The old store including the staff was much better! Do not waste your time as the staff now is rude, unhelpful and if you ask for help it is like they are doing you a favor. I went in specifically based on a email from Chicos with a coupon to use. After spending a hour looking and trying on I was going to but over $240 until Angie said the coupon was not usable . I got this on Wednesday and it was Friday afternoon! So I left with zero as will not go to that store anymore. The staff in the bigger better store on El Paseo was night and day sadly . I have shopped at this store for many years with wonderful friendly staff. Sadly, today was MUCH different. I had a return and the miserable associate, Monica had a bad attitude from the start. I was told I could do an even exchange from someone over the phone and tried to explain this situation. Monica, the miserable associate said she needed to speak. She was not apologetic regarding the situation and told me to listen to her. I understand if the item couldn't be returned for an even exchange but her attitude is not up to par with what I thought is Chicos standards. I highly recommend she gets some training on customer service and learn how to speak to people in all situations. She is unprofessional. Avoid Monica like the plague. She needs to be out in the back of the store and deal with boxes and not people. read more

Linda and Gail were nice, They helped with the fitting room. The only reason I provided two stars is there are two other women working the registers, when I asked if they carried a certain chico item, they let me know it was an outlet only, almost belittling the outlet version? When I went to pay the cashier was a bit of a snob letting me know the capri or style i bought is out of season and it's a final sale. Definitely not going back to this "Chicos". Would rather go to the outlet and spoken to with kindness. read more

So my boyfriend takes me shopping 4 times a year at this location usually the staff is pleasant and I am a sale shopper so minimal help is needed. Today we were not greeted and the check out was horrible. There was an issue with the transaction next to me oh well but all 3 associates were fixated on this ladies return of 2 items thru PayPal and did not even speak to me other to say what's your phone number then crumpled up my blouse and silky pant threw them in the bag. No suggestion of jewelry etc shame my guy has a platinum amx I could have bought what ever I wanted. No excuse for being rude. read more

I went in the store to return some online merchandise that was of our quality & the man that waited on me was so unfriendly! Didn't say I'm sorry it didn't work for you or would you like to look around. When I received my credit, nothing from him! What a chip on his shoulder! Also, I still looked around to see if there was anything to try on. No help! No one approached me to say hello, may I help you or can I get a dressing room ! If I could post a zero or lower I would! I had to return a very large purchase I had made due to a misunderstanding when I ordered my merchandise online. The discount indicated was not applied. When I received the huge box (and I mean huge) I carried it into the store. The associate asked me what I wanted to do? I replied "return it all". She just said"ok". I asked her if she would like to know why? Her answer was "no!" Well I told her anyway. That left her with a blank face and a response of "is that all?" I then told her I was finished shopping with Chico's and would never come back! Her response was "ok!" Giving Chicos 3 stars since they are so limited in the petite sizes and in size 0 in the regular sizes. Suppose it's a global supply issue but frustrating. Regardless, tho, I was able to purchase several tops and order 2 more. My shopping experience was made especially fun because of one of the employees whose name was Pat. She was a delightful and very helpful sales associate, a true asset to Chicos. My daughter was with me as my 'consultant' and with her and Pat's help I ended up being very satisfied with purchases I probably would not have made without their input. The store has some decent items of clothing for older women. The staff, however, is rude and useless - with a few exceptions that are difficult to find. The manager is a real witch. She should be fired. Checkout is laborious and returns are made almost impossible. Don't even think about asking for an item placed on hold. No one will take the time to look for it. It is easier to order online than to go to this store. This Chicos store should be avoided at all costs. read more

Barbara is wayyy too hands on. She had welcomed me and even estimated my size in pants. She touched my jacket too.Then she directed me to clearance when I was already there and told me about the sale, which was not much. Then, she even PICKED UP SOME CLOTHES off the clearance rack and practically tried to sell it to us. That was the final straw. I don't need you to tell me what's great and what's not. Everyone has their own personal style, so you trying to tell me what's "nice" and what's not might not be what I like. And that's perfectly fine. I get that you're trying to be nice, but you might as well say "buy something please. I beg of you." It ruined my entire store experience. I had to walk out after that. I went shopping at Chicos this past weekend. They have a wonderful staff working there and they really know their stuff. The variety of merchandise is incredible. And the quality of their clothing is second to non. I was also pleasantly surprised the prices were not bad at all. I've noticed manufacturing/fabric defects in the clothing. Seam allowances are very narrow, skimpy. After gentle laundering 2 times the seam simply opened up. The threads unraveled, no way to repair without a wider seam allowance. This is the not the first time, will not buy online must be able to examine the quality of the fabric and workmanship. read more

I can find Chicos pants that fit, so that's why I go there. I'm an experienced shopper and I get annoyed with being approached every 5 minutes by a saleswoman telling me what goes with what and I should be looking at this and that..... I couldn't even get into the dressing room without a saleswoman telling me that I need a tank to go under the jacket I was trying on. I had to tell her that I want to just try on what I had in my hand and that's it. She just grunted and snarled at me. And please, put mirrors in the dressing rooms because when you have to go out of the room to find the mirror on the wall, you get accosted by the sales staff again. read more

