Came here for my nephews graduation celebration. This place is quite dirty. The table wasn't wiped clean. The plates I used alcohol wipe to wipe and it was dirty still after three wipes.... Their floor is sticky too. Nobody is here on a weekend lunch time so that says a lot. The initial impression of the overall sanitation level doesn't inspire confidence for us to order anything raw. We Went here to try all you can eat sushi.. just something different to go to vs those sushi station like place.. with the converted belt.. 3.5- Stars -Food was just ok. It was a bit intimidating since the plating was large and there are some I just want to try first.. maybe change the menu to a small serving first like 2-4 pcs..only.. There was an extra fee if you didn't finish the food.. which discouraging to try something new.. 3.9-Service was Neutral, they were attentive.. but I came in an afternoon for lunch .. there was only another family besides mine on a weekend. 2.9-Ambience - Looks like they haven't change anything. For years.. I can't understand the decor.. it looks like everything was just thrown together.. felt cluttered.. but if you don't mind the clutter then this place might be for you.. Overall it's just meh for me .. my kids did not like that they can't get smaller portions to try.. What a miss on all cylinders! Ramen was horrible as an app and I'm convinced a mouse would reject it. The all you can eat option is enticing but be prepared for bland. This place has really gone downhill. Too bad to see. The sushi rolls used to be amazing but now they're soggy messes. Their delivery food is just downright bad. Very small portions of miso soup, crab rangoons that are 90% wonton (or whatever type of wrapper) and 10% filling, no dipping sauce with the rangoons. The sushi rolls even when made fresh at the restaurant are just not any good anymore for the reason listed above. I keep trying to like this place, but just can't anymore. They do have relatively decent prices in a tough economy, but it shows in the quality of their food. Unfortunately I won't be back in person with my family anymore nor will I order delivery again. Came here on a whim after shopping at Woodfield Mall. This restaurant is definitely catered towards a western crowd. Nothing is traditionally Japanese but you get a decent amount of food for the price. I can see why people come here for ayce. I got the Chirashi, vegetable tempura, and a Sapporo draft. A pint came out to $2.50 which is such a deal. Otherwise the tempura was decent and the Chirashi was a bit weird but fine. The cuts aren't the best with a variation of sizes and not the best pieces of fish but it didn't taste spoiled or anything. Just not smooth like good quality fish. The thing that turned me off was that the rice was cold and sweet. If you can get past that this isn't Japanese sushi then it's fine. If you want a cheaper sushi-ish meal in this economy then come here. If you're looking for something more traditionally Japanese, I would go somewhere else. read more

We came in at 7:30 PM on a Sunday, and the Indian server who came to "greet" us said we can only order for the next 30 minutes, meaning 8 PM. Mind you, the restaurant closes at 9 PM. Came here for the buffet and definitely ate a lot! The buffet here is very good for the price and they emphasize not wasting any food. We ordered many different sushi's (modified them to be vegetarian), got miso soup, and got Gyozas. Everything was really good and the gyozas were my favorite. On a whim, while at work, a day that I'd forgotten my lunch, I ordered from Sakura Sushi. It's been a long time since I had anything from there, and the first time I ordered delivery. I ordered two Maki Rolls. They were delivered, as expected, with ginger and wasabi in styrofoam. They also deliver chopsticks and soy sauce along with small trays to mix the sauce and wasabi. The presentation was fine, for delivery in styrofoam. I really prefer to have sushi in the restaurant, the presentation is so much better. I will admit, the quality of the food far surpassed the presentation. To go next time, I think I'll wait until it is safer to eat in their dining room. If you are comfortable doing so during COVID, Sakura Sushi is really worth it. read more

