I am trying to eat better maybe so went with the gyro. I was able to get to Bugsy's a little after 6pm which is key since they close a7pm. Only person in the place was Bugsy. Took my order and then sent me to go grab a seat. Since the place was empty that was easy. In about 10-15 minutes a very hot huge gyro and plate of fries shows up. Wow. I ate all the gyro but barely made a dent in the fries. The taziki (misspelled I know) sauce was delicious. The gyro was full of meat cooked so fine. Now the decor? Wow this place is retro. Definitely a Chicago fan also. Lots of memorabilia and stuff on the wall. The place is bright also. Bugsy is old school so not a chatter but efficient and effective. His restaurant is just like him. Old school perfection. No bull just dogs and gyros and home cut fries. An awesome trip back to the past. Short on glitz but huge on taste which is what counts.

All of the above can be ordered with various fixins like bacon, veggies, sauces, jams, and several cheese choices. There's also soup, fries, onion rings, and other sides. You can't go wrong with the Silverback Gorilla Bowl--mac & cheese, bacon, and crispy fried onion--or the Figgy Stardust, which is a burger with fig jam, bacon, goat cheese, and balsamic glaze. Heck yeah it's messy, but they've got napkins! The best part of Steve's? It's a cool bar with good draft beer, cocktails, mocktails, and sodas and such, fantastic vibes, and awesome people. And the owners do great things in the community, so it feels good to drop some change there.

We were taking to-go as we had one more stop to make on the way home. He took our order at the counter and answered a few questions with ease and a great attitude. Beyond the chili cheese fries, I ordered a hot dog plain with a side of the smokey, pepper mustard I love. I took a bite of the hotdog before I put it away for my next days lunch. We tried the chili cheese fries, and they were really good. I like the chili and could order that on its own. We know Steve's has the best fries! Next time I will get my hotdog with fries and a cup of chili to eat and dunk the fries in!

Looks like they have been around for a long time and the k terror is covered with signed headshots of old tv personalities. The hot dogs all looked good, so I tried the Big Herm dog, which is a footling version of the Chicago dog. It comes in 2 regular buns and was cut in half, so basically 2 of the regular. It was tasty, hot and covered in all of the right Chicago dog toppings! Wonderful, and clearly what this place is known for! The fries and drink were not as good. Lemonade tasted like a mix and was super sweet and the fries were super salty. If it wasn't for ketchup, I'm not sure I could have eaten them. Almost everyone I saw in there got cheese sauce on theirs, and I wonder now if it was to cover the salt taste. Fun place to try, and clearly a part of local history.

Unlike others, I think Dog On It is actually easy enough to find; there is a cheerful, striped awning and a couple of tables with stools. There is no inside beyond the kitchen. A two for one meal deal on Groupon ($11 instead of $23) brought us here for a mid-week lunch. We ordered ahead and were told it would be ready in 20 minutes. We arrived to pick up at the 18 minute mark and our meals were ready for us. The only drinks available were a bottle of water, Coke, and Diet Coke. A meal is a drink, fries, and the hotdog. Oddly, I think the hot dogs are worth their price, but the combos are really not a deal. I would buy my drink elsewhere. I ordered the Mac Dog and my partner ordered the Philly Dog. The Macaroni and Cheese on the Mac Dog was tasty and they allowed me to substitute the Bacon (I'm just not a fan) for Grilled Onions. We both loved the hotdogs and thought they were incredible quality for what is essentially street food. Our biggest issue was the buns. They were smaller than the actual fixings really required and their spongy consistency did not really hold up to the eating process. They were too soft and weak. These are the same hot dog buns you would buy on a trip to Walmart. The fries had great seasonings/salt, but something about them makes that seasoning just fall off. I had the Harvest Dog with some red hot riplets. The hotdog was the perfect amount of salty and sweet! It was fresh, warm and flavorful. There is a lot on the menu that I still need to try. As for location, it was not the easiest to find, but it is located right across the street from grace and meat! It has a cute take out window and the guy behind the window was friendly and inviting! I've tried most of the menu when it comes to that side of this place. My boyfriend tried it for the first time, and got an order of fried dumplings that he really enjoyed! I always order my Korean corn dogs with extra ketchup and mustard on top, and they did not disappoint. The workers are pretty friendly, and I always look forward to hanging out in this fun restaurant! Can't wait to go back already!
