Awesome selection, standard pricing. Lots of game variations! Great, friendly staff! Lots of opportunities for game play, painting classes, etc. Loads of games (huge wall to the ceiling) with board games to try before you buy.

BYOB and endless games to choose from. This place is a gem! Almost a little overwhelming with the amount of choices... we went with classic Yahtzee but you could easily spend all day in there trying new games.

Huge selection of games that one can play for free. Like most places in Chicago, it's a BYOB. I am new to boardgaming and I love this place. There's tons of new and old games, but there's no order to arranging them so they are kinda all over the place and takes a bit of time to find, but they are still good. The games shop is attached to the play area and has shiny new versions of the games.

Ask the Community - Chicagoland Games

How much does it cost to play boardgames in your store outside of boardgame night?

Jack, there is no charge to play a game as long as a table is available! We do reserve tables for our other events, some of which are paid if they have prize support such as a Magic the Gathering event. If a table is reserved, you may not play there…

Do you buy Jordan Rookie cards?

We do not deal in sports cards. The only trading cards we purchase at this time are Magic: The Gathering.

Do they sell yu gi oh cards?

Lukas, We do not sell Yu-Gi-Oh cards. The trading card games we stock are Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon, KeyForge, Digimon, Dragon Ball Super, and Final Fantasy.…

    Do they have video games?

Nope! All they have are collectible card games, board games, tabletop games and rpg's.

The owner, Eli, told me that they are handling their own food service now (apparently they used to contract with other purveyors). It is a very small menu (food being not the focus of the place) but I was delighted to see that 2 out of five of the mains were vegetarian (1 was grilled cheese, I don't remember what the other was). With my prodding (haranguing) he told me the entire history of the place (fascinating, at least to me). Ok, no more parentheses! From the outside it doesn't look like much, not the kind of cafe we would frequent. My opinion did not change upon entering, it's not your typical espresso bar. However, I was drawn in by not only the aroma but also Eli's friendly greeting. When my husband joined me inside we continued the conversation talking about all different games, Eli definitely knows his stuff and he's just a really nice guy. We didn't eat or play games. We did purchase a game to play at home. My husband had an espresso which he said was just ok. So glad that our search for an espresso brought us to Eli's place. Looking forward to going back!

We had to constantly signal someone down to ask for things because no one was checking in on us for what we needed when our food was served. For the 3 hours we were there, we were only checked in on.... twice. The food was okay. My flatbread was burnt. Not sure why they served it to us still? As for the bathrooms, they are far. You go down two flights of stairs and a hallway. The women's bathroom was warm, smelled bad and was dark with an eerie yellow light. I don't like that the bathrooms are far, yet there are no hand wipes at the table so we can play games with clean hands. I went to the bathroom four times just to wash my hands. Not sure if others are willing to do this. Not sure how clean these games are.

I wasn't sure what to pick, and while they do have staff to help with games, it wasn't very clear who to ask. Better guidance or labeling for group sizes would help. The drinks were good, but the food was just okay. We ordered mozzarella sticks, and they weren't great pretty bland. I'd recommend eating before or after. Service was friendly, and the overall vibe was fun. I think this spot is even better with a group of three or more, but it still made for a nice, spontaneous date. I'd go back. Would rate 3.5 if they had half stars
