First time, I was starving and grabbed a two-piece meal with shrimp while I was paying for my gas. I was skeptical since it's inside a gas station. That first meal was absolutely fire. The chicken was crispy, well seasoned, and not greasy. And the shrimp? Breaded and seasoned perfectly. Hit the spot completely. So I went back for a second visit just to see if it was a one-hit wonder and nope, it wasn't. I got the exact same meal and grabbed some other stuff to share, and I'm so glad I did. Not everyone can fry chicken. It needs to be well seasoned and fried to perfection and able to stand all on its own, no help from sauce. Bob's Hienies definitely passes the test and is worth a stop. Bonus: if you spend over $30, you get a free car wash worth $20, so that made my trip even better. But that's just my palate, don't take my word for it. Try it out and let me know what you think.

I ordered a 10 piece chicken chunk combo, which was supposed to be $9.75 according to the menu board. It rang up $10.10. OK not a big deal. The chicken was extremely dry and had literally no seasoning or flavor. It was not made fresh at all and needed sauce to even fix the dryness. The wedges were huge and decent. The Dr Pepper was flat. I don't think I would return.

Rude and unappreciative of your business is how I feel about the Mokena location. The people that…read morework inside rarely bother to greet us when we go in to pick up an order. Very rare for them to say thank you. Perhaps their English skills are lacking. Twice recently when I've gone there in the evening, the doors are locked at 830 to 845 PM. That happened again this week. The sign on the door says the lobby is open until 9. So I have to go back to my car and now go thru the drive thru to get my online order. I said something to the guy at the window: "Why are your doors locked?" Response: "We lock them at nine." I told him it's 845 PM. He looks at the clock and says "We were very busier earlier today, so we locked the doors early." He turned away, closed the window. Didn't bother to say thank you. Does that even make any sense? Can these people not handle working a little harder? Unbelievable reason for locking up early. I'm done with their rudeness. I won't be back. A few weeks ago I was there on the weekend and some people were washing the windows inside and out. I could tell they weren't related to the staff that works inside, because the exterior window washer thanked me for coming on my way out! I had hopes the restaurant was sold to this guy and the rest of his crew. No such luck. The same unappreciative and unfriendly people continue to own it. Very unfortunate to see a Popeyes run this way in Mokena.

I forgot scan my rewards qr code because I was just going to enter it manually. When I looked my receipt to enter my receipt code in the app, I couldn't find it. Low and behold I discovered that the guy who took my order Miguel scanned his code and collected my points. Seems he's been doing this alot as he has amassed over 30,000 points. I tried every way I could to get my points, Popeyes Regenional Manager said nothing he could do, customer service said they couldn't do anything, the restaurant Manager couldn't do anything. So Miguel gets away scott free!! Remember to scan your rewards code when going to Popeyes Mokena otherwise Miguel will for you!!

I ended up discovering I had a plain slim with cheese with maybe 4 slices of ham in the giant. Then the second sandwich was TURKEY - which neither of my kids will eat. Unfortunately we did not have time to go back so I wasted money for a giant that no one could eat (I am celiac). The turkey sandwich also had barely any meat in it. The guy behind the counter stared at me as if I was rude to come in a few minutes after opening while his coworker took over the phone orders. There were no customers in the store. Just me. I went this morning to New Lenox - same sandwiches, online ordered, and for exactly what I wanted with sandwiches properly and fully made. Zero issues. I've had several issues with incorrect orders at the Frankfort location - not to mention the slowest service almost every time. I'm two minutes from Frankfort and ten from new Lenox. I'll drive the extra 8 minutes for reliability and service.

