This place is always hopping. To go orders are ready when promised. Lots of vegetarian options. Good soups. Staff are always smiling, friendly and efficient. My girlfriend and I were wondering around Downtown Walla Walla WA, and we decided to try something new! A sandwich and soup shop named "Stone Soup" was near by. The shop was small but cute and clean! The employees were helpful and friendly. My girlfriend and I split the turkey ranch sandwich and both had soup. The price was fair and reasonable. However, the food was slow to arrive to our table. I think we waited for approximately 20-25 minutes for the sandwich and soup. Nevertheless, the food was amazing and it was just enough to fill both of us up on a cold winter day! It was very crowded and a but intimidating when I went to order. I felt a tad rushed, but I ended up getting tomato soup to eat there, and half a egg salad to go separately. They got my name and apparently it sat in the bag. The egg salad on sourdough was smushed a bit. It was good, but I wasn't taken by flavor. The mini cookie was a nice touch. Stone Soup Cafe is located in Walla Walla, Washington. I have to chuckle when I hear the name Walla Walla, Washington. As a kid I heard this city referenced in Bugs Bunny cartoons when he would do his sales pitch from the "Wishy Washy Washing Machine Company from Walla Walla, Washington. I digress. We were wine tasting and as Long Duk Dong would say, "Donger need food". Stone Soup Cafe was highly recommended by the wineries we had visited that morning. We ordered at the counter; wife had half grilled cheese with a cup of broccoli cheddar soup and I ordered the special cajun chicken ceasar wrap. Order was delivered to our table rather quickly. My wrap was huge and bursting with flavor and my wife's grilled cheese was good but she was not as impressed with the soup. Each order receives a little chocolate chip cookie included as a bonus. The cafe has plenty of seating and tables were spread out as per C-19 restrictions. Stone Soup Cafe was a wonderful choice for lunch especially after a morning of tasting wine. If Bugs was still making cartoons, I am sure he would mention the Stone Soup Cafe from Walla Walla, Washington. Worth a try! read more

I was expecting awesome soup, since it seems like a restaurant that specializes in soup. I ordered the baked potato soup and I had to throw the whole bowl out once I got home. It was like eating cream sauce. Straight butter, flour, milk. Just totally inedible. There were possibly 5 very small potato chunks, but no bacon (not that bacon is mandatory, but it seems standard), maybe there was some onion? No flavor, not even salt. It was truly inedible, unless you like to eat plain, thick cream sauce. The grilled cheese, however, was superb! read more

Not bad at all. I had the special of the day, which was a smoked turkey salad sandwich. The flavor of the meat was quite good, and the portion was good for the price. I also had a cup of the hamburger soup, which was OK. I didn't expect the bits of barley (or grain of some sort) in the soup, and didn't taste as much like hamburger as I had hoped. The owner is the most accommodating when our Men's basketball team came to Walla Walla. His cafe was closed on Sat but he came in specifically to prepare and serve our team. The boys loved the hearty and large sandwiches and all the fixins; and had an amazing dining experience after driving miles to get there. Summary: Outstanding Sandwiches & Soup While passing through Walla Walla recently, we Google'd "Walla Walla Restaurant" to find something good to eat - and discovered a few reviews raving about Stone Soup. This piqued our interest, so we plugged the address (105 E Alder St.) into our GPS and off we went. Stone Soup is a couple streets off the main drag (if there is such a thing) in Walla Walla, in a quiet area - we arrived about 3PM and were easily able to find free street parking. The restaurant was fairly empty - it appears that their busy time is lunch, but I can't verify how crowded it is then. We each ordered sandwiches (veggie for my wife, turkey for my son, and I had the Deli sandwich), and each was fresh and delicious. The sandwiches were made and delivered quickly, and the prices were reasonable. The place itself is clean and well-lit and, if it warms up a bit more, the outside seating area would be a nice place to eat. The people working here were friendly and helpful. This is *exactly* the type of place I wanted to find. People, if you're in Walla Walla and want a good sandwich at a reasonable price, you'd be hard pressed to do better than Stone Soup. Poor Walla Walla. Based on the busy flow, people really don't have much choice here. The potato salad was super blah! The Reuben was so oddly cooked it was like the cheese had been cooked days before the rest. The so-called Enchilada soup is a nightmare concoction that only those who live on TV dinners would call good or great. The cookie was nice and the two treats I took for a friend turned out ok. Turns out it is a good bakery, but should leave the food part behind. I was asked to use them as a caterer for an office lunch....I'm really not happy about that. I think Stone Soup is top notch! I've loved all the soups I've had there, especially the chicken enchilada that is now a permanent feature on their menu! It's not too thick to be overwhelming but still warm and filling. I've only had a couple of their sandwiches and they're pretty good. They have a lot of bread options. I wouldn't say that they are particularly special, just a general good sandwich. One thing I like is that they point out a few lite sandwiches on their menu if you are looking for a healthier option. They dish out orders pretty fast, you only have to wait for a couple minutes. Best part? They give you a little cookie! Youre retort is a lie. You did not talk about vine ripened tomatoes and i am aware of the difference. It doesnt change the fact that they were left out too long and mushy and your cucumbers flat and not crunchy. I am not obligated to tip the driver. It wasnt a pleasant experience.