Whenever I travel to Palm Springs, I seem to gravitate towards Chico's and some of the other ladies shops they have on Palm Canyon. All of these stores feature the type of resort wear that I would never even look at twice in the bay area. I think the heat gets to me and I imagine how nice it would be wearing a flowy caftan with strappy spike heel sandals and a big straw hat. Oh, and I'd also have a teacup white poodle with bows in its ears to complete my look. And then I get back to Oakland and ask myself what was the heck was I thinking when I bought this gauzy flowy top that has LARGE GOLD FLECKS on it? I ordered three pairs of Bermuda's and one pair of jeans from Chico's online. They were giving a 20% discount. The Bermuda's were too large so I went to Palm Desert Chico's to exchange. First the saleswoman told me I could not return them in the store because I had paid with Paypal. I told her that I was not aware of the policy and she pointed out the statement on the back of the return ship saying as much. I asked if i couldn't just switch them out since they had the size I needed and then a manager was called. She said absolutely no they could not be switched out but had to be returned. OK, so I told them I would go ahead and purchase in the right size and send the larger ones back later. She offered to send them back for me which was nice and I said great. When I started to purchase the smaller shorts I said, I assume I will be paying the same price for these shorts. Oh no, she said, We don't price match!!!!!!! So she wouldn't take them back, and when I went to purchase the same thing she was going to charge me $20.00 more per pair which would have been $100.00 on the lot!!! No to mention she was pretty snotty about the whole thing. I left with the large shorts and will return them myself. I have been shopping at Chico's for years. Needless to say I will not be shopping the Palm Desert store ever again. BEWARE!! read more

I purchased a pair of jeans from Chicos took them home and wahed them and when I took them out they had 2 rips in them. When I took them back I was told that that is how they came. When I tried them on there were no rips or else I would not have purchased them. They just lost 2 customers since my mother in law will no longer shop there read more

Not too impressed with this store. It is large but almost sterile feeling. This is in stark contrast to their sister store Soma that adjoins them. The sales people are pushy - not pleasant and helpful. I like to take my time and peruse and get in my shopping"zone" - but every few minutes someone is trying to "suggest" I look at something else. Huge store, lots of merch, but consistently lousy customer service. A unique and annoying combination of pushy + absent...always. The associates take the clothes to the fitting rooms, then ignore you til you're over-ready to try them on, and then begin to push other merchandise on you and be quite aggressive. All of the salespeople are consistently not friendly, neither warm nor welcoming. I keep hoping that the attitude changes, but no. I've lived part-time in the desert for 10+ years, have shopped here on and off throughout, and it's always the same. Really bad and a shame, as the store is lovely and has a big assortment of all sorts of Chico's stuff. If you like Chico's and choose to shop here, just be forewarned..you'll need to help yourself at first and then fend off the big sales push, all while hearing music that's usually too loud. read more

I needed an outfit for a wedding, my mom suggested we try Chico's because loves their clothes. I was not having any luck with finding a size that fit me. The sizing is a bit different at Chico's, but I was told that larger sizes were available to order. Sales associate Jeremy was so helpful trying to find something that would work for me. I was not finding anything that fit me. I gave up, but Jeremy did not. He was so awesome! He found me a jacket that would be perfect, but not in my size, so he had the right size sent directly to me. Jeremy was so knowledgeable about the clothes and I am so thankful that he did not give up on me! What a wonderful associate Jeremy is! Exceptional customer service! read more

Found some pants I liked. Signs all over the store that by texting A message I would receive an additional 10% off. I texted at the checkout but did not receive a response. The clerk then informed me that if it was a Canadian number I was not eligible for the discount. Clerk did not offer anything and did not seem to care. Seriously!?!? I left the store without purchasing the pants and am highly unlikely to return and will be telling my Canadian friends as well. Chicos has terrible customer service. If you do not walk in there looking like you have a lot of money no one will even bother trying to help you. My Yaya had been a loyal customer for many years spending thousands of dollars at this establishment. She recently passed away and while I was going through her things there were a few items that I liked but did not fit me with the tags still on. I figured I would go to the store and ask to exchange them for a size that would. The man at the register stated there was no way to actually tell If I had paid for these items unless they could pull them up on their computer even though the tags were still on. I was not asking for cash or store credit, but what I wanted was to exchange these three items for a different size. He raised his voice in front of the other customers to reiterate the fact that again there was no way to know that I actually paid for these items. I felt embarrassed and disgusted and left the store immediately. My mom has also spent a lot of money there and we will no longer be purchasing anything at Chico's. I have tried repeatedly to stay away from the Chico's at this address due to it's aggressive , phoney sales ladies. Their tactics are so obvious it is pathetic. Today I was walking through the store to go to Soma, my favourite and along the way spied some tops I thought worthy of trying on ... withing 3 minutes of holding some items in my hands, 6 women approached me to ask me to show me to a dressing room... one woman, whom I have seen in action before came up with a new line "I can I put those clothes in a dressing room another sales person has started for you ??" Honey, this isn't my first rodeo ... I have been in retail for years, I'm a seasoned shopper and I know when I'm being had. I finally got angry with the last person to come up with some "can I help you" scam, and snapped. She said, Oh, I'll try to keep people away from you." Really??? are you serious?? Who thinks on any level this kind of behaviour is acceptable??? Am I the only person who enjoys shopping, browsing and choosing what I want to try on, and ultimately buy. I can access Soma from the street and never set foot in the chico store itself again ... oh, thank you, what a relief. read more

Yesterday I purchased several hundreds of dollars worth of things at Soma and was so pleased with their personalized attention, despite how incredibly busy they were. I love Chicos and wanted to try on 2 tops and waited in line for a dressing room. Because the fitting rooms were full, I was told to stand in line, which I did for 10 minutes. A different associate went to a written waiting list and added several names. I said " Excuse me, I've been standing in line for10 minutes already" so she added me to the BOTTOM of the list...no apologies, nothing! At that point I walked out. This dressing room was in the front of the store, not the back and the associate had longer black hair. Very disappointed with how I was treated, and I've been a customer of Chico's for many, many years!! read more
