Awful experience working with G&G and particularly the owner Ephrem. Initially everything was fine…read morebut after his team put the doors on the cabinets two of them weren't level and it looked bad. No big deal, easy 10 minute fix that Ephrem said he would take care of. I chased him down for EIGHT WEEKS to come fix it. Finally I was fed up and told Ephrem I was starting to get pissed, and he called me and BLEW UP at me. He started yelling at me and cussing me out, saying that 'he doesn't sit in front of a f**king computer all day like you do' and that 'you don't buy cabinets from f**king Home Depot, have someone install them incorrectly, then yell at Home Depot to come fix them". The burden was on him to fix, not my contractor because HIS team installed the doors, NOT my contractor. I asked him what the name of his company was and he literally said 'that's none of your business'. I was floored that I paid HIM, HIS guys made an error (a very small, easily fixable one), and HE promised to fix it, ignored my requests to come out, then I expressed my frustrations and HE yelled and cussed ME out. Shouldn't it have been the other way around? Is this how he treats all his customers? After eight weeks the door finally got fixed. I'm not suggesting anyone do or don't do business with him, but be mindful that if something needs fixing after the work is done he'll be very reluctant to help. *not sure why my profile says San Fran, I'm in Chicago.

I wish we hired their contractor since they work with these particular cabinet makers on a regular basis, since my workers made a costly mistake which was really upsetting. However, Kitchen and Bath was great with ordering new parts/ cabinets/replacements. Communication was excellent, and a few times, we did hire their contractor, who fixed problems or offered good solutions. We had an incredible experience with them, and our kitchen looks so fabulous!

This place is in a nondescript strip mall in Lincolnwood just outside Chicago, and I just happened to see it as I was driving home one day. I wanted to check out a few places so I added them to my list. Their hours are not super easy to work with, especially if you're a working individual, so you'll probably want to either make an appointment or contact them to confirm their hours for the day or week to make sure someone will be there. Marta helped me understand the cabinets that I might be able to choose from for my space, find something of a relatively inexpensive price point, and the countertop options for it as well. There were some hiccups. Communication leaves a lot to be desired. Even disregarding the Memorial Day holiday where there was no communication for about five days (I get it, people take time off plus their limited schedule), it was like pulling teeth to get information I needed--for instance, when I asked what they needed from me to get the job started, I got an email saying that they'd probably need a deposit. That was the full email--no instructions on how to provide one, when, etc. So I had to respond back to them to ask how to make a deposit to get the work done and it was several days before I got an email saying that I could bring a check (because apparently they do check only) during their very limited hours of 9:30-3. Oh, and to let them know when I was coming so that they'd actually be able to help me I guess. They intimated they take check only as payment, so I had to go during my workday to pay. I arrived 10 minutes after they opened--specifically after they told me they opened, because I asked via email for them to confirm their hours and that they'd be there since I needed to go during work--and no one was there when I arrived. So that was a bit annoying. Having said all that, I chose to work with them because they were by far the quickest option and reasonably priced. The townhome in which I live we hopefully will sell within the coming months, so I didn't want to spend a ton of money on this. Also, with my mom visiting in fewer than six weeks from the time I was looking, I needed the work to be done as immediately as possible. Kitchen & Bath Cabinets Center said they said it would be about two weeks. Given the cabinet place in my neighborhood said it would take five weeks just to get the cabinetry in--and then I'd have to find my own installers)--and not being able to really get much help from Studio41, this company was the clear choice. But if I wasn't worried about the timeframe (and planned to remain in the home longer than say a year), I may have gotten frustrated and gone elsewhere. Whilst this was all happening I was on the fence as to whether I'd recommend this contractor to someone else, and it would definitely have been with some caveats. However, now that the work is done I would recommend them as someone to check out knowing you'll need to have patience and be flexible. They did get it installed within a couple weeks, and it's absolutely beautiful work. They provided installation, which others didn't, so that was something that I didn't have to worry about finding separately (that alone may have tipped me to using them, to be honest). They also prepared the custom vent area that was necessary since there is a vent hole under where this unit was/is. They put on the cabinet pulls I'd purchased from Lowes, and would have done the plumbing but since I had a plumber coming anyway I preferred he take care of it. Now I just need to find someone to install the mirror that was once above the space and the bathroom will be all set.

