Edit to add to the owner's response: The owner is a blatant liar. Also, near blind as he doesn't seem to recognize the difference. To correct his lie, they never offered the free replacement. I initially held the remaining payment expecting them to address the issue, but they threatened me with things like filing a lien. So I paid the remainder. I even paid extra to replace the incorrectly installed drawers, which were flat drawers. The second time, they were installed incorrectly again, differently designed shakers. The result is what the photos here show. Extremely irresponsible. BTW, you are the one who did incompetent job and you want to move on without fixing it? What a joke. --- This was our 2nd time working with them. The first time, back in 2020, went very smooth, so we decided to work with them again for our new home. This time it was night and day. It couldn't have been worse. We chose shaker everywhere, but noticed the design draft showed the top drawers flat. The designer told us it was a glitch in their new software, but they went ahead and installed the flat ones anyway. I asked to have it changed and held payment until they fixed it. Instead, they blamed me for an outcome I supposedly approved, and insisted I pay extra to make them shakers. So I did. Then the final result came out like the photo. There's an obvious discrepancy in the width of the cove area (the sloped section between the outer and inner profiles). The designer couldn't even see the problem. The owner never responded at all. I even filed a complaint with the BBB, and they never addressed it. So the BBB closed the case. It's painful to see them treat me like this when I liked them so much 5 years ago. We originally had Brad come spec out options for our unconventionally shaped and sized closets in our home. He was super helpful and thorough, and the quote was very fair. We ended up not pursuing that project, but later had him quote a "kitchen library" project: basically a coffee bar, shelving unit, banquette structure that covers the full wall of our eat-in kitchen. He made countless revisions for me, collaborated and took direction easily. The 3D renders provided were really helpful in getting a sense of the space, and he was always available to come in-person if/when needed, prior to the install. My experience with CCC was terrific from start to finish. I needed only a small installation in a utility closet. Extra space resulted from switching from a side-by-side washer/dryer to a stacked laundry tower. I considered getting some Elfa wire shelves, but I was daunted by the electrical boxes and conduit and laundry hoses, etc. Once I found CCC, I reached out via the online form and Brad contacted me right away to schedule a visit. Within a week he sent a quote with extensive design illustrations and we were good to go! Brad was open to modifications, but none were needed. Christian handled the installation, which was done quickly, cleanly, and professionally. I am totally in love with the result and I am SO glad I didn't go with wire shelves. My closet looks amazing. They provided cutouts for the conduit and laundry hoses which resulted in more storage than I thought possible. And the other shelves are adjustable! Chicagoland Custom Closets (CCC) was referred to me by a different closet installer who worked on two previous closet system jobs for me in the last 14 years. This closet guy no longer works in the closet industry but recommended CCC. I figured his recommendation had to be a good one but I did get a second quote from a different closet company just to compare prices. The other closet quote was way more costly and the estimate took 2.5 hours, mainly because they had their laptop with them and mocked up the closet schematic while in my home. That was unexpected and it was a little inconvenient since I had two young kids who weren't feeling well at the time and I worked from home. Working with Brad from CCC was a great experience from the beginning of the process to the very end, post-installation. Brad's consultation of all 4 bedroom closets was quick but thorough. Brad put together a proposal and helpful diagrams of the closets within a few days. The proposal price was fair and competitive pricing. I was grateful that Brad did not nickel and dime me for every minor change. For example, the original proposal had chrome hardware handles and I preferred black handles. The change in hardware did not come with an increase in price which I thought would likely happen since black hardware is VERY popular right now. Brad was very receptive to the changes I had suggested to the proposal, like adding drawers and removing a section for long hanging clothes. He even understood my dilemma with a deep part of the closet that I literally had to climb onto a step and hoist myself into to access the space. He made an excellent suggestion of putting shelves there so that my boxes of things could stay organized. All four closets look great and I am so happy that every inch of my closet is usable space. the closets are now utilized optimally to store clothes or things. The quality of the shelving is sturdy, looks good, and feels nice to the touch. The drawers don't slam and the hardware is quality. The installation was also way quicker than I expected. The other closet company said their install would take 3 days. CCC had two closet installers come in (on time) and spent no longer than 4 hours and they were considerate about keeping tidy before/during/after installation. I highly recommend CCC and Brad's expertise! I would use them again if the need arose! It feels good to have more functional space in already awkward and small closets.
