Nope. This company was tops for price gouging at its finest. I had Lindholm Roofing out here as well as Anchor Roofing and both those bids for the very same scope of work came in about the same amount close to $12,000.00 for a flat roof repair. The owner's son from Chicago Roofing Services, Robert came out with a drone, nice person, and then a few days later I basically received a proposal of $47,000.00!! I am an architect and know construction and general cost of labor and materials. This company is criminal in thinking because I'm a woman that I wouldn't know any better. We are currently trying to sell our home. I called Chicago Roofing Services yesterday urgently needing a roof assessment so we could provide it to the buyer's to give them confidence on the current condition of the roof. I initially left Bob a voicemail when I called, and he promptly returned my call the same day. I explained to him our situation and he patiently walked me through their inspection and certification offering. He also reviewed with me one of our previous roof inspections (from another company many months prior) and helped me better understand the results. He offered to schedule our inspection for the following day, but then he realized it would be rainy for the remainder of the week which would inhibit their ability to do the inspection. Understanding the urgency of my situation (I was in active negotiations with the buyer of our home, so needed an inspection quickly). Bob had one of his sons come to our home the same day. What great customer service! Bob's son Robert and his team, promptly arrived 35 minutes later for the inspection. They inspected the roof, cleaned our gutters, took photos of the roof, power cleaned the roof, caulked and sealed all protrusions and provided the 2yr certification document within the hour! I would definitely recommend Chicago Roofing Services. Bob was responsive, highly personable, understood my needs, addressed my concerns, and provided great customer service. Stay away! Bob charged me $850 to flash a skylight that started leaking again in 5 months. I called back and asked for a free fix since I was still within a warranty period . While his crew came out right away the first time, he made me wait over 2 week to complete his warranty service. Then after they came out, he claimed the leak wasn't caused by his repair and refused to do anything. I think his guys felt bad for me and re-flashed anyway. Unfortunately, the skylight started leaking again in the same spot and another roofing company will be replacing it. Bob overcharges and acts very unprofessionally when there is no money to be made. Bob came out to the house and inspected my roof. Found multiple issue that could be causing a leak during heavy rains. He explained everything thoroughly and sent me some pictures and I ask him to commence with the work on the spot. Was really impressed with his timeliness, description of work and knowledge about my roof. It was an older tar and gravel roof and there were multiple issues. Bob and his team finished the work on a Thursday, we had heavy rains on Saturday (no leak). He even called me on Monday morning to check if there were any issues on Saturday. I really only give reviews if something is five stars or zero stars. But I have nothing to compare this experience to so I'm giving them an enthusiastic 4. The guys at Chicago Roofing Services just impressed the heck out of me. When your living room is raining, you don't have a lot of time to comparison shop. I googled chicago roofers and these guys were the first result (well played, SEO). I spoke with Bob and he was so comforting. He must have heard the panic and fear in my voice. He scheduled someone to come out first thing the next morning to evaluate the situation and provide an estimate. Miguel showed up exactly when I was told he would, got straight to work, took pictures of the hard to reach places so he could show me and explained what he found clearly so I could understand what we were up against. Bob followed up with a proposal via email, which clearly outlined what they expected to cover and a suggestion for something that was optional but recommended. (Very handy when trying to sort out budget to cover this expense!) When the leak started on the second day, it was worse than before so I needed help ASAP. Bob called two teams in to attack the problem. They arrived 40 minutes after I called and attack it they did. These guys, led by Jose and Miguel, worked like crazy. They broke up and removed enormous ice deposits, cleared and repaired the roof and entire drainage system. Shortly after they began work, the flooding stopped. They worked into the evening despite the dark and cold. I was SO impressed. read more

I don't know where to start to explain the dishonest, shoddy, criminal activity of this company. They required me to pay using a bank transfer which caused Chase bank to lock my account for trying to pay them. Second, the work I could see from the street was shoddy and that combined with the bank fiasco caused us to hire an inspector to review the work. Not only was the inspector aghast at the amount we were charged, NONE of the work that was promised was done. NONE. I requested a refund and was told that they do not offer refunds. That they would come back. Why exactly would I want a dishonest company to come back?! Learn from my mistake - DO NOT hire this company. read more

