Welp, reading reviews from a year ago and up nothings changed. Waited 25 minutes in drive thru line and it never moved, never saw a form of life moving inside, and drive thru speaker has been broke forever. They don't even turn the lights on outside. Why stay in business with 1 employee whom obviously hates his job and does not give two f's? Your business is just wasting space! BTW I left after 25 minutes. This was the only time I've had BAD chicken express, the chicken turned out OK but the gravy was watered down to such an extent it simply ran off the chicken, the rolls tasted rotten somehow and the jalapeño poppers weren't cooked all the way through. There was no one here and for good reason. It was a mother and daughter working alone, they weren't very hospitable and played Spanish music loudly from their phones the entire time. Ordered a 7 piece tender dinner, waited in line 28 minutes. Pulled away and got on 175 just to find only 4 tenders in the box and 15 pieces of fried okra. Turned around and went back all the doors locked and Snoop Dawg tall skinny guy was only guy working. The line had 8 cars waiting I wanted to tell them prepare for half hour wait at least. Close the place the down your business is a joke a total POS.Your giving Chicken Express a bad name. And your stealing from people. One of the few places in town that serves fried okra and it's often adequate. It's sometimes a tad undercooked for my tastes, though. We come through the drive thru primarily for buckets of tea. Their giant cups that they call 'buckets' dwarf the Route 44 cups at Sonic - and are so big, there isn't a conversion van in Texas that has a cup holder big enough to accommodate one! Fortunately, the cups have built-in handles. They take credit cards, but you have to sign the receipt - which is a bit of a pain through the drive-thru. Once every 3 years or so I crave chicken livers. I have no idea what nutrient I become so deficient in that I must have fried chicken livers - but they only are even tolerable by me when I am craving them... and Chicken Express is one of the few places that carries fried chicken livers. They do a fair job with them. Just a few bites and my cravings are over, but while I'm fulfilling the craving, they are more than adequate. The corn on the cob is nice and fresh and their chicken strips are REAL breast meat... really good when they're fresh. read more

Horrible experience! Speaker was out and there was a printed piece of paper on the menu asking to drive up to the window. We waited 5 minutes idling in our car. Finally I had to call the store number to have the lady in there get up from the front of the store where she was sitting to tend to us in a very monotone and sluggish manner. When she came to the window she had no mask on or gloves, when she went to the back to make our order since she was the only one working there she still dint use gloves or mask to handle the food. I know because I drove up and looked back into the kitchen area through the window, when she came back to deliver our food still no mask or gloves. When I asked for a straw since we weren't given one, she stated that they dint have any in a very aggravated tone of voice. I know that these places order bulk and by the thousands when it comes to straws, but they very well could have been out. Judging by the way this place runs it makes sense how someone could have done a poor job with their inventory. I called the franchise office and submitted a formal complaint. ****I'd like to start by saying Chicken E is probably my fave fast food place. I love that tea so much. And I've lived in Texas since 1989 so I've been eating there over 30 years. And before today, i have never had an issue like this one. Both my bf and I have worked in the restaurant industry so we're always cool about asking for mistakes or some issue to be fixed. People mess up, no biggie, just make it right. And I'm absolutely not the type of person that thinks the customer is always right**** Worst experience ever. Tried to have a late lunch here today, Nov. 24@245 pm. There were no other customers. It took a little long for someone to come take my order. I thought maybe they're doing side work. Did a basic order, #2 roll, corn nuggets, sub corn nuggets for the drink, 2 sweet teas. The foods taking kinda long. I'm thinking they're making fresh corn nuggets or something. When it does finally come, The chicken is barely warm. Colder than if you were to have gone to the drive thru and gone all the way home before eating. At this point, it's not a big deal to me. It happens and normal places will just remake it. The guy at the counter coped an attitude. That's when we notice only one order of the corn nuggets are hot. So, it really hit the fan when we ask for fresh corn nuggets. The guy behind the counter starts yelling that "there's no rule saying food has to be hot out of the fryer" and he " just ate a tender and they are warm enough". I'm pretty sure the Health Department has strong feelings on food temperature, sir. By now I've heard enough and I go to the counter and ask for the manager (my bf was the one that took the old food and was having the back and forth with the Children E guy). Turns out it was THE OWNER that was being so unprofessional!!!!!!! I tell him just issue a refund we didn't want anything. He actually yelled at me that he'd give my money back after he says what he wants to say since he had to listen to us "bitch". He claims that he doesn't care if his food isn't hot when he eats out. And all's we wanted was fresh out of the fryer hot. He was partially correct, I do want food that I've ordered to be hot and not old. I don't expect my food to be prepared after I placed my order at a fast food joint. I know fast food places have stuff ready to go right out the door. Duh. But that food is supposed to be at a certain temp to be safe and there's no way that's what he was serving. There's was zero reasons for the owner to speak to customers the way he was. He really did make a mountain out of a molehill. He could have just remade the order and at least act apologetic or do the refund......it took 5 minutes before he would give money back. It should also be noted that the only people working there was the owner and a brand new employee he was training. The owner was on register, drive thru, cook and training. That made me wonder if the owner acts the way he did all the time and he can't even keep help. I've never seen less than 6 people working a shift at any Chicken E I've been. Thank goodness I don't live in Kaufman because I'd have to give up the sweet tea I love so much. I will never give the Kaufman Chicken E another penny. The owner needs to hire a real manager that knows what they are doing (hell, even if they only know 1/2 what to do) and let them run the business and he can pay the bls and make the big decisions. I've read many reviews on this location and 96% of them are bad. Going years back. I highly recommend just going to the KFC across the street and get your sweet tea from the Sonic. Well, unless your enjoy paying to get verbally abused by a stranger. I hope the new trainee saw all this go down and realizes this Chicken E is not the place to work. If that's how the owner talks to paying customers,, he's most likely 1,000,000 times worse to his employees (hence the lack of employees, I'm guessing anyway). read more

