Vietfive is a very chill place to work and enjoy a nice cup of their Vietnamese coffee or whatever other tea drinks you'd like to enjoy! I particularly enjoyed the Matcha Mango Refresher, and am excited to try more of their tea options! Their banh mi (I got the pork one, but they also offer chicken and veggie) was delicious and fresh. The baguette was crisp with a soft pillowy center that cushioned the crunchy veggies and tender meat perfectly. The presentation is also nice on a wood board, adding a rustic feel to an already vibey spot. I stopped in Vietfive for a couple of hours on a Saturday morning to knit and relax. At around 9:30am, it wasn't too busy at all. Around 11am, there was a rush and no more tables available for people to sit. With a couch and a few coffee tables, there is a decent amount of seating, but it goes quickly. Overall, Vietfive was a great place to stop for a morning work. I was able to get a lot of knitting done and finished an audiobook, but I also saw a couple of people working on laptops! It was chill, bright, and the staff was very helpful! Highly recommend!

Although their ca phê trung was good, everything else was not. We ordered an iced VietFive latte without flavoring and it just tasted like watered down coffee, didn't even taste strong enough to consider it coffee. The combo bánh mì was good but I was not a fan of the xa xiu chicken bánh mì . Too much pepper and something in it was wayyy too salty. We waited almost 40 minutes for our banh mi because the workers didn't hear that the order came in. They were too busy changing the songs playing to pay attention. They gave us mochi donuts as an apology.
Ordered Vietfive Coffee for my work team through Uber Eats to our office in the Loop, and everyone really enjoyed their drinks and pastries! We tried a variety including Ube Horchata Lattes, matcha lattes, and teas--all were fun and flavorful. I got the Ube Horchata Latte, which I enjoyed, though I could have ordered the smaller size since it was extremely sweet and very much a dessert drink. We also got the mango peach puffs, which were delicious. It's a great spot for unique, indulgent coffee drinks that feel like a treat. Would definitely order again!

I love the vegetarian choices available. My drink came out quickly and my food took a little bit longer but the staff member, Minesha I think, let me know they were making fresh rice. She was incredibly warm and helpful. Hey energy just made everything so much more pleasant plus she knew so much about the food and drink and helped folks make decisions without being pushy. I feel like everything was good quality and a good value. I'll be back whenever I'm in the neighborhood!

This is definitely a local hangout with people conversing on the couch or had their laptops out on the bistro patio type tables. The coffee is great! It's shaken which helps distribute the condensed milk (I asked for a little extra and they obliged with a smile). The food: The banh mi was good, the bread is the star. The empanada was okay/good, unfortunately the chicken was a little dry. So overall a solid place if you're in the hood. I would definitely be back for my Vietnamese coffee fix.
My wife and I stopped by Vietfive Coffee for a coffee run on our recent trip to Chicago. Vietfive Coffee is very aesthetic inside and is the perfect spot for those that want to snap photos for Instagram. We shared one of their large egg coffee beverages. I've had egg coffee a handful of times -- in Vietnam and also in the San Francisco Bay Area, and generally, I'm prepared for how sweet the drink will be. The egg coffee here is definitely on the sweeter side. I appreciate how strong the coffee is, but finishing a large size egg coffee is quite an endeavor and you'll certainly be on a sugar high for the rest of your day. In addition to drinks, Vietfive also offers a wide selection of savory pastries in their pastry case. I was eyeing their banh mi empanada, but made the mistake of grabbing breakfast nearby earlier in the morning. Definitely need to stop by again to try out the food.

Coffees were good. Ambience was great. We love the accessible signage and sound/ear protection. Sign language signs around. Vietnamese children's books. Love all that. Coconut coffee was very yummy. Not too coconut for those worried about too strong of a flavor. I enjoyed it more than the Viet iced coffee and I don't "love" coconut. Just gave it a good twist Banh mi wasn't great if you're looking for traditional. Their bread was almost like a ciabatta bread? It was untoasted as well (not sure if you had to ask for it toasted). read more
got the ca phe trung (egg coffee) and thought it was okay. i think that the coffee wasn't as strong as the vietnamese coffee i'm used too are. the coffee was good, sweet from the condensed milk and still had a nice flavor. the egg cream on top was kinda ehh as well. the flavor wasn't really strong or egg-y. i typically like my egg creamtop to be stronger and pack a punch. overall, the store is super cute and love all the decor. lots of references to vietnam which i love and would be a nice place to study at!! i do think that their coffees are not as strong or intense as a typical vietnamese coffees are (still stronger than most lattes lol), but was still okay yummy rating: 7/10 read more

