Please avoid this business. The owner, Lenny Santora is incredibly RUDE. After completing a wood flooring project, he called to go over the bill, which was incorrect- He then yelled at me for questioning him. He was wrong. Never apologized or thanked me. No one should be treated that way. During the project, we were assured there would be no varnish on day one and we could sleep at home. We were surprised to find that they did varnish on day one and we had to scramble to find housing for our family of 6 on such short notice. Hired Santora and they came to show samples. A week later we asked for some additional samples which they special ordered and dropped off. It was great service. We then decided to work with Santora and that's when disappointment began. We gave them a few days that worked for us and never heard back. We had to call and ask when we were/if we were scheduled! On the scheduled day on install; the crew was over two hours later than the time they gave (8-9am) and didn't arrive until almost 11am. When calling was told they were running a little late-- they DID NOT CALL US, we called them. Once they arrived they did the whole houses carpet as we had expected. Upon completion we noticed many scratches on our baseboards, and on the walls, ceiling and railing of our stairwell. This was immediately after Christmas so we were busy and didn't call to discuss the damage until end of January. (Had a new baby come in that time as well). We provided photos of the issues and informed them the following "the worst areas are in the stairwell areas where they likely pulled the carpet up the stairs and scratched paint. There are also lots of nicks in baseboards but we didn't take photos of every one. We had paint done on 11/7/17 (~40 days prior to carpet install); so this isn't wear and tear on our house/paint! And we aren't talking about where paint was pulled up from The carpet being pulled up. We knew and expected that but didn't expect walls and under-sides of ceiling and corners to get scraped. I needed low cost budget friendly carpet for a house I was looking to sell. My carpet needed replacement and I didn't want to invest a lot of money into new carpet. As a referral from my agent I reached out to Santora Carpet. Lenny Jr. came to the house measured and provided and estimate on the spot. At the time he provided the estimate, it seemed low but also reasonable. After installation I now know why it was so low. When Santora Carpet finished the installation I noticed many scratches on our baseboards, trim work, walls, and railing of our stairwell. The scope of work conveniently discloses they are not liable to damages incurred during carpet installation. If you're looking for cheap carpet and damaged walls Santora Carpet is your installer. I'd recommend Santora, especially for anyone who is budget conscious. The installation crew just finished in one day. They did a nice job. It took 2 weeks from order to installation. I think the salesman (Lenny Jr). Took about 30 minutes to measure and quote cost. Unlike some competitors, they don't overcomplicate things. The billing was accurate. Although they do not promise removal of squeaks in the floor, they fixed the flooring We ordered the Exceptional carpet 2, which is a lower priced brand. The carpet has a 15 year warranty. Unfortunately,poor communication with Len and Lenny. Each told us something different re how long we will have to be out of the house. My normally very mild-mannered boyfriend actually got into a shouting match on the phone and no attempt by either Len or Lenny to take partial ownership of the confusion. I have to reverse my 5-star rating from January 2019. I will never use them again and I will stop recommending them. In fact, I've called the people that I did recommend and told them to not use Santora. We did the majority of our house in January 2019 and everything was wonderful. We didn't have to pay until Lenny Jr. came out and we confirmed that we were happy with everything. A few months later we had them back for a bathroom. They never did give us a written quote but we went with the verbal quote. They completed the job and we had to call Lenny Sr. and ask him to send us a bill as we had no idea how much we owed him. He seemed irritated that we hadn't already paid him but we never had a written quote/estimate. We now decided to have them back to do our master bedroom and bath. We felt we had to go with them because we have an open concept and wanted the floor to be the same. Lenny Jr. came out and measured. Then we decided we wanted to make a change and we couldn't get Lenny Sr. to respond to our request. So, I finally sent him an email and calculated the per square foot price and sent to him for approval. They were very difficult to work with. Install day came and the installers were over an hour late with no call to let us know. It seems like they feel the customer's time isn't valuable. We loved the first install team but we did not like this team. If we had them first then Santora would not have gotten another dime from us. We were also required to give payment to the installers and not wait for Lenny Jr. to come out. We had some issues with the work they did. Lenny Jr. came back and danced around the issues and made us feel like we were being picky. Also, the installers didn't know everything they were supposed to do. He agreed to fix one thing but not the 2 others. He took his mallet to pound down the floor instead of replacing it. Lenny Jr. was going to come back to fix it himself. Halfway through, his nail gun jammed up and he was going to have to come back. He left his charger here. The first time he didn't show because he had neglected to put it on his calendar. The second time he was late. He's now stopped showing up and stopped calling. We are going to