This place is normally pretty cool, has a great brunch that you should check out. But our bartender today, Sarah, was literally drunk at work. Watched her pour a personal wine while filling another cup after messing up 6 orders in a row. Place was at maybe 10% capacity but that was too much to handle. Two vodka sodas and a water? No problem, here is a neat pour i messed up, three more vodka sodas and a water that is 90% ice while spilling another shot on the bar. If u r gonna drink at work, make sure u can handle ur shit. Having brunch here was a very happy accident. 4 of us made the trek in from the East Bay to escape 100 degree weather (futile... it was 95 in SF!) wanting to have a full Irish breakfast at Fiddler's Green, a fave for years. That was a fail since when we arrived at 10:00am we were informed by the cleaner that they don't open until 11:30, despite their website advertising sat & sun brunch from 9-noon. Place looked way different from a few years ago too, in a bad way... So go home hungry or eat brunch in a tourist trap near by? Google Irish Breakfast and up come Chief Sullivan's and only a 10 minute Muni ride up Columbus. This place was WAY better than Fiddler's Green every was. Fun menu, great specials and the brunch drink menu has so many original twists on traditional brunch fare. Excellent Bloody Mary, Irish Mule and the special Mimosa of the day, with pomegranate juice. The food menu had way too many interesting and delicious sounding items, but we'd come for the Irish Breakfast so felt obligated. We'll try the other items next time (and there will definitely be a next time. Every part of the Irish breakfast was tasty, especially the white sausage. Some of the bet black sausage I've had as well. Didn't get a chance to peruse the lunch or dinner menus so can't comment on those (yet... watch for an update in the next few months). Service was really good too. The decor is "Early Century Firefighter". I'm betting hanging out here with a pint or two of Guinness would be a blast. read more

I have to say, I love North beach SF and it has so many great places to eat and drink. But I always make time to hit chief Sullivan's when I am here. Whether for a few choice beverages or some of their incredible Rueben Rolls (my fave app anywhere in SF .. sooo good try them) and dinner I always have a good time. They also have a very very good brunch on weekends (NFL season is packed so get there early on NFL Sunday's) The staff is amazing and all the bartenders are great, especially the amazing Valentyna, she is so fun and on top of it, but they all make wicked drinks with generous pours. Bottom line, when your in North Beach SF. Chief Sullivan's is a great Irish pub for food, fun, friends, beverages and GoodtimeS. read more

Horrible music... they've had bands on St. Patrick's Day in the past. They hired a DJ that played 20 year old rap. It was a joke. St. Patrick's Day parties don't need club dance music. Super disappointed this year. read more

Love this place, awesome staff, great food, best happy hour beers on draft for like $4. The soda bread is the bomb. I got a loaf of it to take home. They don't always have a loaf to sell so you need to get lucky. It has now become a joke with my friends because I always want to come here. read more

Will be checking it out tonight. As a geriatric Brit my yardstick is always the Fish 'n Chips, preferably in yesterdays newspaper, with malt vinegar. Guinness should be poured slow, left to settle, then topped off; thick creamy head with no bubbles; served at room temperature. Watch this space. OK. Updated to a 4, barely. Music is OK but way to loud and obtrusive in 'dining room', even in cozy fireplace 'snug' where I tried to re-romanticize my 'old lady', but that's cool, so are we. The SFFD was rocking in the bar. I prefer my F 'n C a little more 'crispy'. The Guinness was poured well but as usual you colonials serve it way to cold, check out 'mulled ale' if you wanna get full satisfaction; the 'wenches' were real cute, pleasant and professional. read more

Nice bar, they did a good job remodeling, but I asked them to turn on the sound for the Giants game after the USA vs Columbia game ended and they wouldn't do it, even though the sound for the soccer game was on. We were there to watch the Giants play, since there was no sound we left to watch it at a different bar. Not the best customer service. read more

Very nice bar, there is separate area from the bar, therefore they can hold a lot of people at once. Good vibe. We had a quick drink before seeing Beach Blanket Babylon. Every time I come here I like this place for another reason. Today we had a great bottomless mimosas brunch ($14) and the food was awesome. They also have a great happy hour with $4 drafts and cheap apps. Very cool atmosphere, solid music, good staff. Also they have a build your own Bloody Mary bar on weekends in the morning. