My entire professional career has been working with animals. So, when picking a dog walking service, I was very selective and had a very high set of criteria. Upon my first meeting with the owner of Chicago Pet Sitters, Dana, I was impressed not only with her knowledge of animals, but how much she went out of her way to find out exactly what I was looking for in a dog walker. She also took the time to get to know my dog. Her and her staff have been walking my great dane, Sampson, since he was a young puppy. He now weighs about 150lbs and is a handful! Even at this size, Dana handles him with such confidence that she makes it look easy! Also impressive, is that Chicago Pet Sitters, makes it a priority to know exactly how you train your dog and handle him or her in different situations. Their philosophy is positive reinforcement and consistency with how the owner treats their dog. I also must point out that Chicago Pet Sitters is not just a dog walking service to me. Dana stays in constant communication with me and is always aware of different issues I am having with Sampson. Everything from anxiety problems that he was having when I went to work to whenever he is sick. She makes it a point to help me deal with each of these issues when she comes to walk him and then will text or call me to let me know how he is doing. Chicago Pet Sitters is a top notch, professional and compassionate animal care service. All of which is essential, when you are trusting someone to come into your home and take care of your beloved pet. In addition to walks, Sampson gets playtime, treats and lots of affection from his dog walker! There is a detailed report left for me after each walk about everything that happened. Even though I only have one very large dog, I would recommend Chicago Pet Sitters to care for any animal that I owned. Like myself, I think every pet owner does not want to have worry about their pet while they are at work. We want to know that our pet is comfortable, happy and that all of his or her needs are being taken care of when we are not around to do this ourselves. Wow, did I get lucky finding Chicago Pet Sitters! When a friend who had agreed to give my puppy a midday walk for a couple days had to cancel the week prior, I was in a panic. After contacting a few other companies and finding out that it wouldn't be possible to arrange something last minute and/or establish a contract for only two days, Chicago Pet Sitters came to the rescue! Jared, a manger, responded very quickly to my email, and within a couple days Carrie, another manager, and Devon, who would be the one walking my puppy came to meet us--totally fitting my schedule. When I asked for two walks in a day (which I did not originally request), it was not at all a problem for them. Keeping me up to date with texts, pictures, and hand-written notes, I felt my puppy was very well taken care of. I was VERY pleased with how flexible and accommodating this pet service was on such short notice, even just to help me out for 2 days!!! I don't write reviews but I had to create a Yelp account JUST to say how much I LOVE Chicago Pet Sitters. I've used them a few times now and it always feels like I'm calling last minute. Never a problem. This last trip was short notice and in my panic to get out the door I failed to take care of a few things in prep for the sitter. Dana could not have been more accommodating. She and her staff always send texts, detail the visit with notes and even sent a phone pic of my fat, little duchess Tukes. We've been using Chicago Pet Sitters since 2013 for our cat and 2 anxious dogs, one who has severe separation anxiety and the other with fear aggression. Full disclosure: I'm a dog trainer and I know the owner, Dana, personally and professionally. But that's exactly why I have complete trust in her and the company! Dana and our sitter came over and listened to our concerns and made every effort to genuinely get to know our dogs. They're incredibly kind and patient, and our dogs lose their minds whenever they come over. Not only that, but they truly don't seem to mind our crazy 3-page instructions, they send photos and updates daily, and our dogs are always happy and relaxed when we get home from vacation. It's so nice to be able to relax and enjoy a getaway knowing that what's most precious to me is in very good hands. I sometimes suspect the animals are disappointed to see us come home instead of their friends at Chicago Pet Sitters. I can't recommend them enough! read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! I'm pretty much a crazy cat lady when it comes to my two kittens and have serious trust issues about people watching them. Dana and her team are AWESOME. I've used them for a couple of years and found them through my vet's website (AMC). I have no idea why I haven't posted a review yet, but I definitely felt the need to do so now. I had reservations made for my cat, Otis, over Thanksgiving and due to a family emergency I had to leave a day early and at a moment's notice. Dana and her team were so helpful and kind and willing to step in to make sure my buddy was well taken care of. When I told her my schedule was changing by the minute, she told me to just let her know and her team would be there. Otis used to be super low maintenance and just needed some company, play time, pats, food, water and a clean box. But, he now has to be on several medications twice a day and I don't worry at all about him getting those while I'm gone along with all of the love my boy needs and wants. After every visit I get a text telling me that everything is great and sometimes I get a picture to go with it. I love knowing my Otis is well taken care of and that I can depend upon Dana and her team! I couldn't recommend Chicago Pet Sitters more!!! read more

