Robert came out to take a look at the problem and give us some recommendations. His father, Bob, quickly reached out to us with a quote of services and was able to get his team out in a timely manner. They went above and beyond on the repair and although only time will tell if it holds, we had no rain come in our unit yesterday (which is the first time in months). Like many of my neighbors,I have a flat roof on a two flat in the old Irving area. After comparing estimates, I chose Chicago roofing services. I was recommended by a friend's parents who said they used CRS, and had no issues since. I had my handyman supervise the work done. 4x the price of next bidder. Workers smoked while applying seal-coat. Cracks and potholes came back in less than 4 months, before any snow. Warranty work was never done. Price = 1 Star since they were 4x the price of the nearest competitor. The reason I had gone with Chicago Roofing Services was because they were the only company that did asphalt, concrete, and roofing. This job was originally supposed to get me through the year at which point I would have my roof done and also replace my asphalt driveway with concrete. Bob assured me that the $800 for this job could be applied as a credit for future work on the roof and driveway replacement. However, when it came time to get roofing bids, Chicago Roofing Services was the only company that DID NOT provide me with a quote. QUALITY = 1 star. The seal coat and patch work was done in Mid-July. By January, even before our first significant snowfall, the cracks and potholes were back and larger. I have been asking for the warranty work to be done since February and am still waiting one year later. I also found that a lot of asphalt had been done over my lawn. They did not edge it properly. PROFESSIONALISM = 2 stars. Bob was flexible with my schedule and did go over to my property to survey it while I was not home. That same day, he did provide a quote complete with pictures and scope of work. However, during the job, their workers were smoking and I found several cigarette butts around my property. I'm not a professional and don't know if the asphalt is flammable or not, but nevertheless smoking on the job is not acceptable in my book. read more

We needed a gutter installation and someone came out to take a look but I never received a quote. I called back 4 times and each time they said they'll get a quote over soon. The last time I called the owner mentioned he couldn't find my information and he would follow up with me later that night. Never received a follow up call or email. I tried for a month to get a quote and I wanted to keep the business in our neighborhood but finally I gave up and went with another company who was responsive and fixed my issue that week. read more

There was a leak in my 2nd floor apartment that I had been chasing for some time -I had done some tuck pointing which did solve a portion of the problem, but moisture was still getting in. I own a home in the Western Suburbs of Chicago that I rent out to tenants. I was notified of gutter and drain damages due to recent storms and contacts Chicago Roofing in order to get these issues resolved. Bob Ely and his team were able to resolve these issues with great work and solid communication, all for a very fair price. We scheduled time for Bob to look at the home and provide an estimate, which was done promptly. I received a thorough line item estimate, something other roofing companies who provided estimates did not do. The price was also much lower for the same services, which was very positive. I accepted Chicago Roofing's estimate and they were out to my home for repairs just two business days later. Since I'm not in the area to review, Bob sent over pictures of the completed work and explained the repairs that were done, going beyond what was detailed in the estimate but for the same price. I was able to make payment via credit card over the phone, which was much easier than having to mail a check or try to arrange payment with my tenants. Chicago Roofing did an excellent job start to finish in repairing the damages to my home, all the while communicating and being very easy to contact. A gentleman named Bob called my office this morning (Renaissance Roofing, Inc.) looking to purchase materials. Bob left a voicemail for my assistant who was on the road working for my company and wasn't able to return Bob's phone call. Bob again called at 1:30 this afternoon and was extremely rude to my office secretary. To quote Bob; "Go f#ck yourself"! I called Bob shortly thereafter to inform him we do not appreciate this type of behavior and that his is not the type of client we want. Of course Bob told me to go f#ck myself as well. Needless to say customer service is crucial in any industry! I highly recommend anyone reading this review to kindly consider taking your business elsewhere. Decided against hiring this company after they didn't show up for an appointment scheduled over a week in advance. At the time they were supposed to be here, Robert left a message asking I call to confirm the appointment. Called back and had to leave a message. When there was no return call, called main office and was basically told it was my fault for not confirming the appointment. Guy I spoke with could have cared less. Imagine what they'd do after you make a down payment and are waiting for work to begin. No thanks....it was the guys attitude that nixed this job. I needed a roofer with one week's notice to come to our building to inspect and repair the same day. Bob the owner takes most calls, is pleasant and honest. scheduled and appointment window of 10:00am to 12noon. Day of the appointment calls at 9:30am to say they are on their way and the crew arrived at 9:55am. They were quick, efficient, careful. Bob called with the report, sent me photos immediately and the quote and repair was completed that same day. I am switching companies to work with Chicago Roofing because they proved that my business was valuable to them, so they have now earned it. read more

