Chicken, Egg & Cheese Biscuit; Hash Browns

All their food is consistently good (including the locations in Greeley, Loveland, Longmont, Cheyenne, Fort Collins, Thornton, & Colfax Avenue in Denver) For this instance, I ordered breakfast here. It was a chicken, egg, & cheese biscuit meal with a side of hash browns and coffee. It was quite delightful. I went back for lunch today, where I ordered chicken nuggets and macaroni & cheese. That was also good. This place also had decent service and a nice dining room.

Service sucks! I placed an order on the app at 10:25 for a breakfast item and a lunch item. On the app, it told me they would start preparing the order before I arrived. When I got there the lady told me they didn't start preparing the order until I arrived. I was 3 minutes late and didn't get my order because the apps wrong and they don't follow what it says. The app literally says you'll start the order before I get there, why say that and not do it. My order was also cancelled before anyone tried to communicate with me or inform me of the policy.

The…read moreonly things I can really enjoy at a Jamaican restaurant are rice and peas, mac and cheese, and plantain. As I went into the restaurant, I was greeted with a smile. The person who took my order, who was a woman, was very nice at first. Then I started asking questions about the Rasta Pasta to see if they could take out any meat if there was any. Come to find out they have shrimp in their Rasta Pasta. She checked with the kitchen to see if they can remove the shrimp, and they said yes. I asked another question: can I know how much food comes with the Rasta Pasta? She said it's a big amount. I was wondering if I can get a small amount. When I asked that, she seemed so annoyed to go back to the kitchen to ask them if I can get a smaller amount of Rasta pasta. This is when she started to become a little bit rude. When she came back from the kitchen, she told me, "Yes, they can make a smaller portion of Rasta Pasta." But then, this being my first time at this restaurant, I thought maybe I could eat a little bit and then save the rest for later or tomorrow. I then changed my mind from a smaller portion to a bigger portion. I understand when you're dealing with an indecisive person at the moment, it can get a little annoying, but when you work at a restaurant, whether you're the owner or not, that is so rude. She then said this to me, "That's a lot of food for one person." Without her even knowing if I have siblings or not, or if I am sharing this with someone, she just assumed that it's all for me just because of how I looked (I had planned to eat a little then save it for the next couple of days). I do look a bit overweight, but for her to point that out, that's so rude. I almost cried in my car when I walked back to it after leaving the restaurant. I'm currently on a weight loss journey, but for her to say that and not even know me almost broke me. The atmosphere was okay at first, but obviously that went downhill as I was leaving the restaurant. The only good thing that I actually enjoyed that I got from there was the coconut cake and the mac and cheese...

The stream of customers remained steady during my visit so it was pretty obvious there are more folks who feel the same. Ordering is simple where diners step up to a kiosk and place their order (dine in or to go) and watch the screen by the pick up window for when orders are ready. I went with the Nashville Hot and added an extra of Mike's Hot Honey. What a wonderful splurge that was! The chicken is tasty and the side coleslaw was good (not overly wet). Birdcall offers tea (highly recommend the mango), sodas and beer, and margaritas. The dining area is pretty spacious and was well maintained during my visit. The dining patio faces Hampden so it may get a little noisy from the traffic. The restaurant and its facilities are accessible friendly too.

