Just had Chief out to check our septic Daren and another person came out on sat. we had no clean out so Dane cuts a 4x3 hole in our septic line for his probe, found tank dug it out pumped it out placed small piece of plastic over hole said good to go and left. later that day septic backs up and comes out Darens hole call chief and Daren basically got the dont bother us youre paid up. so for anyone else having unknown septic issues call a plumber because Chief has only people with poor work ethics and lack of knowledge of septic systems just pump operators and not very professional read more

When we purchased our house 6 years ago. After asking for recommendations, I called Chief Septic to come out to clean out our septic system. They said everything was fine. I then had them come out 3 years ago to drain it as part of the regular maintenance. The driver came out, serviced the system, and left. I called to schedule another service this year and didn't expect any problems. A very grumpy guy showed up, spent a bit of time looking at things, and then told me that because of the way the system was set up, he couldn't do anything. I told him his company had already cleaned it out twice and he just shrugged before leaving. Called another local company and had them out today. Not only did they do a great job but the driver, who was very nice, told me he pulled about 12 garbage bags of wipes, feminine products, and other stuff that should never be flushed into a septic system! I have had septic in all but 1 home I have owned and know what not to flush. All of this stuff was left there by previous owners and was completely overlooked by Chief Septic. They never mentioned it and if left there, it could have caused MAJOR problems. This is the short version. Basically this company was hired by George to drain his septic tank. They charged extra to locate the top of the tank and still couldn't find it. Ultimately they ended up hooking 2 sprinkler lines. Ripping them off of the valve manifold. George had shut the water off to the system prior to the septic drain service bc a few of the sprinklers were leaking. So when the damage occurred water did not spray out everywhere like normal. When George said something to the tech he responded with nothing is broken it should be fine. Here it is 4 months later and George is ready to turn the system back on and it is mangled beyond repair. But bc it has been 3-4 months since it happened the company wants to ignore tha t they are still responsible for what happened. Phone games for 2 weeks back and forth to speak with a manager. That never happened. Karen was the only person I could get in contact with. And completely dismissed any damages done by the backhoe. I was trying tohelp an old man out by seeing if they would compensate him for part of the repair costs that he paid out of pocket. Ultimately I had to rebuild the entire valve manifold and Karen had the nerve to tell me I charged him too much to fix it 3 days of digging and searching. I reduced the 8 valves down to 4 valves, fixed the landscaping and installed a new valve box. Sorry Karen. $200 would Not cover the cost of repair No matter what company you called. read more

They were recently out to my house to clean out my septic tank and I learned a lot talking to their employee as he worked. I have a 2000 gallon septic tank and their big truck holds 3,850 gallons so you can see they need to go to the dump every couple of jobs. A septic tank drains from the top so it will normally be full, unlike the holding tank of an RV which will range from empty to full. For a routine clean out every few years you are really paying them to get the sludge off the bottom of the tank before the sludge rises to the level of the outflow and blocks your outflow. (The pump ous also gets rid of oil and fats floating on the top which can clog your septic field.) Unfortunately, to get rid of the sludge (and oil and fat) they have to complete suck out all the fluid in the tank and use a large hoe to scrape around the bottom. So, the honesty of the employee in doing a thorough job of scraping up all the sludge is what you are paying for, not the mere removal of a lot of fluid. In my case they came when they said they would, charged what they said they would and I am satisfied that the employee did an excellent job in getting rid of all of the sludge. (He worked the hoe and hose quite a bit.) read more

