee shop, I think quiet and peaceful, or perhaps a bit louder, with bustling people and well-paired music. At Matari, it's an insane BEEP BEEP BEEP that goes off every few minutes when an order is up. I get it, you don't want to bring the food out to your customers. But does it really need to feel like an airport Chili's? It's a bummer, because Matari is beautiful inside. It's clean, it's chic, and its location is at a notable crossroads in Skokie with plenty of parking, leaving it extremely convenient. They've even got an easy-to-use website, which so many coffee shops simply do not have. There aren't a lot of coffee shops in this particular part of town, which is why I so, so very much wanted to love Matari. But subpar drinks? Air freshener spray intrusions? Frequent and obnoxious beeping? I tried. I'm sorry. I just can't.

I would give Matari 4.5 out of 5 stars, so I'm rounding to 5 based on service and ambiance! I heard…read moreabout their fruit mousse cakes online, so we knew we had to stop by to check it out. I wish they had signs explaining what each pastry was so I could have decided while waiting in line. We ended up sharing an iced pistachio latte (delicious and 10/10!), the pistachio cheesecake (10/10!), and the strawberry mousse cake (7/10 - a subtle sweetness, great texture, but needed more cake or crust inside as it was mostly whipped cream and the shell). The mousse cake was $12.00, which felt steep considering it was mostly whipped cream, even though it was obviously beautiful. We would definitely come back for the coffee and to try more menu items! With that in mind, the phrase "Happy Monday!" is an oxymoron, even though I send it every week in the Teams chat. Something that helps fight the Monday blues? Coffee! Yet, despite their oxymoronic name, Happy Monday Coffee is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. As someone who doesn't often make coffee runs during the workday, this means my coffee time is relegated to lunch. Some more expanded hours would be helpful not only to me and others like me but also to boost business. Where the coffee itself is concerned, I love the creativity displayed in the latte selections. Even as someone who is not a big latte lover, this is the kind of beverage I always get here. Are these the greatest things ever? No. However, I can't fault them too much, as lattes by design hide the bite of espresso under milk and often sugar. The vibe inside is relaxed and modern-boho, with a tasteful DJ set playing at a reasonable volume on the flatscreen. While I always take my coffee to go, it seems like a comfortable place to relax with a cup for a bit. Finally, I want to give credit to the service. While there isn't often a long line, service is consistently friendly, welcoming, and fast. Their prices aren't the cheapest around, but they are in line with what I'd expect for premium beverages in a high-traffic, downtown area. Final Verdict: Does Happy Monday have the best coffee anywhere that has me stopping in religiously?