file a complaint with BBB and hire someone to fix the job they messed up. We have used Santora Carpets 3 times in just over 2 years. Lenny Santora was a referral from a friend, he had done all the floors in their house and they raved about him. Lenny Jr came out to show us samples and review pricing. He's great, friendly and profession. Everyone in my house (myself, mother and husband) all enjoy talking to him. Our first job was carpeting the nursery for our son that was due a month later. In this room there was an issue with a drain grate in the floor. When they installed the floor they covered the drain, even though it was discussed previously that they could work around it. I called Lenny and the next day someone came out and fixed it asap. He did not blow off our issue. A month later we flooded (our bedroom and the nursery were in the lower level/basement). We lost all of our brand new carpet. Lenny worked with us on getting new flooring, this time we used tile and also put it in our room. It wasn't his fault that the carpet was ruined but he helped us with the cost and they came out asap for installation. This time there was no issue with the drain. About a year later we bought new carpet for our living room. Again, great experience with Lenny Jr. and the installation team. I always move as much as I can and they took care of the rest and put everything back. They even helped us move some couches from our garage to the living room. We were swapping out what we had for some nicer used ones. That was not normal practice for them but I spoke with Lenny about it and got his approval. In the next 2 years we are hoping to redo all flooring in our house, room by room, and have full intention of using Santora Carpets. You really can not beat their prices. Santora Carpets did a great job with our flooring and carpeting. Good prices, good selection. What really wowed me was their customer service. A month after the installation, I noticed that the transition piece between the bathroom tile and bedroom carpeting was loose. I called Lenny, the owner, who told me that someone would be over to fix it. That afternoon, Eddy arrived. I was not home, but my husband was. Eddy checked out the problem and told my husband that Santora had note done that piece of work, but the contractor who did the bathroom rehab did. My husband had not been involved with this project and didn't have a clue as to who did what. Eddy, then told my husband. "Not to worry, I'll fix it". When I arrived home, Eddy talked to me about the "fix". He had to make a temporary fix but it would take care of the problem for the moment. However, he would be back the following day to make it right. And, he was good to his word. Problem fixed! This is awesome customer service. Fixing something that was someone else's mistake. The owner, Lenny, is very rude and unresponsive. He needs an attitude adjustment. I can't imagine how he talks to/treats his employees-- SCARY! While I feel they have great pricing compared to others, the way he treats his customers is horrible and makes me want to pay more for carpet somewhere else where they treat people with dignity and respect. Awesome work and awesome quality carpet. Saw some bad reviews and I had nothing of the sort. Came recommended by a friend after I finished my basement. My carpenters were extremely impressed with how well they were able to cover a raised platform making it look absolutely seamless. They also did a bed room that had brand new trim and painted walls and not so much as a scuff on any of it. (I scheduled my painter to come do final touch ups after everything was done because you have to expect some minor scratches and scuffs on walls due to the job that is being done but I could not find any damage.) Lenny was awesome! Very friendly and was able to order and install it quickly. Will be doing the rest of my house soon and no doubt will be using them! read more

The carpet prices and workmanship were good but unfortunately stopped there. Had them do our hardwood floors, we could see bear spots the guys didn't get polyurethane on, the worker said he did under the fridge 1st and that it was all dry but insisted we don't touch it so it wouldn't scratch other floors. Sure enough, had to pull the fridge out months later for an issue...never did the hardwood under the fridge at all!! The worst part was they wouldn't call you back for weeks and when the owner finally came over he was so argumentative and confrontational I couldn't wait to get him out of the house. We had a recommendation for Santora to do our floors and carpet They came out to give us an estimate, the estimate was vague, hard to understand. We tried to communicate many times on what we asked for with Lenny Sr and Lenny Jr. They always just said that it would be just fine. Lenny Jr came out because we were not sure of the measurements, he remeasured and said that he was 99% positive that all was good and it would be just fine. Lenny Sr said that the floor was on back order, but not to worry as he had many installers and it would be in in a few days. Lenny Jr said that he would get our carpet done in three days. We have waited for two months and Lenny Sr finally said that he is just too busy. He told us to get another estimate ----------------- we will, happy not to do business with them. read more