Chicken Express in Kaufman is NEVER OPEN!!!! And from the chicken leg photo, they don't know how to cook chicken even if they were open. Why did they even build it here if it wasn't going to be open for business??? Lots of money wasted on a franchise if you ask me. read more

Worse place ever! I keep giving them chances and they keep failing me. All three times I waited for a long period of time at the drive thru window because the intercom does not work.... over a year span. After waiting for a period of time, I had to call the number to just get someone to come to the window and then they were out of two of the things I wanted to order. I would rather drive 10 minutes farther to the other chicken express. I would not suggest to go to the one. It would be a waste of your time. Pulled into the drive thru and asked twice if the dining room was open and wasn't answered so I asked again and a different person responded. When we can inside to order the woman behind the counter was not very friendly. My mother ordered the number 4 and she asked her what two pieces of chicken she wanted and my mother told her breast and thigh with side of okra. Her meal wasn't brought out or rang up. Horrible experience with John the owner. No one wears masks whether cooking or packing or customer facing. Attempted via several managers to log a complaint. Each one said John would call me. Finally had manager call him while I was at the restaurant. John first said there is probably a reason I had not heard from him. He said "I do not return customer complaint calls". He said he is not concerned with complaints about missing items, bad food or customer service. I asked if a serious issue such as the heath and well being of his staff and customers as his staff were not adhering to guidelines warranted a discussion. This Chicken Express is an awful location. The drive-thru box is broken and has been for a while. It says pull to the window and I did, than we waited about 15 minutes and at this point I'm getting ticked off. I go inside and the lady upfront says she saw us but was filling other orders. Like the lack of customer care, it's one thing to be ignorant to the things your doing, but to leave someone you saw waiting for 15 minutes (no exaggeration) is rude and how you lose business. read more

This is a small community so if youve been in the store a few times you get treated like a good neighbor. Brian the cook is terrific, extremely polite and you can tell he loves his job. They only gave me 3 strips which i order more and they was nasty they taste like burnt smoke or cigarette ashes maybe because the employees was outside smoking. This particular location is not well operated on several levels. It's dirty, run down, the staff is not well trained or managed. Chicken Express is a great concept. Try the Seagoville location and you will be much happier. read more

I'm highly impressed with the improvements of this chicken express with the last year or so. The staff is always courteous and the lobby and bathrooms are always clean. I recently had a very pleasant with a gentleman by the name of Eric which held the door as we arrived and again as we left. That was a first for me from a chicken express. I had to take away one star because I have a complaint about service. I went into this particular store at 7 pm on a weeknight. I ordered the 8 piece chicken only to be told that they are sold out of everything except wings and thighs. It's only 7 pm, couldn't they cook more? I would have waited the extra 15 minutes it took to make it. I was so disgusted with the response that I didn't ask; I just left the store and it will probably be a long time before I go back.
