Located next to a branch of Powell Books, ChiCha San Chen is a great stop to get milk tea before browsing. When we visited on a Saturday afternoon, the place was buzzing, with all tables taken, a number of people waiting for drinks, but no line to order (note: this location is a larger one and it's not nearly as busy as the one I visit most often up in Bellevue). They are busy but very efficient, pumping out drinks from four different specialized teaspresso spouts. We opted to only get one drink this visit since it was getting a little too late in the day for additional caffeine. Dong Ding Oolong w/ Cream, Perfect Sugar, Less Ice w/ Boba ($7.50) - This tea has strong, deep earthy flavors from the heavily oxidized tea leaves. It otherwise has an extremely creamy mouthfeel, very pleasant to sip on slowly. Less ice actually might not be enough - the ice melts before completely cooling the drink down. It's cool enough, but not ice-cold. Perfect sweetness is around 50% sweet compared to other shops, which is good for me. It's a good soft pleasant sweetness, not harsh in any way at all. The boba is pretty consistent with other locations (some are a little firmer, some a little softer, but the spread isn't very large with the worst rating I've given a 4, best a 5, and the typical being 4.5). The pearls are large and chewy with great bounce, albeit a little too firm for my tastes. It's probably partially due to not being marinated in as strong of a sweetener as top tier boba. Still very good. Milk Tea Rating: 5/5 Boba Rating: 4.5/5 Overall this Chicha San Chen is very consistent with other locations. It's a premium priced boba shop, but I think the extra money spent is worth the quality jump. Bathrooms - They have a bathroom code displayed at the counter but I couldn't find one in store. Instead, since this is in a mall, there are larger bathrooms just a minute or two walk down the hall.

Finally got to try this boba spot! It's located in the Cedar Hills crossing shopping center. It's right near the movie theater. There are two entrances to the boba cafe. Walking in, I was taken back by the aesthetic. It had a clean, contemporary botanical vibe. The decor had circular plant engravings and a teapot array. There is a tablet to order off of and someone to take your order. There are display tvs with the menu and a booklet at the counter. I asked the employee what she recommend. She said green tea with crème. I added boba to it, coming out to $7.60. It did not take long for it to be ready. The drink came with a little string to carry. I loved my drink, it tasted so good. Best boba flavor I ever had.

Parking is plentiful and easy to find. The interior was so fragrant and nice. Ordering is done on a self serve kiosk. Dong ding oolong tea latte (5/5): so creamy. The boba was soft and chewy. The tea was so fragrant and the right sweetness. I opted for less sweet. Tap to pay is accepted. Portions are a little small but the quality is top notch. Overall, ChiCha San Chen is a top tier boba shop. Drinks are super high quality and rich.

I was surprised when I looked up "boba shops" in Portland to not only find a ChiCha, but a ChiCha without a huge crowd or line to wait in! I'm a Bay Area transplant and let me tell you....I dared not to go to the ChiCha in Cupertino because I valued my time and sanity. So ChiCha San Chen in Beaverton was my very first time there! And it definitely lives up to the hype. VERY tea forward drinks, the entire place smells deliciously fragrant with a pleasant aroma. Employees are super nice and usually offer a sample of a fruit tea or milk tea. My default is the Dong Ding Oolong Tea Latte with boba at perfect sweetness and no ice. The boba is always soft, sweet, and chewy - just perfect. I'm also a huge fan of the High Mountain Pouchong Tea with Mango on a warmer day! Why not 5 stars? I REALLYYY wish they had a loyalty program, and I wish their drinks were larger-sized. At nearly $7 a cup, I'd appreciate either of those features that some of my favorite tea shops seem to offer. I'll still happily patronize ChiCha though!

Very high-quality feel to this boba place. They spend a lot of time making each drink and making sure it's perfect. I ordered the bubble milk tea which was delicious but despite getting 100% sweetness it's not very sweet and doesn't have strong flavor, so if you're more into a mild tea flavor this is for you. I wouldn't study or do work here because it is often very busy with people walking through and a bit over-stimulating since its floor plan is one big long rectangle basically.

This is my favorite boba spot in the area. Since the loose leaf teas are freshly brewed to order with a teasspresso machine, you have a wait a few minutes longer than other places. The menu includes green and black teas with a separate taro section and customizable options. I usually order the Taro Milk Tea (5 stars) with a black tea base. It includes taro paste that captures its true flavor rather than the sweeter and more purple versions elsewhere. The texture of the taro balls remind me of mochi. I also like the Orange High Mountain Pouchong Tea (5 stars) with boba. This combination highlighted the orange flavor more than the subtle green tea flavor. The Mango Green Tea (4 stars) with boba had a nice floral flavor. My husband's go to order is the Cassia Black Tea (4 stars) with honey and boba. The staff knows their menu well and can make recommendations if you are not sure. They usually offer a featured tea to sample. They keep the space clean and consistently provided 4 star service.

