There really is a reason this service doesn't have one bad review: they're simply the best. I met the (now Manager) Jared when he was walking one of his puppies two years ago. I had only moved to the city three days prior, and he was so friendly to me and my dog, Sophia. I could tell the dog he had was in good hands. I had done a search while I was still living in LA for Chicago pet care, so we'd be set up as soon as we arrived. At the time, I had gone with the biggest one in Chicago, but got Jared's name on the walk just as a standby. Best move I ever made. Within the first two weeks, I cancelled the other service and called Jared at CPS. My dog has received unparalleled care since! Jared was Soph's walker for a year and half before he got promoted, and was beyond reliable. He put in so much extra belly-rub and play time with her, just because he loved her like he would his own dogs (who incidentally are two of the coolest, most-cuddled dogs in Chi-town). He also was there in a pinch whenever I needed him, which helped me out a ton since I was at a new job in a new city. I was SO sad when he got promoted because that meant he was no longer a walker, but SO happy for everyone else who uses CPS as they'd all get to work with him in some capacity. Since Jared, Sophia has had a few walkers with CPS and they've all been great. They leave the best notes and send cute pic text updates, which are always like a little ping of happiness. Right now, Soph is with Devon and she's always just as happy to see Soph as Soph is to see her. I also receive a lot of compliments from my neighbors who meet Soph while with CPS walkers, asking me about my service, because they're always so taken with their great attitudes. Since it's how I got introduced to them too, I'm never surprised. I've used them for overnights when I travel, and Sophia is extremely well taken care of. They always follow your instructions to the letter, so your dog's routine stays in tack while you're away, and it's reassuring, unlike boarding where they're left alone a lot. They're always more than willing to stay connected and send updates. For me, that's really important. CPS isn't a company where your dog will be overlooked. Dana, the owner, is very active and hands-on. She's proud of her business and runs it accordingly. She's also extremely friendly, and I've had bad experiences with several daycares and walkers in the city, so that's refreshing. I can say that CPS handles their service the most professionally and personally in Chicago. In two years, I have had not one single issue. Sophie also endorses them, paws down. P.S. Chicago Pet Sitters is without a doubt a 5 star group of people to leave responsible for the care of your pet(s) while away for any length of time. We used their services for both weekend trips and extended travel overseas and experienced a brand of customer service that businesses of all types should model. I'm sure I'm not alone amongst pet owners when I tell you that leaving my little one is a very stressful experience, so I researched many local sitters in the area and contacted a few. The response time, enthusiasm, and attention to detail I experienced with CPS was amazing. When we did the meet and greet, I was overwhelmed with the genuine care I witnessed between the sitters and my Sadie. This was NOT a meeting to just give instructions and sign a contract; it was a true moment of heartfelt care and interest for her. Sadie's shy and scared nature around people other than us evaporated after one visit, as evidenced by the texted picture message we received of her playing and being pet. Her specialized feeding schedule was followed to the letter, and we returned home, from each trip, to find her happy and sassy as always. I guess the last endorsement I can make for Chicago Pet Sitters is this: I signed up on Yelp today for the sole purpose of writing this review. I totally agree with all the other 5-star reviewers that have already posted their satisfaction with Chicago Pet Sitters (CPS). All of those postings are very similar to my experience with Dana and her crew of extreme pet lovers. Simply, I could not possibly be more satisfied. Due to external (attending grad school) factors, I've been fortunate enough to have TWO of Dana's best looking after my little guy - Eliza and Nathalie. I am convinced that my puppy is who he is today because of their care and interactions (it can't possibly be from me). Whether it be cleaning him and/or his crate after an accident, helping me out with basic obedience commands during their visits, or their patience with us as we worked through some runny poo-related issues, they have been right there doing what it takes to ensure his health and happiness. They are professional. They keep their promises. They are proactive about communicating (very infrequent) schedule changes (which is very nice, by the way). They are reliable. They are warm and charasmatic. They are flexible to my schedule. They are angels. My one and only minor complaint: Too many belly rubs. :-) Just kidding. That's impossible. read more

