It's the first time I booked a car service without talking to a live person, but decided to pull the trigger. They send automated texts and emails, including the name and phone of your driver. I tried calling and texting them the day before just to be sure everything was set up, but they never called or texted me back. Of course, the next morning the driver is nowhere to be found, so I call him and he says "I told Grid yesterday I couldn't pick you up". I call the service and they start scrambling to figure out what went wrong. They call me frantically with some BS story that the driver went to the wrong address. The. They said they had someone on the way (20 mins away). I told them to cancel it and I just ordered an Uber, which arrived in 10 minutes so we could make our flight on time. I'm clearly in the minority here, given their ratings, but you don't get more than 1 chance to let me down for something like this. They still have not emailed or called to acknowledge cancellation of the return pickup or to apologize for totally screwing this up. All these guys seem capable of doing is sending automated emails and texts. We're never using these guys again.

Outstanding communication and customer service ahead of time; polite and professional driver who arrives early, with a clean luxury SUV. But it's really all the 'little' extras that sets them apart. This SUV had TV screens on the headrests and a FireStick that was great for keeping our 2 toddlers entertained! There were also numerous phone charger cords available, as well as mints, gum, and bottled water. On a more recent work trip I gave the wrong airport terminal for drop-off (having assumed my international flight was leaving from the international terminal). It was the driver who helped me realize my mistake, after my luggage had already been unloaded mind you, and insisted on loading everything back up to take me to the correct terminal. Not so on the return. Our flight had a weather delay. I began communicating with the dispatch 3 hours before our originally booked pickup. I gave flight info and kept communicating via text to give our updated arrival time. I sent 12 texts in response to the dispatcher and driver. What a shock to be charged more than double the agreed upon "flat rate". Driver put off talk of payment until we had unloaded at home and were standing in my driveway. What a SHOCK! The quoted "flat rate" of $75 was now nearly $200! I politely tipped but resolved never to book in advance with American Yellow Taxi. What's the point of booking a "guaranteed flat rate" in advance if that guarantee is not honored when weather delays happen. He cited "wait time" as the reason, but I communicated the new arrival time 3 hours in advance of our originally booked pickup. Don't trust the quoted price at American Yellow Taxi. They will take you for a ride if they can get away with it.
