This Bloomingdale bakery is known for their Dossants upon many other items. They had a wide variety of items from cakes, cannolis, italian cookies, pastries, and pizza. Their hours of operation are a bit limited so I recommend checking they are open before driving over. We tried their Cannoli & Nutella Dossant. Both had soft "donut" outsides and creamy filling. Here's an update, as the years have gone by the quality has gone down, and the bakery is selling stale cakes and pastries. I ordered a cake and was given a cake that was a few days old. Today I went in and all the pastries I bought were stale, at $4 to $6 a pop that's high robbery. I used to love coming to this bakery, not anymore. The customer service was awful, and the ladies behind the counter are rude beyond measure. read more

I saw some positive reviews on this place so I thought I would give them a try. I purchased 2 coffee strip cakes and was really disappointed. The apple one has tasty apples on top but the rest of it was bland, chewy and undercooked. The cheese one with fruit topping was also tasteless and undercooked. On top of that, the prices for both were about $14 each plus their credit card fee!!! Went to Jewel and got two coffee strip cakes for $10 and they were great. I would avoid this place. read more

Came here on a whim because I saw the sign and I was feeling like something sweet after breakfast. Nice little hidden gem off of Roselle road! Lots of delicious options here!!. Sadly they didn't have any Boston cream donuts, but they had many other options! It was a little chaotic this morning and a little bit unorganized, I think they were short staffed as well. Twas' my birthday recently and I popped in for 18 of their dossants (the donut/croissant hybrid) and WOW -- everyone in the office confirmed these were some of the best 'donuts' they ever had, haha... The order was placed in advance and ready when I walked in. Very pleased with all their baked items, as Bloomindale/Roselle/Schaumburg don't have other great bakeries. This is such a cute little bakery and it looks like it's nestled in an old time village from the parking lot. Speaking of parking, the lots has a couple spaces near the front door - beware they are at such a weird angle. Luckily, it wasn't too busy when I stopped by on an early Saturday afternoon so I could get out. But I could only imagine a busy morning and there could be a real bottleneck situation. Be sure to pull really hard on the outer door, it sticks and if there hadn't been a sign to "pull hard" I might have turned away thinking they were closed. The cases are filled with delicious looking goodies. I ordered an assortment of dessert items - 2 chocolate (filled with butter cream mixing) decorated cupcakes, 1 chocolate cannoli and 2 chocolate covered strawberries. I tried a little bite of the cannoli and it was good- the chocolate chip filling had ample mini chocolate chips in it. Later, I tried half of the filled cupcake and it just OK. It was decorated really cute with a plastic pick of beach sandals and of sunglasses. Like a little "relax at the beach". It really didn't have much flavor (the cake or the buttercream frosting). I really wanted to love it more. I haven't tried the chocolate covered strawberry yet but how can you mess that up. I'm sure it will be good. Overall it was adequate. The items certainly looked a little better than they tasted. They had a good assortment to choose from when I stopped in around 11:00 am. I wanted to love it a little bit more. read more

I've been a customer at this bakery for 10 years. I've purchased every cake for every life event (birthdays, baptisms, etc.) from this bakery. Upon responding to the bakery, to place a custom order for my twins birthday, an employee snapped at me to "watch my son" who has an Autism Spectrum Disorder and was rocking back and forth. He was not running about the store, causing any issues. I ignored her and continued placing my order. That should have been a sign that the customer service has decreased over time. The day I arrived to the bakery, I was told my order was never made. I had minimal time before the start of the party and was hoping they would offer a reasonable solution. The store employee advised she could make the cupcakes which was not reasonable to expect me to be late to my kids' party, while a customer order of 36 cupcakes were made. I left the bakery empty-handed. Two days later, I decided to email customer service advising how I was dissatisfied with the service and believe they should have reached out to me to offer an apology. "Customer Service" who signs their emails "Customer Service" put the blame on me, stating that they could have made the cupcakes in 15 minutes but I chose not to wait. The customer service rep alleged to have been on the phone listening to the conversation between the staff and I who never provided a time frame of 15 minutes. I paid $100 for cupcakes that could be produced in 15 minutes? If this person was on the phone, why didn't they speak with me instead of having their young retail store employees have to navigate this situation. I was extremely disappointed in my experience and was hopeful to resolve the issue but their response was exactly what I needed to hear to never do business with them again. read more