The team at Chicago Pet Sitters is the best! My dog Bella and I have been with them for about 2 years. We've had a few different walkers in that time and they have all been fantastic! Also, the managers respond very quickly to any emails or questions you may have. Bella gets a walk 3 days a week plus some one offs here and there. I also have a walker stay overnight in my home with Bella when I am out of town. They are incredibly reliable, friendly, and caring with Bella. Chicago Pet Sitters' Cydney comes to visit my cat, Yuki, whenever I'm out of town. Yuki's super affectionate and a little needy, but she's happy when I get home because she's had a great time with Cydney! I always receive an awesome text message and photos from each visit they have together. Yuki's routine is pretty simple now, but previously I had a few trips while fostering a rescue rabbit and Chicago Pet Sitters handled the added complications easily, including giving her a daily eye drop. The online portal is an easy way to schedule service and make changes, they're super responsive by email when you have questions, and the sitters are great and very communicative! read more

I had never used a pet sitter before in my life because I've only ever had cats, and, let's be honest, it's weird to think of someone coming into your home while you're gone. But when we were going away for a long honeymoon, and had a new kitten at home, I couldn't just leave out a giant bowl of food this time. So I contacted CPS, and Jared got back to me in a day or two. I filled out the paperwork PDF and emailed it back and we set up a meet and greet, during which I met Dana (the owner) and Andrew, our sitter, and showed them around the apartment. Ten minutes later I felt surprisingly comfortable with the whole situation, they were both incredibly nice and asked all the important questions about caring for our cats. While we were gone Andrew brought in our mail, lured our shy cats out for some wet food, played with them, and then emailed me with an update every day. It could not have gone any better! I have been using Chicago Pet Sitters for almost two years now and everything has been great. I have a very demanding work schedule, and the team over there has been nothing but accomodating. I would not have been able to handle having a pet without their support. It is the best feeling in the world, to leave town for weeks and know that everything is going smoothly at home. This has been the best thing for my dog as well. Kiki hates crates and being away from the house for extended period of times. Dana and her team treat Kiki as one of their own and thats already more than I could ever ask for. We have had CPS since the mid 2000's. Every walker we have had has been awesome, Dana has a great company. About a year ago we got 2 BIG rescue labs who are afraid of everything in the city. Chocolate dog didn't come out for anyone and growled at some of the walkers. All we great and patient but he runs out to see David Lind. Red dog would only walk to the corner with most people, even my husband and I, but will walk several blocks with David. David is fantastic, we appreciate him and CPS. Thank you Dana. read more

We've been using CPS for dog walking for about 6 months now and couldn't be happier! My schedule is always changing, and their online reservation system makes it super easy to adjust our schedule (even on short notice). We had been using a slightly less expensive service before this (we switched after they ended their dog walking service), but definitely feel CPS is worth the price. Our dog walker, Ash, is great--she is very reliable, learned our dog's routine right away, and even sends us pictures of her from every walk (still figuring out how she manages to get such good pictures of her each time)! We are extremely pleased with the care and attention Molly gets from her walker, Kristen. We came to Chicago Pet Sitters after our last walker only left a note notifying us that our recently spayed dog had gotten sick and wasn't acting like herself. We didn't get this notice until we got home 5 1/2 hours after it happened. Today Kristen came to walk Molly and she had gotten sick again. First off, I'm not one to usually write a review... but I believe every pet owner in Chicago should know about Chicago Pet Sitters! If it were possible, like the last reviewer, I would give them ten stars too. I researched almost every dog walker in Chicago before we got our puppy, and wow, I'm glad I did! Chicago Pet Sitter did not let me down during one of the craziest/hardest few month of my life. In preparation for our new puppy, about a month before we got him, I picked Chicago Pet Sitter and Dana (owner) and Chelse (walker) came over to our home to go over the details and to finalize the walking plan. Two days before we picked up our new pup and were