Chicago Roofing Service was able to fix the hole in our chimney cover on the same day they came out to evaluate what was causing the leak in our home. They took pictures of the before and after to show us what the issue was and how it was fixed. I would have given them 5 stars, but I felt like the guy who came to oversee the evaluation (Bob's son) of our roof, although very courteous and respectful, didn't do a great job explaining or answering my questions. I had to keep prodding for answers and explanations and he kept deferring to his dad, Bob, who I spoke to over the phone. That being said, Bob is great. I wish he was the one that came to oversee the work personally. I feel like I would have had all my questions answered the first time around. The work came with a 2 year warranty. read more

I called Chicago roofing services for a free estimate on repairing shingles on my roof after having contacted two other companies to no avail. One other company rescheduled twice blaming on the weather. Once I contacted Bob he promptly had someone come and look at my roof the next day for an estimate. Jesus, his frontman, was very knowledgeable and was able to explain about some leakage problem I had last winter and guaranteed me that the issue would be resolved after fixing the sides of the house. I decided to go ahead and hire their services. They were able to fit me on their schedule on that same week and they were very professional with the way they handled everything. My roof is not flat, I had one other company tell me they had to charge me over 2k just to add some securities around the house as it was a very dangerous roof apparently. These guys were pros. They had the job done in one day and found a way to climb over my deck so they didn't have to come inside the house. I would definitely hire them again. read more