(W)ow - Such an adorable interior design and pink/red theme - the pink ladder and red scooter were perfect Valentines day touches (A)ge - mostly 20s, students or working adults with laptops (M)enu - I got the hot ube latte, which was the only drink available in decaf! Came to this store for a sponsored event but this review is on the items I purchased separately. Very cute cafe. Upon learning the family connection to Vietnam, I had to purchase some of the coffee beans. The beans are sourced from the owner's family in Vietnam but roasted here in Chicago. I am so impressed with the coffee beans (red package) that I purchased. The price was reasonable at only $15 for 12 oz. Check them out, they have some delicious sandwiches and empanadas. I will be back to get a nice ice cold Vietnamese coffee. read more
Returned for the second time a year later. This time I tried the caphe which is the standard viet coffee with condense milk- it tasted more like very rich black coffee with condensed milk than viet coffee. The egg coffee was nice and different since it's whipped and create a layer of foam at the top. We also tried the pate with beef- the seasoning is tasty and taste like the dumpling season, the outside flaky pastry layer wasn't crispy enough but since they put it in the warmer, it probably got a bit soggy. The banh mi original was decent but not as good as lotus. The sauce is just sweet and salty- not really the typical banh mi flavor but maybe thats their twist? overall we enjoyed our visit to this cafe- the owner is friendly and took the time to explain the menu snd the origin of the food and flavor. read more

Husband and I were in Chicago for a weekend trip and stopped at Vietfive while walking around our neighborhood! Really liked the vibe of the shop - one of the owners was behind the counter and super nicely answered all of our questions about everything. We ended up getting an Ube latte, their seasonal pineapple coffee, an Asian pork empanada and a mochi donut. The coffees were great - the ube wasn't overpoweringly sweet. The pineapple coffee was awesome and so unique - really brought out the fruitiness. The empanada for breakfast was also really fun - very meat-filled and the hoisin sauce on the side was nice. The mochi donut was OK - could have been a little more fresh. Overall, really nice spot with friendly people and a fun menu! They also offer specials to locals in the neighborhood which is super cool. read more

A cool Vietnamese coffee shop in West Loop. We came for the coffee but were more impressed by the food. The staff was also super friendly and attentive. If you're looking for Instagram pictures, this is the place as well. They have a moped in main area and everything is brightly colored. We ordered: - Ca Phe w/condensed milk - Ube Latte - Xa Xiu Pork (Empanadas) The Ube Latte was good, but the Ca Phe was better in my opinion. Definitely try one of the empanadas as well, it's essentially the ban mi filling. So good. read more

I only tried a basic black coffee, and while the flavor wasn't totally my thing, I'm still a fan of this place overall. It's family-owned, has beautiful aesthetics, and is rooted in a strong mission - plus, there's a unique accessibility initiative! If you suggest ideas to help improve access, they'll give you a free drink! That really stood out. They've also got fun, creative drinks, light bites, and plenty of seating. Got the classics. Ube latte, classic banh mi sandwich, and bbq pork empanada. Service was great. The empanadas are usually sitting the warmer but there happened to be a fresh batch of the bbq pork coming out so I managed to snag a piping hot one to munch while I waited for my other items. The inside had cubed bbq pork, some sliced caramelized carrots and cilantro. I really enjoyed the bits of cilantro which added depth to the flavor. The edges were crispy. The iced ube latte came next. I sipped it before stirring and the robusta coffee was strong and a bit bitter but once the ube was mixed in, it was well balanced and nutty. The banh mi took a little longer to assemble but came out fresh and toasted, cut in half with each half individually wrapped with foil. The space has lots of seating options from bar to table to sofa. Has a corner for their merch and coffee beans. And near the cashier there's also a small snack stand for Asian goodies. read more

Iced beverages here are way better than the hot ones, just keep that in mind when ordering. The donut pastry was delicious and so was empanada. Cute vibe. They had a sign out front that says "Have you tried our ube?" So of course I had to stop by. I ordered the Ube latte for about $7 which isn't bad. Their non dairy milk is a mix of oat and coconut which is interesting. The latte was decent! Wait time was about 5 minutes as they were very busy at 11:30 AM. A nice location in a quieter part of the West Loop area. There are a few paid street parking spots out front and a few spaces inside to work/sit. I've been here twice and met the owner once - he was really kind and welcoming! My favorite drink is the Ube latte - it's very well-bodied and the Ube flavor is perfect. I recently got the Vietnamese Coffee (Ca Phe) with Condensed Milk and unfortunately, this was not my favorite. I've had a lot of Vietnamese coffees and this just didn't taste like what I've had in the past. The coffee lacked flavor as it tasted watered down and there was very little sweetness/creaminess in the condensed milk. I'd probably pass on this. They also offer Banh Mi sandwiches and puff pastries if you need a bite while you're here! read more

I've decided that Vietfive is now in my top favorite coffee shops. After my first visit there, I was hooked! The coffee is delicious and strong and the owner and employees are so nice. I've come to learn that a great coffee shop must have 1. comfy seating arrangements and 2. strong delicious coffee. This place has both and even more positives that come with it. Great place for Viet coffees. I've only tried the egg coffee and it hits the spot - the egg is creamy and the coffee has the right amount of sweetness. Definitely super caffeinated (in a good way). The ube latte looks amazing, would love to go back and try it. Service is friendly as well, but slightly pricey for its sizes. read more
