I've been going to this location since they opened, and tonight was the final straw. We were out this evening and decided to grab take-out. We checked Google and the Pop's website and saw they were open until 9. Great! I don't want to be the jerk who walks in minutes before close, but it's 8:00 and we're 10 minutes away. My husband walked up to the doors, which are locked. An employee inside does the "slice the neck" motion to indicate they're done. The entire location is still staffed, just sitting around hanging out. I get closing a few minutes early, but it's 45-50 minutes until close. I get that things happen and you might be forced to close early, but put up a sign, come explain it, just be a decent person. Don't make a rude gesture at me like I'm an asshole for trying to support a small business during the hours that your business is open! With as many beef places as are in the area, there is just no point in dining in a restaurant where they are unwelcoming and rude to their customers. read more

Nice knowing you! This location is an embarrassment to the original location in Palos. I have only dined here in the last year when I was in a jam. My frequency has declined considerably. This past Thursday I called at 5:30pm to ask if they had chicken noodle soup and what was their largest quantity. Yes, it was in stock and 32 ounces When I arrived at the restaurant five minutes later, I requested a 32oz chicken noodle. The gentleman at the counter, who has worked here for years, informed me they only had enough for a cup. However, he offered to sell me 32 ounces of COLD chicken noodle. Really, COLD soup! Who in their right mind thinks this is a plausible solution. There are a couple of solutions for this problem. 1) Be ready for your dinner clients. Have product ready to sell. Keep a bag of soup in the steam table. If you don't need it it can go back in the refrigerator that evening For God's sake, it was 5:35pm. 2) don't you have a microwave? I ended up at Joey's in Mokena, my first time. Great service, options and quality. My new place despite it being slightly farther to drive to. read more

Before they expanded to many locations they had excellent beef and very good other food items. That's no longer the case. Just purchased a beef, fry, gyro sandwich and mozzarella sticks at the Mokena location. This was a take out order, I live five minutes from the restaurant. The beef sandwich was cold and tasteless, the fries were small broken pieces over cooked on the verge of burnt, the gyro sandwich was small and meat dried out. The meat had been cut previously and warmed on the grill to the point of being dried out. The mozzarella sticks were the only item without issues. All of this for $24.95. The only thing they still have that is consistent is unfriendly rude teenage help. Won't be going back! read more

There's no reason people should be giving Pops on route 30 low reviews. Great food, large servings, nice service, clean restaurant, and quick to get orders out. I have came here for over 5 years and it is as consistent as any other restaurant you've been to. Prices are warranted given the quality and size of serving. This is my absolute FAVE place for hot dogs -- and chili cheese dogs in particular! (Try the CHILI--you will not be disappointed, my friend!) A regular customer not returning ever again... My family & I have been regular customers at this location, & after picking up my order to bring it home to eat with my family, I found a problem with the order. I had a large order, but the breaded steak sandwich sandwich was dipped (soaked) which should have been done to the Italian beef sandwich. It was disgusting. The real kicker is that when I called, the guy that took my order on 8/5/21 answered the phone & after putting me on hold to talk with his kitchen staff, came back on & said that was impossible. Several things that I noticed right off the bat were that the music in the restaurant was very loud, and that a majority of people in the restaurant were waiting for their food for take-out. We were there for dinner time, and it was just my group, and one other group. We got the double cheeseburger with fries- lots of fries! (See picture) The burger was very average. Filling food, at a fair price. The fries were comparable to McDonalds. We will be going back to try the other sandwiches! It makes me sad to have to write this review. I've been going to Pop's for 20 years. Originally, the one on 103rd and Kedzie. When we moved out to NL, we were happy there was one close by. We've also had catering from there. The food was never as good as the original, but still good. I've never had too much of an issue there. A couple times our order was screwed up, and since it's not 2 minutes from us it is a hassle and not worth it to drive back and fix it. I've never felt the need to call and complain until yesterday. I called ahead for my order so it would be ready since I had my kids with me and I know they would be hungry. They asked when I would be there, I said 10 minutes, and I was told my order would be ready for me (a beef sandwich with hot peppers, a double cheeseburger and a choc. shake). I arrived about 13 minutes later, and the food was not ready, which was annoying in itself. Then I asked for an additional cup for my chocolate shake -- so my kids could share it. I was given a styrafoam cup. I asked if I could have a regular cup with a lid and was told "I have to charge you for that." A CUP?? Upon arriving home, my husband opened his double cheeseburger to see the most poorly assembled cheeseburger. The buns were going in two different directions, the burger was hanging off. There was cheese all over the wrapper and the buns were wet. My beef sandwich had no peppers. I called and spoke to Patty. I told her what happened. She said well you can drive over here with the sandwich and I can replace it or give you your money back. I explained I was 15 minutes away, my kids are hungry and I don't have the time or gas to drive there. She said well people call us all the time so I have to see the sandwich to make sure something is actually wrong. She also said "Well the peppers are free, so..." I DON'T CARE THAT THE PEPPERS ARE FREE. I WANTED THEM ON MY SANDWICH. I told her that was ridiculous to treat customers this way, and that they have lost us as a customer. If you want fast food and you don't want to deal with Portillos madness then choose Pops. I have gone to this location several times and have never seen it dirty. Not sure what other reviewers are referring to. I have never waited more than 5 minutes for food. I would recommend the grilled chicken pita with grilled onions and easy Mayo. They also have full salads and side salads available. I think most people don't know that. Of course they have the old standby burgers and hot dogs. Fries are huge so think about getting a small or share. Give them a shot when you don't feel like cooking. read more

I've been going to Pop's since I was a kid, first in Palos Heights and now the one in Mokena. It's fast food but a big step above a McDonald's or a Burger King. Pop's has great, freshly made burgers and dogs as well as their signature beef. They've recently added broasted chicken which is fantastic. Comes with potato wedges, rolls and slaw. Since KFC and Browns all use MSG in their chicken I avoid it like the plague, Pop's chicken is better anyway. Always juicy and not greasy! My wife is a big fan of their carvery sandwiches as well. Overall you can't go wrong at Pop's. The quality is great and the prices seem to be a bit less than anyone else in the area making it a hard combination to pass up when you want a beef sandwich, burger or dog. read more

I have never felt so compelled to write a review. I have tried nearly everything on Pops menu (at 3 different locations), and find that I am almost always dissapointed. The meat is flavorless and dry (beef, sausage, and chicken) The cream of chicken soup is basically clumps of cornstarch with a can of VegAll. The meat/bread ratio is unacceptable. I have no idea how this resturaunt continues to stay in business. I keep giving it another chance, and always regret my decision. The only thing I like on the menu is the cheese fries. read more

Pops you never disappoint me. I had the beef with hot peppers. WHAT THE, it was great. The sandwich weighed a ton of no shortage of beef or peppers. The peppers were some of the freshest I ever had. Everything about it is good and tasty. For fast food they hit the mark. They also cater, and from the amount of people picking up orders and the sweet aromas I was ready to follow them home. For the price the food is decent. The service is where they miss completely. The teenagers working there couldn't be less engaged in their job. Standing and talking while a line emerges is the norm. Asking for items they forgot, seems to be a major inconvenience for them with huffing and puffing as though you are dealing with a two year old.
