Ate there yet again today (I should buy stock in it - ha-ha!). The owner knows my usual order by heart - a grilled chicken salad with ranch dressing, a large rice, and a bottled water. But today I switched it up - I had a half-chicken all-white and a large rice. Chicken Planet's prices have crept up slowly since they moved to their present location a couple years ago (for example, the half chicken all-white with a side is now $6.34, without a side $6.11, grilled chicken salad $6.34, a large side $3.17, and a bottled water $1.00), but the staff is always friendly, the service is very fast, and the food is really tasty, so it remains a good value. read more

Clearly a local favorite and I understand why. Tried their salsa and bbq sauce, both are good... The salsa does have a bit of a kick. What a little treasure. They only make grilled chicken, but it is absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced (dare I say, it's cheap). You'll often see a line out the door at the lunch rush, but because they only make one thing and have a very efficient system, you'll find you go from waiting around the block to walking out with your lunch in under 10 minutes. It's really impressive. The sides are fine but not great, but it's all about the chicken. The owner works the register and he always remembers me (even after weeks or months without being there). When I do work in the Loop, I go to lunch here at least twice a week. It's $7 for a half chicken with a side and a large Coke. You cannot beat that. You can order, eat there, and be gone in under 15 minutes. They are constantly cleaning the service station and tables. The staff is friendly and polite, even during the rushes. Plus, it's pretty neat to watch them grilling 70 chickens at once. That's a nice bonus. An oddity: although there isn't much seating, it seems you can always find a table at the busiest time (around noon, because most office people are taking a quick lunch so they get their food to go), but if you go around 1:30-3:00 in the afternoon, you'll see a much shorter line, but everyone is eating their food at the restaurant, so it's harder to find a seat. If you're willing to wait 5-10 minutes at that time, something always opens up, but just something to keep in mind. Either way, this place is an absolutely perfect spot for a quick lunch during the workday. Clean, inexpensive, fast, delicious, and an owner and staff that appreciate their customers. By far the best deal in the loop. Chicken is great, always fresh and juicy, and I have had multiple sides that were all great. (Although the mashed potatoes are a favorite). I want to first off say I have been eating a chicken roll sandwich almost every day for lunch for about 2 1/2 months since I've known about the place. I'm apparently a creature of habit. ALL the food here is delicious!!! The chicken is so juicy and grilled to perfection. On my chicken roll specifically I get cheese, mayo... And then I dip it in honey Dijon sauce! So good!! The pita type bread it's wrapped in is so buttery-tasting! I think all the staff there is great, respectful, attentive, and really quick! The owner mans the register (which tells a lot about his enthusiasm/consideration for his company) he's very nice and personable. I had lunch today and I loved the food! Great place to eat lunch but it's a very small place and it's hard to find a seat during lunch time so I had to find a place to eat outside. I got the quarter chicken ( white meat) which is a chicken breast and chicken wing with a piece of chicken breast attached to it. I got a side of mashed potatoes and half pita bread. I visit my chiropractor in an office building just across the street from Chicken Planet. I have noticed on several occasions how busy the place is and have often tried to go in to see what all the fuss is about. Most of the time I could not get through the door. But today, there was no one in line and I was finally able to try it. First and foremost is the service. Very poor. I told the cashier it was my first time there and I was not familiar with the menu but she still expected me to order like I was a regular and knew exactly how to order. I didn't know the sides and I didn't know I had an option for 1 or 2 sides. I ended up ordering one side. It was obvious that she didn't care it was my first time there; nor did she care if I returned. Now the food. It was okay. I was expecting to hear music when I bit into that chicken but it really was just average. No music. I asked for two pieces of dark meat but I got two dark pieces and one white; which at first sight seems like a bonus. But the pieces were very small, which may be why the extra piece was added. I like the fact that an attempt was made to compensate for the small pieces but another piece of dark meat would have been a better substitute since I ordered dark meat. The chicken was a bit dry but had a good flavor. I ordered the mashed potatoes for my side and it was clear that they were instant potatoes. Now I am not knocking instant potatoes. I use them myself; but when you eat mine they do not taste like instant potatoes. For the money the meal was okay. I am a stickler on customer service though. Maybe the service would have been better if the line was out the door as normal. I may give them another try. I give most business at least 3 attempts before I quit them all together. read more

The flavor and texture are not what you get at corporate chicken franchises or the typical deep fried breaded chicken joints. You have to try it to believe it. Just came from this place. I heard it was good so I tried really hard to make it before they close. I made it at 4:30 and they close at 5, and I wanted to eat there really quick but they put my food in a to go bag and I did not feel welcome to eat there since I felt very rushed by them. They were nice enough but I also don't like that they didn't even give me a fork to eat my food and instead gave me a spoon as if that would help. So not only did I not have a place to eat at but didn't have anything to eat it with. :( the older guy was very nice but the younger one just did not seem like he wanted to make an effort to give his customer the expected good food they are known for. That upset me. The chicken looks cold and dry as if it had been ready for awhile and just put it in a bag and gave it to me. He was lazy I guess. read more