Honestly, I don't understand the hype around this place. I've given this place a solid try by…read moreeating here twice. The first time I went and dined in with my boyfriend. He did actually like his sandwich. I can't remember the name, but it was the one with the pimento cheese. I got the Korean sandwich, and my sandwich was so soggy with sauce that the bun was falling apart and the breading on the chicken was not one bit crispy, but instead had a mushy texture and kept falling completely off the cutlet. The flavor of the sauce was just too salty with a little bit of sweet, but no real flavor profile other than that. When I get a fried chicken sandwich I want it to have some crunch. That's half the fun of eating fried chicken, in my opinion. The tots were ok, but nothing to write home about. I got one of the dirty sodas, which sounded good in theory, but I really didn't like it and ended up just throwing it away. My boyfriend got the house made strawberry lemonade and said it just tasted too tart. Upon trying it, I agreed. I'm the type of person who almost always gets lemonade if they make it in house, but did not have a high opinion of this one. He didn't end up finishing his drink either. Today we ordered take out from Birdcall for our whole family. My boyfriend was there to pick it up when it came out, and we live only 5 minutes up the street. This time was the same- my breading just keeps falling off the chicken, even though this time I got no sauce on my sandwich. That's super disappointing and makes it harder to eat. My son doesn't like the chicken tenders either and says they taste bad. I tried a piece, and I don't think it tastes bad, but it is definitely bland. All of the chicken seems a bit overcooked judging by the dark color of the breading that has gone a bit past the golden brown you expect with good fried chicken as well as the slightly rubbery texture of the chicken. My boyfriend ordered separately but picked up both our orders. He got home and said his Starry has no flavoring whatsoever. I tried my son's lemonade and it again is just kind of sour in flavor, with not enough sugar added. I thought maybe the first time we ate their they maybe just had their ratios off in that batch of lemonade, but I specifically didn't order it with my meal this time because of the experience last time. I guess my instincts were correct because this time it still wasn't good. Overall I just always end up wondering why I spent the money to eat at this place when the food and drinks are so lackluster. I'd sooner eat at Raising Cane's where the chicken is super crispy, tasty, and the breading stays intact, and they have delicious lemonade that they make in house. I will say that the atmosphere in the restaurant is nice enough and the bathrooms were clean. It was over air conditioned, but that tends to be the case whenever you eat at a restaurant in the summer. Either way, I still don't get the hype around this place, re: the reviews I read. If I were you, I'd skip this place.

Now I want to make this location my go-to. Its location is convenient. On north end of the charming South Pearl Street, it's an easy access from I-25. Everything is so walkable from there to other shops on the same street or even on the other side of the highway. After entering the restaurant, I noticed that there is/was a large menu on the the left wall right at the entrance so I took the time to peruse before I turned my attention to the ordering counter. And there, a young lady with a very warm smile was already standing there staring at me with a pleasant "Hi". What an attentive service that was! I am pretty familiar with their menu although I did ask her some questions to which she replied with the needed information. One of the questions I had was about one of the sauces (that they offer complimentarily for chicken meat) and it's called piri piri. As far as I can remember, she said it's tomato based with a little spiciness (it might contain some red peppers as well.) Chimichurri was simply too ordinary as that is what I always get so I decided to go out of my way to do something not so ordinary; I got to be a little adventurous. What I ended up getting me was 1/2 of dark chicken, a side of smashed cucumber slices (salad) and a side of mac and cheese. Once my food was packed and ready, a different worker (male) handed me my food. He was also very polite and cordial. I always appreciate their top-notch customer service. I was on my way to work my side hustle downtown so this meal was what I needed to consume before that job assignment. Once I got to my car, I opened my bag and immediately started my early dinner. The dark chicken meat was perfected moist. The red sauce I got gave it a nice kick to the whole enjoyment of the main. The smashed cucumber is light and refreshing with some tanginess to it. The mac and cheese (I believe) is a vegan dish (am I right) but whatever they use to make the typical mac and cheese taste is/was still there with no sacrifice. And get this, nothing (absolutely NOTHING) was oversalted. Lately, I have been encountering more and more restaurant where they season their dishes with too much salt which truly upset me. Chook's conscientious way to cooking all the dishes is what I can appreciate the most. And the quality of ingredients they use are almost guaranteed. This place is simply not for chicken or sub or salad lovers. If you want to spend a casual after 5pm time, they do serve quality beers, wines and cocktails on top of soft drinks. As much as I appreciate this restaurant, I am not sure if it is talked about amongst my foodie friends. My sincere hope is that they utilize your business as often as I do. You deserve so much appreciation and accolades from them.

I pulled up to the drive-thru speaker at 1:40 AM and sat there waiting. After about a minute, I started saying, "Excuse me?" a few times. Absolute silence. So I drove around. There was a car at the first window literally waving someone down. Looked like they needed ketchup or sauces because apparently that's the only way to get an employee's attention after 1:40 AM. When they left, I pulled up around 1:43-1:44 AM and had to wave someone down myself. The employee finally opened the window, and I immediately noticed she wasn't even wearing a headset. So the drive-thru wasn't being ignored by accident--they just weren't taking orders anymore. She asked, "Do you need something?" I said, "Yeah, I'd like to order." Her response: "We're closing down." Me: "Don't y'all close at 2?" Her: "Yeah." Me: "It's 1:43... not 2." Her: "I know." So I asked, "If it's not 2 AM yet, shouldn't you still be operating?" Her response? "Uhhh..." That pretty much told me everything I needed to know. I just said, "Don't worry about it." She asked if I was sure. At that point, why would I still want food from a place that was actively trying not to serve customers? Wait here's the best part...
