The Chicken Tortilla Soup and Pasta Salad were great, but the Mac & Cheese stole the show--it was incredibly creamy and had that "homemade" feel. The Grape Salad was a winner, and you can't beat the complimentary cookie with that signature buttercream frosting. They have cake looks amazing.b Whatever you do, get the Freshly Brewed Peach Tea. I bought a large and a small container of chicken salad last week at the store in Prattville. This is the first issue that I have had with the store. This was a take out order. After I opened the small container of chicken, I found a dark hair in the food. I threw the container of food out and I will not purchase anything else at the store. I just assumed that anyone preparing food would have their hair covered but I guess not . Since I am a blond, I know it was not not hair. I hope from now on and for the sake of others that employees who are handling food will wear head coverings. read more

Puhleez open one in Kansas City so I don't have to stalk you across the south I enjoy the pasta salad, too, though it's not doused in as much sauce as I'd have chosen for myself. But still good. CSC, boasting "The Best Chicken Salad in the South" offers so many variations of chicken salad you might just find mama's in there somewhere...On second thought, nah, I doubt it. I'm a hearty eater, so just thinking about going to a place that specializes in chicken "salad" runs counter to my epicurean thought processes. However, my wife and I have enjoyed 50 years of sharing ideas and food venues, so her recommendation of going to CSC was easily accepted by me. We chose to visit Prattville, AL since it is on our list of stop 'n go breaks between Tennessee and the Florida Panhandle's Emerald Coast. By the way, there are CSC franchises all over the Southeast quadrant of the USA - from Dallas, TX to Greensboro, NC and from Bradenton, FL to Hendersonlle, TN. When you walk in, you'll be welcomed by a bright, warm and sunny interior decorated in an upscale-contemporary vibe. Step up to the counter under the "Order Here" sign and be prepared to be nearly overwhelmed by the choices and combinations offered. Unsure? Have no fear, CSC will gladly provide a tasting sample (about a tablespoonful in a mini cup) which is more than enough for a quick judgement. A dozen offerings are listed at the Prattville location along with 2 kinds of Pimento Cheese (regular and spicy) -- as well as before it was hatched....Egg Salad. Oh, and Mac and Cheese or a side or soup are also on the menu! Little chicks and chickadees can also have PB&J or a turkey sandwich. Order yours as a sandwich or as a scoop accompanied by Townhouse wheat crackers or on the side of a salad. We tasted several of the concoctions before settling on more than half of the 12 between us. The Traditional is just that....regular Chicken salad with "secret seasoning" - meh. Olivia's Old South is also pretty traditional in a southern sort of way. On the other hand and along savory lines, my wife especially liked Lauryn's Lemon and Basil while I was pleased with the Barbie-Q. Nothing exceptional here with the latter, just some good BBQ flavor with a little taste of tomato and a hint of smoke. The Fruity and Nutty variations were the flavor stars for us - and the added texture of apples, grapes, and pecans added sweetness and crunch to Fancy Nancy! The Cranberry and Almond was a tantalizeng taste treat too. On another level, my "hot" tooth didn't quite become satisfied with CSC's spicy renderings; each of the three had just a hint of heat but nothing that lingered very long...blame it on the mayo tempering the zing? Finally, while we didn't try the Pumpkin Cheesecake dessert, we did get to sample a very sweet side consisting of red & white seedless grapes covered in a sweet cream cheese mixture and topped with brown sugar & crushed pecans. Really, really good! To top things off, a complementary buttercream frosted sugar cookie finished us off! So, maybe it wasn't mama's chicken salad, but it certainly was worth this visit and likely a return trip soon. read more

Traveling thru Alabama, found this place on Yelp. I was not disappointed. When you order a scoop of chicken salad, you get a side or a second scoop of chicken salad. Tried the Buffalo Barclay and the Cranberry Kelli. Both were very tasty. You can also get sandwiches. Very good prices. The only down side was, because the salads were already mixed, they couldn't change any of the mixtures. I don't like pecans, so that eliminated a couple of choices for me. This place is great too if you want something low carb as you can get scoops of the chicken salad versus getting it on a sandwich if you prefer. I loved it so much I ate here a couple of times. There's a large dining room so there's plenty of places to sit. Also they have both a front and back entrance so don't let the filled parking spots in the front throw you off. My experience today, however, was highly disappointing. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich on a croissant, which was stale. They skimped on the amount of chicken salad too. I've visited several Chicken Salad Chicks many times each, always getting the sandwich on a croissant. This one was subpar. If my visit today was my first experience at a Chicken Salad Chick I would be hesitant to return based on the quality of food for the price.