While I was driving down Bloomingdale Road I noticed an adorable-looking bakery off the side of the road. I knew that I had to check this place out just from its cute exterior. The name of this bakery is Chicago Pastry in Bloomingdale, IL. This small bakery shop is only open from 8 AM to 2 PM. These types of breakfast/brunch bakery spots make it very hard to fit into my schedule because they are not open very long throughout the day. I knew that I wanted to stop in though because I wanted to try a specialty donut that they say they are very well known for called the "Dossant" This half-donut-half croissant creation is said to taste fantastic. This bakery, of course, is not the original creator of this style of donut. This donut was given birth in New York City, a few years ago, but was called a "Cronut" I made my trip to Chicago Pastry around 11 AM in the morning. The small bakery shop had a few patrons browsing some of the pastries that were on display. There were not many "Dossants" left so I was happy that I arrived when I did to buy the three different flavors they had available. The flavors consisted of Nutella, Vanilla cream, and some other lemon-flavored cream filling. I also purchased some of their Lobster Tail pastries, eclairs, cannolis, a coconut donut, and a cream-filled chocolate donut. They run specials daily for "buy one get one" deals on certain pastries. The day that I was there there was a special on cannolis, which was "buy two get one free". The only negative that I could think of regarding the bakery was they sold pretty common items, such as Liborio buns in original packaging that one could find at any grocery store for triple the price. I could not wait to try the "Dossants". Luckily, I did not live far from this location so I was able to try them in about 10 minutes at my house. My first impression of the "Dossants" was that I really liked the texture; they were firmer than an average doughnut. The filling was very tasty on all three, but my favorite was the Nutella. The coconut donuts and cream donuts were good. The eclairs and the cannolis were not bad, but not very memorable and lacked flavor. The Lobster Tail Pasteries were delicious. I would definitely say go for these donuts. The donuts also are costly; they were about four dollars and some change per doughnut. I definitely think if you're in the area go check them out. I can't wait for when the weather gets nicer to sit outside on the patio and enjoy a donut in the nice weather. I give a rating of 7 out of 10 for Chicago Pastry. Been a fan of this establishment for many years. I just dropped by to place an order for a dinner party we are hosting. I asked to place an order of an assortment of regular sized pastries. I was told that I could not place an order unless the order had more than 6 of the same pastry. They do have a sampler platter that has a variety but very small pieces. This order was being placed on a Tuesday for a Saturday pickup. Having been in retail I thought that placing an order was respectful of the business and respectful of my time. Apparently not. Just returned from this bakery. Bought a custom cake from them yesterday , served it and it had a rancid taste. Everyone at the party said the same thing. Put remaining of cake in garbage. I am so glad I checked this place out. I have officially found the best frosted sugar cookie that I've had in a while! They are expensive, but they're big.. so it's worth it! Perfectly balanced and not too sweet. They are soft and taste fresh! I also tried a cookie type bar with caramel and that was very good as well, very rich, but good! I will be back to try other items and to get more sugar cookies! Service was good, when the one girl who had been helping another customer realized that customer had a larger order, she grabbed someone to help me from the back! I saw my friend's post the other day, and I had to swing by and try out this bakery. The location was easy to find, and the employees were friendly. I ordered a ton of items since I couldn't just pick a few. Red Velvet Dossant - The pastry was a little dense, but the flavor and cream were nice and not too sweet. Cannoli Dossant - Same as the comment above. The pastry was a bit dense. French Cream Dossant - I didn't get a chance to eat this one yet. Strawberry Zeppole - The strawberry cream was full of flavor and included little bits of strawberry. The pastry was much larger than I had anticipated that I was able to split with four people. This was one of my favorites. Custard Zeppole - The custard was very creamy and not too sweet. The presentation was beautiful. Cannoli Zeppole - The cannoli cream on the inside was much thicker than I thought it would be. This flavor was probably my least favorite. Lobster Tail - This one was definitely my favorite. The crunchiness of the pastry made this awesome. I have to get at least four next time! Jalapeno and Cheese Focaccia - The bread isn't spicy or very cheesy. It tastes good, but I would prefer more flavor and more toppings. Lastly, I must try the pan pizza. The size is very big, so I definitely need to bring my husband to help me hold it in the car. Came here on a whim, I was in the neighborhood and had no idea what was around. With that said, I was pleasantly surprised! The cronuts are so good!!! Flaky and buttery like a classic croissant but fried and sugar dusted like a donut. So good! One had chocolate and the other had some kind of cream, didn't matter. Anything on those would be amazing.