Our first time here. Came here for lunch AYCE sushi. I was very impressed. Been to many AYCE where they load the nigiri rice. Not here. For the first time I'm glad to see just the right amount rice! The appetizers were also delicious. We really loved their gyoza. The spicy and sweet chicken was very tasty as well. Bulgogi was meh. It's $13.99 (no nigiri) for lunch and $18.99 for premium which includes nigiri. We went with premium. And overall we were pleased with the selection. Not a whole lot to choose from compared to other AYCE places but they offered the typical rolls you'd expect to order. A few special rolls were also on the menu. Felt like it was bad sign if there was nobody on a Saturday night around 7 pm. You know the food is not that great if all you can talk about is the one appetizer (crab puffs). Very soft spoken which in and of itself self is acceptable but my aunt is hard of hearing and he was annoyed when she said she couldn't hear him. You could maybe understand every 3rd word that he said, if that. My girlfriend actually had to go ask another worker there how the ordering sheet worked and what the difference between the regular price and premium price was. Warning you... just don't go! Totally not worth it! Pay the extra 5-10$ and go to another local AYCE sushi place... Let me explain. This place is completely run by untrained staff. The older cook just keeps his head down and probably hates working with the younger cooks. The two younger cooks need to keep their ear buds out of their ears and pay attention to the orders. They could also keep their hands out of their hair... Wash your hands after you touched yourself, gross! And be cautious about what you say out loud when patrons can hear you, you know some people do speak Spanish, like me. Now about the food! If you don't mind eating either completely overcooked gyoza or calamari then go for it. The sushi rolls actually weren't that bad but we only got half of what we ordered. I'm sure we ate other people's rolls because they were brought to us. We really didn't know what we ordered because it was our first time there... So we asked the server to tell us which roll was which, she couldn't, neither could the other guy. Then after we finished the first plate of rolls, we ordered a few more.... But then OUR rolls came out, lol, and we were like, we already ate a bunch of rolls (obviously someone else's food)... So there was no way we were going to finish another plate. Unfortunately, two of the rolls we ate, we didn't like... Funny thing is, of course we didn't like them, we didn't order them!!! Thankfully we weren't charged for the uneaten food. Then after everything was said and done, we showed the server the coupon that I got off their website, (that I had showed before we ordered) and was told that it's not a coupon and they'd give me a voucher for my next visit... Lol, my next visit, no thanks. I told her I wouldn't be coming back and wanted the coupon used today due to all the issues and poor service... So she took off the amount for me, although she seemed frustrated. It's an absolute steal for the price - $15.99 all you can eat sushi for lunch, I have to say that the rolls are loaded with rice (probably meant that way to fill you up quicker), so pace yourself when eating. Great sushi, quick service. The side dishes could be better however - not the best but you come here for the sushi, not the sides. I would recommend stopping in. read more

We're from out of town and decided to grab sushi before we returned home. I found this place on my Google maps, it had a good rating so we tried it out. It was cute, but our experience was very disappointing. First, I will admit, we should have read all the details on the menu however generally with great customer service, the waiters usually offer information especially if it's an AYCE with limitations. They have a full menu and only selected appetizers and rolls, and "sushi" are eligible for the all you can it. They give you a piece of paper with no explanation and you just pick what you'd like. On the paper they have a section listed for Sushi. On the menu, it's a sushi nigiri/sashimi so we assumed it was sashimi. Again, our fault for not reading the fine prints and assumed it was sashimi. When the nigiri came out we asked the waitress and she said sashimi was not a part of the AYCE and proceeded to open her hands and show case the nigiri as if it was a presentation. We didn't touch it, she could've offered to bring it back or correct our misunderstanding. Now I'm not writing this review with only negativity. We did like the appetizers. That was probably the only thing we liked, the seaweed salad was good, the miso soup and the fried calamari were great. There were some items on the menu listed for appetizers under the ACYE but was not offered on the paper they gave us. See attached picture. The sushi rolls were very bland and the fish did not seem fresh. We had the spicy salmon and spicy tuna roll. The pink Godzilla roll was the only good roll. The sushi nigiri, we only ate the raw fish on top, but the salmon and tuna were both room temperature as if it's been sitting out. The mackerel tasted like it has been expired and the Octopus tasted liked it was frozen and the sat in water to be defrosted. And the bathroom, it was disgusting. We got there right when it opened so you would think it was clean. It reeked of bleach probably cause they just mopped. The floor was still wet, there toilet paper was pretty done and there was no hand soap. They had two sink and a small bottle of hand sanitizer?!? We were so disappointed we didn't finish our food and opted just to take the "wasted food" fee instead of risking our health. The staff there does not know what customer service is at all. We weren't confrontational nor were we being rude. They didn't thank us or acknowledge us leaving at all. It was the most awkward situation ever. read more

