Which leads me to pain level, 1-10 with 10 being most painful unbearable...my service was a 3/4. I do have a pretty moderate/high pain tolerance but honestly I did not "oooh!!!", flinch, or scream and I'm an actual hairy leg girl. The most you'll feel is a quick sting but the wax is warm, very smooth and rips away just as smooth. My appt was at 1:15p but I was not seen until 1:35p as she was finishing up a client however, I booked this with nothing else pressing on my plate so I didn't mind the wait. Ashley means business and is focused! She will get low and eyeball your skin to make sure she's pleased with her work and that you leave with the best result. She's also so beautiful! I will be back for my regular maintenance and thank Ashley for taking care of me my 1st time there and for my 1st time getting this service.

First, the environment was not very welcoming or friendly, I felt entirely out of place. Didn't feel like I was greeted warmly, very impersonal. Jamie didn't engage in any small talk/pleasantries. The minimal conversation with me was forced. Didn't even call me by my name when she came from the back to get me when it was time for my appointment. Somewhat pretentious environment. Felt out of place and uncomfortable. As to the services, I was super proud of myself, It had been four or five months since I had last had my eyebrows done, so I had a lot to work with (or so I thought). I showed Jamie pictures from her Instagram page of how I wanted my eyebrows. She didn't really seem too enthusiastic to want to give me a nice arch and/or make my eyebrows pretty. Instead, she asked me if I ever had my eyebrows waxed. I was extremely offended by that question, I am 52 years old, of course I have had my eyebrows waxed before. In fact, not only have I had my eyebrows waxed before, I have had them tweezed, threaded, trimmed, tinted, laminated, the whole nine yards. I have used every eyebrow growth serum known to man. I felt like I was pegged as this "dowdy," "matronly" person who for my entire life either never had my eyebrows done, or if I did, that it was at Walmart for the $5.00 bargain basement eyebrow threading special. When I said I wanted my eyebrows to be nicely arched Jamie again didn't seem too enthusiastic and said that she will "clean them up" and put a little henna on them. Okay great, clean them up, fine, of course, but cleaning up and arching are too different things. Anyone can "clean up" eyebrows, I don't need to go to a salon to remove the stray hairs underneath the body of the eyebrows themselves, I can do that at home, it's the arching that is what is the important part. Also discussed lamination. I have had lamination once or twice before and I think they left it on too long because my eyebrows were brittle. Jamie has pictures of "buttery" laminated eyebrows on her Instagram page. I asked her about lamination/her thoughts if I could get the pretty laminated brows like the pics on her Instagram page and she really didn't respond or further discuss this with me. Again, I felt like I was pegged as this dowdy, matronly person who wasn't worthy of having pretty eyebrows, that anything would be good enough for me. So after twenty minutes and $60.00 later, (not to mention the $15.00 cash tip), my eyebrows Iook no different than when I walked in there, actually they look worse. The hairs underneath the body of the eyebrows were removed, and henna was thrown on there, and that was about it. No sculpting, barely any clipping, I have eyebrow hairs on top/within the body of the eyebrows that are sticking straight up they are so long, they weren't even touched, no brushing up of these eyebrows, no trimming. Likewise, there was no brushing down/trimming of the super long eyebrow hairs on the bottom eyebrow area, there are some eyebrow hairs that are almost an inch long that should have been groomed/trimmed. Also the same is true for the extreme ends/tail areas of my eyebrows. No trimming/no removal of extremely long hairs at the extreme ends/tail area. Eyebrow hairs that should have been removed weren't, eyebrow hairs that shouldn't have been removed were removed. Basically waxed off the outgrowth underneath the body of the brow, threw some henna on, and good enough. In retrospect, I should have just gone to Walmart for the $5.00 special, I would have $55.00 more in my pocket. Not a good experience at all. Even if I was asked to come back in for Jamie to spruce them up on a "gratis" basis I would decline. Very disappointed, to say the least. On a scale of one to ten, ten being excellent, the best ever, one being the worst experience, two through nine being in the middle, this experience is definitely a solid one.

Unfortunately, I have had the worst of luck until I came across Romi. Romi will be the only person touching my eyebrows from here on out. For starters, she introduced me to eyebrow tinting, which completely changed the eyebrow game for me. My eyebrow shape is spectacular a month later. I am counting down the days to my next Friday appointment with her. Aside from her eyebrow talent, Romi was very kind and sweet and I am thankful and blessed to have been introduced to her. First, my stylist (who was awesome overall) arrived almost half an hour late. I understand that her Uber broke down, but no one called to communicate this to me on the morning of the wedding, and I was FREAKING OUT and had to run around trying to track down someone from Sonia's salon, which I was finally able to do, but it was super stressful. Hair and makeup ultimately came out great, but initially when I looked at my hair in the mirror I was not at all pleased, as it looked NOTHING like the photos I had given my stylist for reference. As she had run late, I didn't say anything because there wasn't time to fix it. It's also true that I didn't do a trial, which could have helped, but for the huge amount of money I was already paying and the fact that my ceremony was a small Chicago elopement, it didn't seem worth the price ($195 PER SERVICE, so over $400 with tip). Also, throughout the time my stylist was working on me, I kept asking if we'd be done on schedule and she kept assuring that we would be, but she ended up running about half an hour over, so everything about my wedding was delayed by 30 minutes as a result, including the ceremony itself. Everything turned out well as I was pleased with the look once I put my dress on, but overall I was not happy with the way everything went down. For that high cost, I expected the highest possible customer service, which this place did not deliver.

After I sent her the pictures, the owner called me several hours later and said the pictures were "unclear" and that she's not refunding me the money and if I want to take it further I can (?). I told her that's fine, I didn't authorize to be charged without the promise of a redo and had I known I wouldn't get a refund if they couldn't fulfill their promise, I wouldn't have paid. She told me okay, to come by the salon right then so she can "run fingers through the hair" and I said sure! She hung up the phone on me. My husband called her back and nicely said the same thing: that he's sitting right next to me and it does look terrible at the top and that we can come as she recommended. To which she replied, "let me ask you, are you a color expert? no? then your opinion doesn't matter to me. Do not come here, I don't want to see you near here. If you file a dispute I'll take you to small claims court." We were shocked that it got so out of control. To further the insanity, half an hour later we get a call from our local police! The owner showed up there to have them call us to not show up! We asked the police what is going on and explained the situation - that we never threatened them nor said anything to even make it sound like we were going to be there. The police officer just said that we didn't do anything wrong and that he just had to call because they came there but there's nothing to be done. Yes, me at 9 months pregnant and my husband on our way with our toddler to visit my parents' house were going to do something to the salon? This was THE most crazy situation we've ever dealt with...

Even if I found a stylist there I liked and asked for her every time I went, they would never remember how they cut my hair from time to time. I was walking by Fusion one day and decided to give it a try. I have been going there ever since. The haircuts are very good, they remember exactly how they cut my hair from time to time, ask how I like the haircut and if there is anything they can change about it. While decidedly more expensive than the discount hair salons, the results are definitely worth the price.
