Update: I hired Oliver with Olivers flooring (773) 587-7571 to work on my ugly old stair issue…read more Oliver removed the old crunchy carpet and we realized that the stairs were pretty old and had a lot of glue, paint, staples, nails etc. the best option would be to install new risers and treads, including replacing the landing. He also raised the landing as it was too low and removed the short railing. Oliver did such a fantastic job. My stairs look beautiful. Oliver was easy to work with, prompt, extremely detailed and kept a very clean site. He matched the stairs perfectly with the newly installed flooring in the rest of the house. I would highly recommend him for anyone's flooring needs. He is a perfectionist, takes a lot of pride in his work and is an overall nice person. Anytime I tried to reach the company, "Johnny J" (owner) always answered, friendly as could be. He explained the process from beginning to end, starting with why the wood needs a couple days in the home before installation. I don't know much about installing floors but I really felt like he was doing it right and not rushing to make the sale or get it done. The workers were fast and meticulous when it came to their work and cleanliness. I paid a extra to have them rip out the carpet, something I could have done my own, but nice to have someone else do for you and haul it away. Choosing a color stain was a challenge and I probably annoyed "Johnny" with my indecision, but ultimately with his advice I chose the best color for my home. Dogs and Hardwood Floors... I have TWO large dogs and they are rough on the floors but you would never know it. They've held up beautifully and again, Johnny's experience came into play as he consulted me with what finish to go with that would show the least amount a "dog nail" wear and tear. If you're in the market or having a tough time picking between two installers, I don't think you can go wrong with All American Hardwood Floors. They were not the cheapest bid I received and the were not the most expensive... I shopped around and they were extremely competitive. The owner seems like a very respectable hardworking family man. so glad we listened to all the great yelp reviews and connected with kevin. my husband and i…read morerecently moved into our house where the carpet reeked of cat urine and the smell would not go away no matter how many times we had professional cleaning done. so we decided to get rid of the carpet and install new ones. kevin came by with multiple samples and explained the pros/cons of each material. we got a reasonable quote and decided to move forward. the style we ended up choosing went out of stock but the one he recommended in lieu of it was even better! our installation was scheduled for two weeks later. my only qualm was that on the day of, we were expecting it to start in the morning but they didn't arrive until between noon and 1. it seemed their last job took longer than expected. they ended up finishing a little before 4. so roughly 3 hours to uninstall/install for 600 sq ft of carpet. kevin typically stops by for a follow-up, which we had to schedule and he said all looked good. and the best part is that the cat urine smell is gone!