Not only can you order the normal appetizers such as sui mai, crab rangoons, fried dumplings, seaweed salad, miso soup, house salad, they have bulgogi, kalbi, udon and fried rice as well. Never been to a sushi place that provided those so that was nice. Ordered a wide selection of rolls, nigiris and sashimi. I love it when they give us the boat with the sushi on I, just makes the sushi and sashimi more appealing and exciting. The portion of the rice to the raw fish was perfect. They do not give alot of rice and the raw fish was thick and cut nicely. Came her for AYCE lunch for $15.99. Now I see why it was priced so reasonably. The service was fair and food came out reasonably quickly, though the quality was very poor. Each person is allowed 3 rolls per order during AYCE and I'm glad I did not order more. The rolls were very large (sliced too thick IMO) and the rice had a terrible flavor. It was almost sour and sweet..not the right combo. Also we felt that each roll had way too much rice compared to the amount of filling. Overall not great and I dont plan to return. read more

Let me guide you to the experience to all you can eat sushi delux that includes soup and tempura. The sushi is made and served on hot or warmed rice. Which kills the tastes of the fish and takes the savor of the veggies. I did not understand what a reviewer had said about the rice. Which means you must eat all the rice that comes with the sushi. You will be charged extra money if you waste the rice. You will also be charged 18o/o gratuity even if you eat alone. The fish was not fresh the shrimp tempura was so tuff I was choking with it this made me not eat the rice. My table was not cleaned at all do the manager spot the rice on the pile of dishes on the table and said to me that I was wasting food I told her I was chocking and I was done with my food I had to wave actually I had to tell the ow er that I needed more water. I had never ever been served sushi on warmed rice. It was so not appetizing and non of the food had taste. The tempera was so oily I had to use the napkin to take the excess greasy on it. The shrimp tempura I added to my soup even there the shrimp was so tuff I could not chew it. Next time I have taste for sushi I will go to whole foods or Costco and buy it there. They should have signs charge extra if you do not eat the rice and 18 percent signs should hanging by the entrance . I told my server as soon as I came in that this was X my first time here and did not know how to order. You get a sheet and you are only allowed to pick few items from the menu on all you can it. Be aware that the large amount of rice that is compacted into the rolls and the sushi fills you up very fast. It is impossible to order extra so for 28 per person is not worth it. After a few less than average experiences, I have to update my review. I would consider us regulars at this restaurant over the past few months we went there at least once every few weeks. During the past few visits, the service was not consistent with a revolving door of wait staff. The last visit might be our last for a while. It was a slow night,only about 5 tables when we got there. We were sat towards the back, where gnats were flying around our table because they keep the table bus cart at the back wall. We asked to move, which they were helpful with. After our first round of all you can eat order, we placed a second round. They brought out one dish then we waited 30 minutes and never got any other dishes ordered. I finally asked about this and all the wait staff were confused. Some saying they brought it all, one saying they forgot the order. Finally I asked to see both order sheets so I could explain. They pulled both sheets out of the "completed" order bin. They don't mark off items that are served, which makes no sense. The only positive part of this experience is that the manager understood the issues and removed most of the charge from the bill and only charged us for one appetizer. Man, the plaza that this restaurant is located at is killer. How am I supposed to lose weight when there are so many options?! Sakura Sushi definitely has affordable prices for delicious food. We were a party of four and we ordered the bento boxes ($10.50 each) and then the sushi AYCE ($13.99 per person). Everything was good! The bento boxes are perfect if you want to try a little bit of everything. If you choose to do AYCE, you have sushi and the appetizers. The Godzilla was the best roll that we ate for the AYCE.