TLDR; No vibe at all. Weak car turnout. Mediocre food. Don't waste your time…read more I feel like I need to write this to speak to the car guys and gals who have fond memories of the original Duke's. This is going to be long and you're going to be disappointed. I'm sorry. The History. I went to the original Duke's Drive-in with my dad for the first time when I was 6 almost 50 years ago. It was magical. The yellow lights, the sign, the soft serve ice cream, the oldies playing on the diner speakers, the full lot of hot rods and American muscle--moments etched into my brain for my whole life. I have some great memories from those cruise nights. I was sad when the drive-in closed and sold the lot, but with the retirement community across the street, it was always destined to end. Fast forward to the new location, some 20 or 25 miles south of Bridgeview. They have been here for a few years now, and I figured I had given it plenty of time to hit their stride. No longer close to where I live, it took a lot of time and effort to get there for the regular Saturday cruise night. We missed the entrance to the location twice because we couldn't see the diner behind the gas station and car wash, and the one way lanes offered nowhere to park for non car show participants. Once we finally found parking at the tire dealer next door, the fun started. The plan: food first, then walk the cars. We entered the gas station back door and found a single diner counter inside the station, between the pop coolers and the Icee machines (that were out of order). We ordered our food and waited. The floor was sticky like fly paper. The pop machine spit out flat, warm pop as if it had been unplugged for the last week. The faint smell of bathroom cleaning chemicals and fry grease were wafting in the air. Yum. We headed outside in order to not eat inside of a gas station, and found the only open picnic table 15 feet from a giant propane tank and ice bag chest. Wow. Looking around, there were not as many cars there as we expected--I figured we might be there a little early for the rush of muscle cars. The Food. EVERYTHING was beyond salty. I'm writing this a day later and my lips still burn. Holy crap, take it easy on the sodium. That's not flavor, that hiding a lack of taste. The beef was dry, cold and besides the salt, had no flavor. Even "baptized," the $10 beef was nowhere near the "Best Beef" (according to WGN). Standard fare at Portillo's is light years a better beef. Warm pop and cold beefs. Excellent. To be fair, my wife did enjoy her chili cheese dog (also super salty) and my daughter liked her Chicago dog (though, we did have to make 3 emergency bathroom stops on the ride home, so do the maths). The Cars. I explained already my memories from Bridgeview. I also mentioned that I thought it was a light turnout for a beautiful Saturday night at 6pm. Turns out, once we sat down to eat, almost half of the cars in the lot decided to leave. I don't know where they were going, but the exodus of Challengers, Camaros and Mustangs was telling and hugely disappointing. I think I overheard someone say something about Rt66 drag strip in Joliet, but the empty parking spots they left behind was a bummer. Before we were finished with dinner, most of the cars I wanted to take a closer look at had left for who-knows-what reason. The Conclusion. I honestly went into our "new" Duke's experience with low expectations and a sense of humor about the "new" south side gas station locale. I wasn't disappointed--my low expectations were met, and the whole event made me laugh. The vibe of the old drive-in was epic, and absolutely has not been re-created in Mokena. The food at the old drive-in was great diner food with awesome beef, burgers and dogs, and buckets of almost perfect French fries. The cars at the old drive-in were overwhelming and intoxicating to a youth in the 80s. The old drive-in was the only thing on my mind the second school let out on Friday afternoon. The new Duke's is an inherited name and logo, and nothing else. It lacks character, charisma and any vibe of an old school cruise night drive-in. The food was mostly edible, and that's a low bar for a diner. The sticky floors and propane tank don't add to the mystique, they make you a punch-line. You can't recreate an icon if you are just looking to slide by using someone else's brand.

It has been a bit now since I visited and sadly was disappointed in my experience. I called ahead to order so pick up would be easier. The staff member was having a difficult time understanding me but we got my order in and everything seemed clear! The woman at the register helped a couple of others before calling me up so I could pay for our order. There was no confirmation of items just my name. When our food was ready, they were missing the small french fry. She immediately got defensive saying she didn't charge me for it and I could pay still. Another staff from the back came out and also chimed in. I was happy to pay for the fry but everything is made to order so we had to wait a bit. The food here is very good. The wings weren't as crispy as normal but that could have been from the wait. Overall, there could be some service improvements made and better communication among staff.

This means multi items and that means, 1/4 pound a half a pound, what type of meats or cheeses and every single time this guy gets my order wrong. He insists I give him the entire order right there! There's items missing. The amount is wrong, and even the type of item, meaning if I asked for sliced baked ham I would get the other type of ham that I didn't want . This didn't happen just once this happens every time I get stuck with him! To see he is incompetent is being kind! So very frustrating! People want to show off their so-called memory skills and all they're doing is screwing up your order. They are not exact. they're not even close! I've had so many mistakes and it's frustrating. This guy has no business saying to any customer when they ask for a half a pound of whatever to insist you give him your entire order! It's fine if you have one or two items total at the deli. But types of meats, types of cheeses, and the amount you want of each at one time. Is offputting and he has no right to do that to any customer and yes, he gets it wrong every time. Ambrosino's needs to let this guy know to he is too take a person's order one item at a time or even two at a time and that's it. He needs to stop being pushy and allow customers to give their deli orders one or two at a time as they wish to do it. He doesn't have any respect for the customers and Ambrosinos's needs to stop this guy. Never again!