about to start him on his walking schedule, my husband got laid off. With him now being home during the work week, we no longer needed a walker. Even though I didn't have an exact day to give Chicago Pet Sitters of when I would actually need to start using them, they were totally understanding of the last minute change and were at my beckon call when I had to call them last minute because of having to leave town during the week and weekends for weddings and job interviews and other things. I have now been now using them on a daily basis for the past month and a half and couldn't be happier! Dana is great to work with and my dog Charley absolutely loves Chelse! Between the adorable report cards, the prompt responses, the flexiblity, Chicago Pet Sitter has been the one of the very few, easy, pleasurable experiences I've had over the past few crazy months. We are now moving out of state, and we are so going to miss them! They are absolutely the best and hope I can find someone like them where I'm moving too... but I know... that will be merely impossible. I can't say enough good things about Chicago Pet Sitters. I worked with them for a number of years to walk my french bulldog. They were always incredibly accommodating (my schedule was different every week) and more importantly my dog loved her walkers. I personally witnessed how happy it made her to see the walkers arrive on several occasions and even had random people in the neighborhood stop me to say they had met Lola and her walkers and loved them both. She did such an amazing job at updating us with pictures/ videos of our kitten, which meant a lot to someone leaving their kitten for the first time. On the second day, Kayti noticed that Stella drank all her water and asked if she should leave an extra bowl of water out. Attention to small details was so reassuring to us. I should have written a review years ago when I first got my cat and started using this service, but better late than never! I unfortunately am moving out of their service area shortly, but I would recommend them to anyone. I got my cat as a little kitten and was initially not at all comfortable allowing someone into my home with my pet while I wasn't there, but Dana was so nice at the initial meet n'greet, and every pet sitting since then has been perfect. We visited Chicago recently and stayed in the Burnham Hotel, a pet-friendly hotel downtown. CPS sent Andrew out twice per day for two days to take our dog for a 30 minute walk. Andrew was prompt and very friendly with us and our dog. However, the weather wasn't as friendly. Our dog doesn't like getting wet and it was raining during the first walk. Andrew picked the dog up and carried him to the park and the fact that some stranger was carrying him away in a new city didn't seem to phase the dog at all. An excellent service, an excellent employee. Next time we're in Chicago, we'll certainly use CPS again. read more

This is our first week working with Chicago Pet Sitters and my husband and I couldn't be happier that we decided to have them walk our dog. The staff is very accommodating and has had wonderful communication each step of the way. Before they started coming to walk our dog, Dana and our walker, Dan, came to our home to meet us and our puppy. They answered all of our questions and made sure that we felt comfortable with the dog walking plans. This meeting made it very apparent how much they care for the animals that they work with and made me feel comfortable working with them. This is the first time that I have used a dog walking service, so I was a bit apprehensive about how everything work work prior to meeting with Dana and Dan. Meeting the two of them and watching how they interacted with our puppy put any nervousness that I had to rest. On top of this week going wonderfully...This morning we decided to adjust the time that Dan comes in the afternoon. Not only did I hear back from one of the managers within 20 minutes of sending the email, but they were able to make this change effective for today's afternoon visit. I can't give Chicago Pet Sitters enough stars - they deserve more than 5! My husband and I are so lucky to have found them - they treat our Boston Terrier, Bean, like one of their own. I often wonder if she is happier to see one of their team members over us! We've used CPS for midday visits and overnights, and have been thrilled with the level of care, professionalism, and personal attention. Each time one of the team members visits Bean, we receive an adorable hand written note letting us know what Bean did (play, walk, go "outside", eat, etc.) that day. I've been in a pinch with work meetings before, and have been able to schedule CPS for a midday visit same-day or the day before. They never make it seem like a hassle, and are always responsive with their emails and online requests for visits. We've used CPS twice for overnights - the first time it was only for one night and Anna stayed with Bean (she was so sweet!) The second time we used CPS for overnights was recently, and Scott stayed with Bean for 4 nights - he was amazing, and sent text updates the whole time to let us know that Bean was being treated like a princess. The whole team is great! I simply ADORE Chicago Pet Sitters, and would recommend their services to anyone. Way to go, CPS! read more
