From the street it has a really cool look and the inside leans into an industrial style with a great aesthetic. It's a comfortable space with a nice vibe. We ordered a couple of cocktails: a lemon drop and a Manhattan. Strategically we decided to split a Detroit-style pizza called the Iron Pig. Good call because one square was the perfect amount for dinner. And now we have a few meals to heat up for the next few days. The drinks were excellent and the pizza was outstanding. Great flavor. Our server Ally was welcoming and friendly and top notch on service. It is the middle of winter so we weren't considering outside dining, but they have a great outdoor space near the street. Every ingredient is perfectly seasoned and added delicately, not just items slapped on a roll. The Detroit pizza is what initially drew me in. While they have some options with more toppings, I'd say go for some of the more simple Detroit pies to really allow the famous crust to really shine through. We ordered the Polpette as an appetizer; it's a 'tradition' of mine. If meatballs are on the menu, I will always order them. These lamb, veal and beef meatballs were very good, and the marinara sauce they came in was excellent! The sauce is actually a 'roasted pomodoro' gravy - which is an 'intensified' version of a classic Italian sauce. It's made by roasting the tomatoes at a very high heat and almost caramelizing them. A little feta was added to the sauce, which really highlighted those meatballs!! We split the order - as 5 meatballs is quite a large appetizer! We decided to share two entrees - the Beef Short Ribs and the Lobster Ravioli. I always ask if the short ribs are lean - our server responded they were very lean...and they were. Soft, tender and very flavorful large chunks of beef, with a deliciously rich gravy with mushrooms on a bed a creamy garlic mashed potatoes! It was a superb dish! The website said the Short Ribs were the restaurant's most popular meal. Next, the Lobster Ravioli. The dish was a very 'delicate' one, with a very subtle brandy cream sauce. It had chopped jumbo shrimp and peeled cherry tomatoes with the raviolis. While the sauce tasted fine, it needed 'something' - we added pepper which helped. The raviolis were good - we couldn't taste lobster in the cheese of the raviolis - we assumed it was there. The chopped shrimps though provided a nice additional seafood flavor. I like my raviolis tender - the kind that almost melt in your mouth. The pasta here was firmer - a little more 'al dente', but it was fine. We ended our meal with the Chocolate Mousse. Served in a martini glass, the mousse had a velvety texture with a deep dark chocolate flavor. It was very rich yet light and fluffy; a good choice for dessert!