This was the first time I used Affordable Roofers and Masonry and could not have been more pleased.. They called back within two hours and were at my property in Andersonville within two days. He then spent alot of time explaining the problem's and sent me pictures so that I had a better understanding. Also he pointd out that it needed tuckpointing in several area's that I was not aware of. He provided me with a estimate in a timely fashion and was able to give me dates weather permitting. Our experience with this contractor as time passed. It was always a challenge to get a response and understand timing of when the work was going to be performed. There was a general lack of organization in the scheduling process. When I finally informed Bob I would no longer be working with him, I didn't even receive a response. Total Rip Off! They were on my roof for 30 minutes and put and put 2 patches on my flat roof. 6"x12" and a 5" round. Charged me 950.00. I dont mind paying a fair price for services rendered but he had probably 15.00 of material cost and 30 mins labor. When I told him I feel thats way to high, he told me to go "F" myself and advised the guy to rip the patches off my roof. I paid him his 950.00 and told them to get off my property. Extortion. Dec'16: First time, they went up the roof they told me no option but to clean up snow, repair and reflective coating, Guarantee for 4 years, charge $5000. Or new roof for $12000, wait till winter is over. Option #1, Done. May'17: First rain five months later. Roof leaking. Sends a guy after three no shows and after a week, claims roof is fine, 'wait for the next hard rain and we'll come and inspect'. No pictures. Jul'17: Second light rain after another two months. Roof leaking. Sends a guy immediately to inspect and claims roof is fine but it's the gutters. 'We cleaned them up in last visit for no fees, charge is $250 to inspect gutters since not roof related'. 1. No you didn't look at gutters, attached screenshot of our last conversation. 2. Please send me roof pictures for my basic due diligence of your $5000 job and then we discuss gutter inspection next. To quote Bob: 'Hire your own photographer'. 'Go F##k yourself'. They have a hard working crew and can be good for small odd jobs, but Bob's attitude is real bad. My recommendation is to 1. not call them when in emergency and they can extort money, 2. don't hire them for big projects, there is no guarantee. On my initial call, I wanted Bob's team to work on gutters if that really was the issue, but he refused to share the roof pictures and resorted to abusive language. Once my next roof/ gutter guy inspects the roof, I will move the rating to 1 if work quality was poor and Bob saw it and decided not to disclose it (I will also file an official complaint plus a civil lawsuit to claim back my $5000 + internal damages) or will move the rating to 3 if the work was fine but it was just bad attitude. read more

I have now used Chicago Roofing Services on two separate occasions. Both times my interaction with Bob, his sons, and his employees were friendly, direct and honest. Almost 2 years ago a portion of our roof on an addition the previous owners had completed started leaking. Of course it happened to be a week when there was rain, sleet, you name it, off and on... typical late fall weather in Chicago. Bob sent a couple of guys out the same day I called to look at the problem, sent pictures later that day, provided a reasonable quote, and scheduled the work to be completed (pending weather permitting) for 2 days from then. The day the work was to be done Bob called to say they would be a little later than originally expected because of a delay at another job. While I was not thrilled, I understood given that the work they do is somewhat difficult to predict. Once they completed the work and during the process they sent photos of what was completed. We have had no issues with leaking since that time. A couple weeks ago I called for a much smaller, not emergency job to fix a couple gutters on our home and garage. Bob's son Robert came out the next day to assess the job and a quote was sent later that week. Bob stayed in touch after that to let me know when they might be able to fit our smaller job in between other larger ones and more emergency type jobs. Today they came out as scheduled and completed the project. As it turned out the repair was not as involved as originally quoted and Bob sent a revised work order and invoice for a significantly lower dollar amount. I would not have known one way or the other and I appreciated his honesty in accurately reflecting the work completed. While I hope I will not have any additional roof or gutter issues in the near term, if I do I will definitely call Chicago Roofing Services again. They have gained my trust through honesty, good work and communication in my experiences with both a large emergency job and a smaller repair. read more

I had the team from Chicago Roofing Services out to do some tuck-pointing and sealing on the brick portion of my house. The first time the crew came out it was a very cold November day. The crew put some mortar/sealant down that didn't seal the way it should have, most likely due to the cold, but for the most part kept water and moisture out which is what I was mostly concerned about through the winter. Had them out to repair a leaking roof balcony and when they took up some boards they said the roof needed to be replaced, it couldn't be repaired. They showed me pictures and walked me through everything. Because of how bad the roof was they didn't want to leave it like they for long, they gave me an estimate right away and were able to come out the next day to replace the roof. How would I know someone was outside of my house when they never came to my house to ring a bell or knock on the door to tell me they were there? Will not work with them, roofers are a dime a dozen in Chicago and if they can't even show up during the sales process why would I expect any different once they are on the job. Had an estimate scheduled between 10-12 and the guy didn't show up until after 1:15.