Shortly after having a dormer roof installed by a quack, some damage from a storm led me to contact Bob Ely and his team for emergency repair. They quickly came out to check out and resolve my immediate issue, but alerted me to the deficiencies in the new roof installation. Avoid this company. We had a successful roof repair by Bob and his crew and it went smooth in the past. However, I've contacted Chicago Roofing numerous times recently for a small issue and have had 2 appointments scheduled and missed. Bob apologized profusely, then didn't follow up to contact me. When I finally got ahold of him via e-mail, he made another appointment for me that he just missed. I'm done with this company and wasting my time. Bad experience. When I called they couldn't schedule me for 9 days. I agreed, and we scheduled a 2 hour window for Saturday morning, with Bob's volunteering that they would call to update me. The 2 hour window closed, with no contact. Half hour later, an email asking if they could come later. I agreed, if they could give me a definite time. He went to check with the crew and another 2 hours went by with no contact. I called and maybe they can come in half an hour. What a relief it is for me to find a reliable, quick and trustworthy company to handle our roofing needs. I originally requested a quote a couple years back, knew the roof was in bad shape. And after the quote came back, Bob took the time to work with me on a plan to fit timing and budget. Before I had contacted Bob, the owner of Chicago Roofing Services, I had called several roofing companies and Bob was the only one that went out immediately to my property to look at the roof and provide an estimate. Bob sent out his crew the day after I called him. Bob was professional, he followed through on everything we agreed on and completed the work within a few days. I had my roof replaced three years ago by another roofing company that did a poor job which created leaking issues around the chimney. The original company gave me the run around and basically never went back to fix the issue. I'm glad I found Chicago Roofing Services on Yelp! I had a great experience working with Bob Ely and his entire team! I called when I needed a roof inspection on a house I was looking to buy. I was on a time crunch and Bob was able to come out next day for an inspection. The report he provided was clear and informative. I enjoyed working with him for the inspection so much that I remember thinking "if we buy the house I hope to be able to give Chicago Roofing Services our business". When we bought the house and called right away to schedule the work he had quoted. Chicago Roofing Serves was able to come out a few days later for a full day job. I was not at home when the work was done, but I received a midday status report email with an update and pictures of the progress. It was a really nice touch! When the work was completed I received more pictures and a comprehensive invoice detailing all of the work that was done which I will save if I need a reference in the future. The company that did my tearoff roof 15 years ago is no longer in business and I needed help with a small but very important fix to my roof. Like many other companies I called, Bob explained that he had several other jobs ongoing but also understood that my issue couldn't wait for more than a few days. He gave a reasonable price and promised that in the worst case scenario, he would have someone out on a Sunday during the holiday weekend. I didnt have many choices because most companies I called were simply overwhelmed with projects and big jobs. I got an email estimate and when they finished the job, was actually charged less since it didnt require as much work as originally thought. They did everything they said they would-- Miguel took pictures of the areas I couldn't see to show me the work when they were done. He was polite, professional and cleaned up everything before he left. That was the help I really needed and couldnt do myself. They were able to squeeze my little problem into their schedule within 2 days of my first call. Bob was really great. He was very easy to get ahold of and always called/texted back whenever I had questions. His guys always showed up right on time for work. They were extremely courteous and professional. The only reason I wouldn't give the full 5 stars is there was a hiccup with the measurement of our skylight, even though I harped on the sizing issue from the get-go (we had been told by a previous contractor that our skylight opening was not standard). The first skylight they picked up was the wrong size (possible supplier/warehouse error) and then after special ordering a new one and waiting about 2 weeks, that one was slightly too large as well. However, Bob did the right thing and made the adjustments at his own cost. I get the sense he is a very honest businessman and just had some communication issues with the sourcing of the materials. I used Chicago Roofing Services for my house in Bucktown. Bob was very polite and also gave me fully detailed feedback on what work was needed on my roof. I did get 3 quotes and saw that their quote was extremely competitive and also far more detailed with regards to the scope of work they were doing, which I appreciated. We did face some inclement weather and Bob always notified us ahead of time with regards to any possible delays. Once the work was started they were extremely professional. These guys are the best. Bob, the owner, is understanding, patient and fair, a rare find. My wife found this business online and they were very responsive coming out and inspecting a home that we were looking at buying. After creating a report, they mentioned that they would apply the inspection fee towards the price of repairs as well if we used them to execute their recommendations, which I appreciated. After buying the home, and getting a tiny break in winter, Bob's guys came out and started working on my house. They did phenomenal work on my house, and went above and beyond what I expected. These guys totally wasted my time. Had three roofing projects that I wanted to hire them on and at first Bob seemed very professional but when their quote came in on the third roof, it was twice the price as other quotes I received so I asked him if he would do a price match for the third roof (as their advertising states that they will "meet or beat their competitor's quotes") and he basically laughed at me and refused. Not very professional. So, okay, I said then that I would still hire him to do the two roofs and not the third and I was all ready to proceed to the contract and start the project but then he blew me off and said "no", he didn't want to do any of them. I don't think I was rude in asking for a price match as that is what they advertise, apparently he didn't like that and was willing to give up $34k for his company to do the other two roofs. Total waste of my time but glad I found out how they operate before the project ever got signed or they got any of my money! read more

These guys are great! They saved us from others who didn't come and didn't come. Chicago Roofing came right over, offered a great deal, and squeezed us in quickly so we didn't get flooded by coming rains. They noticed additional problems that they also fixed in a flash, and since then the gangway river has dwindled to a manageable creek during even the fiercest of rains. Come to find out, this company doesn't even have a state license. Don't believe any of their NRCA stuff, by Illinois state law they must have an Illinois License number painted on any vehicle advertising roofing. Since they don't even have a license, I can't even imagine the other corners they cut. read more

I first called this company in September. I was told me they would send someone out in a week and email an estimate. When I didn't receive anything I called again. He had all my information but, apparently, did not do anything with it. I was told they would send someone out and I would receive an estimate by the next week. I did, but the estimate did not detail what the scope of the work was and then when I requested to know what it was for the money they were charging it turned out the estimate was replacing two entire gutters rather than the requested specific areas of work. I, again, clarified the work I was looking for and could they send an accurate estimate. I was told that it wouldn't be a problem but they would not be able to do the work until after Nov 1 but he would revise and resend. Nope. In one last ditch effort, I contacted them on 10/29 to request the estimate and was told they would review their notes and resend. Nope. This company has POOR follow through. They must have all the work they need. read more