I love Chicago Pet Sitters!!! My husband and I got our cat in March and when we were going to be going out of town for a week in the fall, I wasn't sure who to ask to take care of our cat. I would normally ask a friend, but a week seemed like a lot to ask... I found Chicago Pet Sitters on Yelp and gave them a call immediately. I will admit, I was a little nervous about using a pet-sitting service, because I hadn't ever done it before...but I am VERY happy that we found them! Jared was super quick to respond to my inquiry and within the week, he and Kevin (our cat's sitter) came over for a meet and greet to meet our cat and see where we keep his food, litter, treats, toys, etc. Kevin has been just awesome! He would text us pictures of our cat and would send a text each day about how he was doing. When we got home, there were daily notes going over how the visit went. More importantly, our cat didn't feel abandoned the week we were gone. He was very well taken care of and it was so nice not to have to worry about anything. I lived in Chicago for six years and managed to use 4-5 different services as I moved from neighborhood to neighborhood. Chicago Pet Sitters, by far, were the best sitters I've used. All of their sitters are extremely professional and provide the extra bits of love and care that dedicated pet owners want for their animals. Immediate contact if the walker noticed something out of place; long, detailed summaries of how the walks and feeding went; and, best of all, dogs that are delighted when the walker comes by or when we run into him (in our case, Jared -- my, and my dogs', favorite walker in Chicago) on the street. I've used them for overnight stays, emergency walks when working late, weekend walks, etc., and have always been pleased. They are easy to get in touch with, extremely considerate and understanding when extra walks are scheduled or canceled, and technology friendly (easy to contact via email, txt, etc.). It took me five years to find and start using Chicago Pet Sitters, and I apologize to my dogs all of the time that we didn't start using them sooner! read more

I have a very unique view of Chicago Pet Sitters because I've been both an employee and a customer. I worked as a dog walker in 2007 and 2008 while I was launching my photography business and I was so impressed with how Dana managed her business. As walkers and sitters, we were trusted with keys, garage codes, alarm codes and, most importantly, clients' pets. Dana doesn't just hire anyone to work for her and represent her company, she screened each of us thoroughly, contacted past employers and followed up with character references. Now that I am working full time on my own business, I have Chicago Pet Sitters come and walk my dog, Essie. It's been so nice to be on both sides of this well run, professional and responsible company and while I used to write daily notes about the dogs I walk I now rush home to read the notes about Essie and her visits. It's no surprise that Chicago Pet Sitters' clients have more doubled since my days as a walker, it's a true testament to Dana, her staff and the top notch care that they give to their furry clients. read more

I was nervous about having a pet sitter come into my home while I was out of town, but I am so grateful for Chicago Pet Sitters. I ended up needing someone to watch my cat when I went away for a holiday on short notice. While Chicago Pet Sitters were the most expensive option, they were the only company that I reached out to that worked with me to fit me into their schedules. I wasn't sure if I would stay with them after this visit due to the higher costs, but their service makes me feel so at ease while I'm away that the few extra dollars are completely worth it. I have been relying on Chicago Pet Sitters for more than 6 years and I can't say enough good things about them! Dana has been awesome since the first time I contacted her to replace my previous cat sitter at the last minute over the Christmas holidays. I have several cats who are medically challenged (diabetic, high blood pressure, knee problems, asthma, chronic kidney issues, etc.) so trusting someone else to take care of them can be stressful...but not Chicago Pet Sitters. Our current cat sitter, Jessica K., is phenomenal! She gives me great daily updates and has been able to recognize when Morgan is in pain from her knees (a difficult thing to do with cats) and give appropriate meds as needed. When I return home my cats are calm and relaxed and I don't feel guilty for having left them. read more

We have been using Chicago Pet Sitters for over a year now and cannot say enough about how much we love them. We have two pups - one of whom is super high maintenance and makes the other a bit of a challenge as well when on walks. Our walkers have been incredible and worked closely with us to ensure our special pups get their exercise while keeping anxiety low. When we have needed to change routines or trainings they have been a partner in these efforts, always up for helping in any way. We needed a sitter for our cat for 3 weeks while we were out of the country. The first place I always go to is Yelp and quickly noticed that Chicago Pet Sitters has a perfect rating. I knew that our cat Riley would be in good hands and he sure was. Every visit came with an email or text describing the visit and a picture. We definitely looked forward to those! Chicago Pet Sitters are the absolute best! Its nice to have complete trust that our dogs are taken care of each and every day. Chelse has been our walker for quite some time, and she has given so much devotion to our dogs. One of our dogs can be quite a handful, and she is able to accommodate his behavior & has worked with him to make sure that he gets a good workout each and every day.