I worked with Brad on a bedroom closet design, and he was professional, meticulous, and easy to reach throughout the process. On install day, Hugo and Christian were super punctual and had the whole unit snapped into my prepared space within a couple hours, ready to use, no problem! They were careful getting the pieces through my zigzag hallway and the new closet looks like it's always been part of the room. I have hired CCC twice, once to redo my primary walk-in closet and a bathroom cabinet, and again recently to install a new closet design in a newly finished basement bedroom. Brad was great, he arrived promptly after my inquiry, had some excellent ideas for what to install in an unusual-shaped space, and was efficient and responsive with his plans and revisions. My install date was set within 2 weeks. The installer Juan was awesome, he was courteous and kind and did an amazing job, the whole thing was finished within 2 hours and the space was cleaner than before he arrived. We had two closets done, the master and spare bed, and neither was very large, but Tim and his team still treated us as though we were their top priority. They were able to schedule us in right away, were very efficient, very affordable and very helpful throughout the entire process. My closets in the Master bedroom were small and difficult to fit my clothes into. Tim came in for a consultation and showed me several different plans that were within my budget or less. Tim returned a few days later, not weeks, and custom installed a fantastic new closet system that looks and functions great. I used Tim and his team from CCC a couple years ago for my closets. I liked him a lot, and really loved the work they did. We recently did some renovations in our home, and needed some specialty items built. One thing was a home office/desk space for our kids. Tim designed and installed a really cool desk with 2 work stations (picture attached). He also built a custom banquette with awesome deep drawers with extra storage for our dining room. My husband and I lived in a one bedroom loft in Roscoe Village and had one walk in closet and two hall closets between the both of us. We cannot say enough about the most wonderful work of Tim Fowler. We moved into our new Roscoe Village home in April,2009 and had Tim do all of our closets..some with shelves and rods,the master bedroom with built ins. He also built a cabinet for our stereo system. Besides installing the closets, he gave us ideas/designs for each closet making the whole process so easy! We are absolutely thrilled with the work Tim did. We brought him in to give us a quote for a master walk in closet and a wall-to-wall set of custom cabinets for our family room. Tim was courteous, responsive to our needs, and very professional. His designs had the most to offer and the overall quote was the most competitive. I am very pleased with the work done by Chicagoland Custom Closets. My salesperson, Brad, was very helpful in making sure that my designs were just as I wanted. His response time was always fast and I felt like he listened to what I wanted and implemented that into my designs. I had a total of four closets done and could not be happier! Tim made several visits to our home to measure the spaces and highlight all their offerings. We wanted a custom space for master, kids rooms, pantry and mudroom and he didn't disappoint. The lack of professionalism and inability to apologize for their shortcomings is staggering. The…read moreonly way I can rationalize their 5 star reviews, is that they must have been paid for. From start to finish, which was very short lived, they were rude, delayed, and disorganized. I tried to set up an appointment via their online booking form. It took them 2 days to get back to me. No worries, I understand, they are busy. The woman finally gets back to me at 5 :30 p.m. on the weekend of Xmas. I respond with a confirmation first thing Monday morning and she notifies me that someone else has my appointment time already. So apparently, they give out the same appointment time to many people and it's first come first serve. This is where is all goes down hill. I let her know I think this practice is unprofessional and tell her that that 9 a.m. (one of the other appt times she offered) will work. No response. Nothing, nodda, zip. Day of appointment: Door bell rings 30 min early and it's some guy (who knows what his name is because he never introduces himself). We inform him that he is early and we aren't ready yet. He tells us that our appointment is for 8:30 (nope, it's 9) and then tells us that he has other appointments and can't accommodate our time. Then, he looks through his phone for the email chain and sees that it's actually set for 9 a.m. because he backtracks and finally says that he can do 8:45 a.m. Fine, I'm not happy about all of this, but fine. Through all this he never apologizes. He rolls back up at 8:55 a.m. and when I answer the door, I explain to him that I'm confused by the mixup and let him know about the email exchange with the lady behind the email. He says, "Well, I'm here now so we can move on". Um, no, we can't. This is just getting worse and worse by the second and I tell him so. He comes in and as I'm letting him know that I'm upset by their unprofessional behavior and disorganization, he just stares at me. Doesn't say a word. At this point, I'm fed up and tell him an apology would appropriate. He then starts blaming ME for their unprofessionalism and horrible customer service saying that I took too long to get back to them in the first place. At this point, I told him to leave and escorted him out. I have no idea if this was Mike, the owner, or not, but this was one of the most appalling customer service experiences I've had in a long, long time. This was NOT 5 star service as suggested by the other reviews on here. I guess, your mileage may vary with these guys? So, I'll be using another company to make my spare bedroom into a walk-in closet. In response to Mike's rebuttal, I wish he would have apologized for any of the mix ups at any point, however, he never did. Despite his completely inaccurate account of the story, much of which I have emails to prove. If he finds it insulting to know that I found the email exchange and early arrival to be rude and unprofessional (the "insults" spoken to him), then so be it. Hopefully he will learn from his mistake and provide more professional service to his future clients. And yes, I am the one that booked the appointment, and emailed with him the entire time. My fiancé opened the door.