I called daily trying to pre-pay, asked to be there for the inspection and wasn't called after waiting around all day, asked for a drawing, and was eventually referred to the health district website. It was like pulling teeth trying to get anything accomplished. I used these guys when I first bought my house in 2012 to pump the septic and to create an opening for it in the back yard. I had to call them today because I had a flood which started in the guest toilet. Needed a septic tank pumped. These guys came out during the time period they gave (4 hour window I believe it was). Donnie & Johnny. The one guy (of the two) had a little blonde pony tail & seemed to be in charge. Both guys were friendly. Blonde pony tail guy said he'd been doing this kind of work for as long as he remembered. What struck me was how friendly he was. Smiling and joking while doing this dirty job of cleaning out the septic tank. They had a gigantic truck and a long slurpy straw that went thru the back yard. They located the septic tank underneath the ground also & dug it up with another big digging machine. Sorry, I'm a girl, I don't know what those machines are called. I am surprised by a couple bad reviews on Yelp. Maybe they are old reviews or different workers but this job -on this day- was a GREAT experience & done right! Highly Recommend ! I had a septic tank in hard to reach part of my property , after calling 4 different companies I was told their trucks only carry 50 feet of hose , I needed about 100 plus a 10 foot drop to the tank . The person that answered the phone asked me a few questions about the ,location , any emergencies etc then scheduled me for the next day . On that day before the truck arrived he personally came out to look at everything . The truck came and the tech did his thing emptied the tank , checked the whole system and explained each step of the process. After scheduling a late morning appointment for 10:30, the guy finally shows up at 1:15pm and raises his voice because we would be there in 8 minutes and then proceeds to tell me they can't pump the septic via the pipe that was installed by the contractor to pump the tank and when I tried asking why he raised his voice again and then hung up on me. Darren and his guy were there on time, quickly located the tank, dug down to the lid, and an hour and a half later, DONE! (Darren even took the time to reset my breaker switch so my A/C came on. YAY!) About pricing. It was very clear to me from the get-go that $375 represents the price for just pumping if the lid is close to the surface (no massive digging required). If they require the backhoe, etc., the price is $800. I really felt I was in great (professional) hands with no film-flam or fudging involved. I just moved in. My septic system backed up. Slow drains, water in the tub, gurgling toilets etc. After trying to snake out any possible clogs from the roof vent, I caved in and figured my septic tank needed to be pumped. Because I didn't exactly know where my septic tank was, I couldn't dig it up before hand. They came and tried to find my tank by flushing a homing device down my toilet. The device quickly got stuck inside the pipes of my home, clearly indicating a clog. At that point, I should have stopped and called a plumber. But since they were already there, and I wasn't sure of the last time the tank was pumped, I figured it should be done anyway. Preventative maintainance and all that....Heads up: If you have these guys dig up your tank for you, it'll be $875. Damn. Now that I know where my tank is, I'll definitely be digging it up myself in the future prior to pumping. In the process of exploratory digging looking for my tank, they cracked a pipe with their backhoe. Not a big deal in itself. I get it. Accidents happen. But then they had the gaul to charge me $125 dollars in "parts" for 2 feet of ABS pipe. I guess they figure I can't go online and see for myself how cheap ABS pipe is. Clearly that $125 was padded. Since my tank was now dug up, I asked them to check out the system and see if everything looked to be draining ok. Like if they could inspect everything and give it a good bill of health. I was (and am still) concerned maybe the leech field wasn't in great shape, or the tank wasn't draining properly to the leech field. I'm not sure they did much of anything regarding "inspecting" the system, but they assured me it was "good" then tried to snake out the clog in my house plumbing from the break in the pipe. Whatever they did failed, cause less than a week after, I am backing up again. I fear that I do have a problem with my drain field since I started backing up again after the rain. But I am frankly hesitant to call these guys back. They were very polite, and very professional, don't get me wrong. And they pumped the tank, like I asked. But the reason I wanted the tank pumped was because of backup issues, which clearly did not get fixed. Consequently I am not sure about their troubleshooting /diagnostic skills and now I am $1000 poorer, and still have water coming up my drains. I dislike companies that go straight for the "big ticket" fix instead of taking the time to truly diagnose the problem. So, looking for another septic company at this point. Or maybe I will start with a plumber first.... read more