My wife and I were turned on to Santora Carpets by our realtor, who suggested we replace some of the carpeting in our home before listing. Lenny Jr. was over our home the next day that we were available. He helped us match the replacement carpeting to our existing and provided us with an absurdly low quote. We scheduled the installation and haul-away for the following Saturday. Nick arrived promptly, despite the near apocalyptic rainfall, with a smile on his face. He made short work of the stairs and living room and made sure that our home and garage were free of scraps, clippings, etc. Basically it was as if he was never there and the new carpet just appeared magically overnight. Despite confirming the order, he did not order any carpet for weeks which resulted in delays! For the $$$ I was paying, I expected above and beyond service and this guy was not even close. Very unreliable. They were supposed to come out yesterday at 8am to give us an estimate on stretching our carpet(we have a few minor ripples) 8:45 I called after no one showed up. They just said they were running late because they lost the keys to their truck. A phone call would have been nice. But ok things happen. I hired Santora Carpet from a recommendation. Santora told me I'd have the carpet in a week, it took 2 weeks. The carpet sample appeared better than the one that was delivered. With no phone call they were 2 hours late for installation, I had to call and ask when they were coming. I paid with a credit card and asked that they send me a statement of my purchase. I waited a week, and had to call again, and waited a week, and asked the person who recommended them to call, they called/texted, and still no statement. I called my credit card company and put in a dispute, I then received a copy of my statement via email. read more

This is my first review on yelp. That's how bad my experience with Lenny Santora was. The end result of my interaction with this company was that the owner, Lenny Santora, yelled at me over the phone and then hung up on me, after a misunderstanding that resulted in him not doing the job he had agreed to do. There was a misunderstanding. I don't believe Lenny lied intentionally, but he was negligent in his handling of the misunderstanding. He was also ruder than I have ever encountered an owner of a small business to be. I have never been yelled at over the phone by an owner of a business for a mistake they made. Here are the details, if you care to read on. Lenny was a recommendation from a friend, largely because of how reasonably priced he is. I called and spoke with Lenny about doing the flooring in my condo. When I spoke with him I told him there was asbestos tile in my condo. This was a fact I mentioned to every flooring provider when I called, because I knew it was a deal breaker for some flooring guys. I had been told by at least one provider that they would not do the job because it involved asbestos tile. I totally respect that and get it. I just need to know that upfront. Fast forward, after my conversation with Lenny, he sent a guy out to my place to provide me with a bid and I hired him to do the job. My first issue: He last minute changed the date he had agreed to do the job, because he did not have the materials in stock. It would have been nice to know that up front, but not a big deal to me at the time. We rescheduled for 2 weeks later. My second issue: When his crew showed up and I reminded them about the asbestos tile, they did not know about the asbestos tile. As a result, they called Lenny and Lenny refused to do the job over liability concerns. I was frustrated because I had told Lenny about the asbestos tile when we first spoke. When Lenny refused to do the job, I spoke with him over the phone and his crew was present. He told me I needed to either get the tile removed or get the building engineer's approval. He said he could get sued and lose his business for doing the job. I was frustrated, but I understand he has to protect himself and his company. I just wished he would have told me that up front and saved me (and his company) a lot of time and hassle. I had set aside a Saturday to get this accomplished and had done a good amount of legwork to get this job ready (including rescheduling everything because of Lenny's issue with having materials in stock, and packing my things so they could be easily moved). Lenny's crew was very nice and professional and they moved my furniture back in place (after having moved it out of the way in preparation for removing the flooring). They did, however, seem to not know the details of the job or the fact that the quote included baseboard. However, they were very nice. I just think there was a gap in communication within the company. Shortly after his crew left and I had my initial conversation with Lenny about not doing the job, Lenny called me back and yelled at me over the phone. He was upset because his crew and his company lost a day's work. He lectured me on this fact. It was as if he suddenly flipped a switch and lost his temper and felt the need to call me and give me a piece of his mind. After yelling at me, I told him that I had told him about the asbestos tile and that I didn't appreciate giving up a Saturday to have them leave the job. He told me I had not told them about the tile and then hung up on me. Unprofessional. This guy will beat any price, but his lack of professionalism and ethics is not worth it. There is a reason he competes on price. You get what you pay for (or don't get what you agreed to pay for, in my case). Also, the guy who comes out to your place to give you the quote is also not the most professional. He is nice enough, but a talker who is hard to interact with. I would not have written this review if Lenny had not called me back and yelled at me over the phone. I could not believe he did that. It was not right of him to do that. Further, it was his mistake. I was willing to let it go because it was a misunderstanding and these things happen, I don't believe he was intentional in lying about it. However, his yelling and hanging up on me was rude and uncalled for, I believe anyone considering using his company has a right to know that this is the type of person they are going to be dealing with and giving their business to.
