Came here with my 4 kids and we were all satisfied! Cheeseburger 10/10 according to 2 picky tweens. Chicken strip meal was big enough for our 3 & 4 yr olds to split easily. As a New Yorker I am reluctant to order pizza away from home but I have been pleasantly surprised twice! The toppings are fresh and there is an adequate variety, pizza has a great balance and cooked nicely. Staff is personable in person and on the phone; ambience on both the take out and dine in/bar side is quaint. prices are fair. So happy we stopped in here! We got a pretty random assortment of food and were not disappointed at all! We started off with an appetizer pretzel that was soft and hot and the cheese dipping sauce was perfect. I got a Pike Pole Honey beer and for someone who doesn't love beer I was floored. Normally I take a sip and move on but not today. I will be thinking about that beer for a while. For lunch we got a gyro with tater tots, Philly cheesesteak with onion rings and a mini pizza with pepperoni and bacon. The gyro had the perfect amount of everything! The onion rings and tater tots were large portions and crispy. The Philly cheesesteak was soft and flavorful (my husband said it could use a bit more cheese but I liked it as is). My son got the pizza and it was fantastic. Lots of cheese, lots of meat and the right amount of sauce. I would happily recommend anyone come here! Chief Springs was our first brewery that we went to while on a trip to the Walla Walla area not too long ago. They brew their own beer so this definitely made it a stop for us while we were touring the area sampling beer and wine. The theme for the place is fire fighter oriented and I can see why... Dayton is surrounded by the Palouse hills which are quite dry and prone to fires so it's a fitting tribute I'm sure. We only tried beer here but the food menu looked very enticing like their pizzas for example. I had the Pike Pole Honey while Steve had the Wind Farm Wheat. Both beers were very refreshing and hit the spot perfectly as we were looking for lighter beers to try. Service and the staff were friendly making this a worthwhile stop on our tour through the area. read more

We had excellent pizza, beer and service when we went to Dayton to watch a movie at the Liberty Theater. Fun date night. Chief Springs Pizza really is some of the best pizza I can remember. And the beer selection and quality are great. There is only one kitchen, and so everything is walked into this dining area from the next building. Not a problem. Next time I will pass on the salad. It's really small and comes in a styrofoam box. Not my expectation or style. But the pizza, beer and locals make the trip to Dayton well worth it. Enjoy. read more

I have season passes to Bluewood and come through Dayton all the time during the winter and have been here several times before without incident. pizzas are great. Good atmosphere, good beers, no drama. Went for lunch on October 3rd, 2022 after a day fishing on the river. Had a microbrew fire ladder or something IPA which was decent and ordered food. Had a second beer waiting for food to come. Ruben was very mediocre. Bread was dried out and shouldn't have been used, super light on sauerkraut, heavy on sauce, pastrami was chopped like they used whatever they had left over and missing on about half of the sandwich. Fries were as expected and good. Ordered a third beer and was told we're cut off because the beers are stronger than normal. We had been there Just short of two hours at this point and the beer I was drinking is at 5.25% alcohol. I'm 6'6 300 lb and often frequent microbreweries all over the region. I know my alcohol tolerance well, and I have not been cut off at a bar since I was in my early twenties, almost two decades ago. Meanwhile, she was also over serving a little 100lb old lady at the end of the bar who was drinking before we arrived, slurring when we got there. Witnessed her being served three glasses of cider which is a higher alcohol percentage than what was apparently too strong for me. I was Not visibly drunk, I was not being loud or disturbing and my friend and I were having a good conversation with the other bartender. Just sitting at the bar with a friend and having a few beers. Lead Bartender is obnoxious, witnessed her tearing into another customer at the counter about how they pronounced Oregon and insisting that Oregon isn't spelled with an o between gon. Then she was also super pissy about the Oregon ducks, Then also described an interaction where she was wearing Oregon duck shoes and the owner told her the shoes are "gay shoes" as a derogatory slur and implying that the owner is a bigoted jackass. I can only imagine we were cut off and kicked out because my friend asked her what she means by gay shoes and asked her not to be offensive. Tl;Dr. Don't go here if you can avoid it. If you have to, Sick to pizzas, Order takeout. Don't order Ruben sandwich. read more

I have stopped at Chief Springs many time on my trips through Dayton. The food is great, I love the atmosphere of the quaint little pub. The employees are so fun to visit with. Melissa has been our wait person several times and is always so friendly. We enjoy her joking banter with our group. Linda S I was just checking my review and noticed another review by a not so happy customer about being cut off from alcohol and an employee who was rude and certainly a Oregon football fan. I can can say that people who get cut off at bars never think they are intoxicated, but with the way laws are written the employee may have saved that business a hefty fine. (At least that's the way it is in California). From the sound of his complaint he may have been talking about Mel, her banter with the customers is nothing but playful, the owners are lucky to have her.