I had Elfa in installed in the primary closet many years before this, but for both form and function, these closets were easier to adjust and looked nicer in my opinion. The price point was also so solid, no premium pricing for a brand name. Almost 8 years later, my condo flooded and the units were damaged. Philip provided a prompt estimate to replace the damaged parts and the work was completed quickly and is like new again! I appreciate his kindness and the way he was able to offer a solution without completely charging for a full closet replacement. Truly, my only regret is not having him do the closets in my new condo, but the builder was using another company and it definitely ended up costing me more for a similar product-- with less ability to move shelves/hanging rods around after install.

I have shopped The Container Store for years and they offer multiple lines of closet and storage solutions that fit many budgets, which makes it a great value for any budget. You'll find they not only offer closets, but they have a line of garage organization systems. The quality of the garage systems is spot on. Very good quality! While visiting one of the Chicago area stores, I saw they even have wooden wine racks, work from home office spaces and many more specialized custom spaces. I love their latest lighting storage solutions as well. Very innovative! Great value and a fun place to shop. The stores staff are always friendly and welcoming. Our "designer" (Patti) was not great to work with, talked a mile a minute, repeatedly spoke over us and had no follow up skills once the contract was signed. In fact, I have never heard from her again, nor have I heard from anyone from Closet Works to date to discuss this situation despite multiple requests for someone in management to call me back. Our initial install date was on December 15th, 2021. On the install date, there were MANY issues the main ones are below, but there are several more more minor issues that need to be addressed: 1. The wall and the locations of the outlets were measured incorrectly forcing the installers to do cutouts to the boards between cabinet sections to accommodate outlets. -- This renders the outlets unusable since the drawers push against the outlets, forcing us to choose a smaller drawer box. 2. Missing parts to the overall design. 3. Incorrect holes drilled in doors for the knobs, forcing us to choose a different design with credit or reorder all 4 of the doors. 4. Other design issues or incorrect parts for the media center and closet. 5. Damage by the installers to our ceiling and floor. This is only the beginning of the lack of any actual customer service and professionalism by Closet Works, their owners or leadership. Once the installers discovered these issues, they told me to "contact our designer." Which I did, and she promptly sent me to voicemail. When she did call back, she was apparently in too much of a rush to speak to me, so asked me to send her an email with all of the issues and pictures and "she would get it taken care of." Fast forward a few weeks (4 weeks to be exact), we had not heard anything. So I followed up with an email to our designer and received an email from the designer that stated "This is all my fault. I'm going to complete the order today. I've been sick then helping others sick. I'm so very sorry. " So ok, fine - I get it things happen. Two weeks later, I have still not heard anything definitive - so I called myself... I was directed to Amanda in service, who is apparently in charge of post install issues.. She informed me that she had not been made aware of any of these issues that needed to be corrected. We are now 6 WEEKS POST INITIAL INSTALLATION at this point. Amanda asked me to send pictures, make decisions about what needed to be done, which size drawers needed to be installed, etc., etc.. A point of note nobody has come back out to the house to look and see what needed to be done so if it's wrong again, that's on Closet works. I did, and guess what - I never heard from here again or any confirmation that we were moving forward. SO...here we are NOW 3 months+ post install and no resolution. We have been unable to use our TV and media center now for 3 months. But I did receive a call this week - stating they could come back on March 23rd and install / fix the items that needed to be addressed, a date that is 4+ months post install!!!! Are you serious??? I've called several times, asked to speak to a manager and never once received a call back, apology, or confirmation that they had started to fix the issues! Also, my floor and ceiling are still damaged and there has been no comment on those issues or indication of repair. It's not worth the trouble to save a few dollars, go somewhere else and save yourself the hassle.