I really enjoyed my visit here! The decor is very cute and the staff was patience and kind. My boba tea tasted delicious (I ordered the brown sugar tea) and I plan to try some of the other flavors next time I visit. This location is next to a Powells so it's the perfect stop before going to browse book.

This is one of my favorite boba spots! I've been to their Bellevue, WA and South Jordan, UT locations and finally made it to the Beaverton, OR one! I love how they brew their tea individually so most of the time the tea is fairly strong! I ordered a green milk tea with bubble and it was good, tea flavor could have been a tad stronger but I like my tea very strong. Their fruit tea is also super tasty as well. I'd definitely come back! The price is a tad high but for the tea quality it's worth treating yourself! The staff was friendly and the interior was super cute, you could definitely get some work done. Plenty of parking.

I'd been to Powell's books, Panera and Winco in this shopping center, but hadn't explored the interior shops at the mall yet. You can enter the mall through Powell's or the back of the stores on the Theater side. This Bubble Tea shop was recommended to me, and I'm glad I followed up. The interior is all white with some greenery and nice bright lighting. You can order at the kiosk or with a person. I went basic. Ordered a Bubble Milk Tea for $7.50. It was busy so I grabbed a table and sat watching the "Tea Fashion" machine action behind the counter. My receipt number was called when my drink was ready. It came with a cardboard carrier tied with a string to create a handle. I had customized the sweetness to low and requested no ice. It was perfect. This was a good visit!

Two stars only because the tea tastes good (when ordered less sweet). Otherwise would give zero. Been here a handful of times now and the service is awful. order numbers are not consistently called out by the staff when they're ready leading to a backlog at the pickup counter. I waited for my order number to be called, and they were well past my number. Went up to ask for confirmation if the drinks were mine and was promptly ignored. This place just isn't worth the hype or cost. I've had better quality tea in California.

Inside has bright and clean look with several tables and seating. Because it was late in the day, I tried a non-caffeine drink. The sparking grape was good and not too sweet, the grape jelly has nice texture. I will come back to try a classic boba next time.

Okay so I'm NOT crazy about Boba. In fact I really really hate it. I don't like the slimy ball lol. It's a texture thing for sure. But tea yes I do really like tea. I don't find a need to sweeten it or add milk to it. THAT said this is a fad. It's a cliche thing that shall pass. It's currently cool, but it will burn out as there not being these super expensive chains popping up everywhere. I say support the SMALL local businesses that have been doing this for years. Yes it's a beautiful place. And you are paying for it in the cost of your fancy tea. Is the tea "basket" adorbs? TRES. But again add that into the cost. Two teas for $17 um NO. That's legit insane. Even coffee chains can do a tea drink better (IMO,) for less. I say if you like Boba, go have it. Give it a whirl. It is what it advertises. It's a sweet treat. I'd much rather have a donut or a coffee but again that's my opinion take it or leave it!

There are two kiosks for easy ordering. We walked in just a couple of minutes after they opened on a Monday and were the first customers inside. House Blend Pearl Milk Tea, 10% Sweet, 30% Ice w/ Boba ($6.25) - I'll start by saying that 10% is not nearly enough for this drink, totally unlike the Lynnwood location where anything over 10% sweet is cloyingly sweet for me. I ended up asking for a small cup of syrup on the side and titrated the drink until I thought it was sweet enough. My guess is that it took until around 50% sweet. With that out of the way, the flavor is identical to what I've had before. Rich malty taste with plenty of body. It's a very solid milk tea. This hechalou only has sugar syrup soaked boba, not a choice of honey or brown sugar boba as in Lynnwood. My guess is this is one of the reasons why the sweetness level is so different. Probably honey and/or brown sugar soak adds more sweetness to the drink than whatever soak they use here. The boba is a little firmer than Lynnwood and isn't as flavorful. Still miles ahead of most boba shops in the US though. Milk Tea Rating: 4.5/5 Boba Rating: 4.5/5 Osmanthus Oolong Milk Tea, 10% Sweet, 30% Ice w/ Boba ($7.05) - Again, this one isn't sweet enough and I had to add more sugar. The drink itself is strongly flowery, again very consistent with the other location. It's a very solid drink. Milk Tea Rating: 4.5/5 This location of Hechalou still serves some top tier drinks. I'll just have to remember the next time I visited to get 50% sweet rather than 10%. Bathrooms - Single unisex room.
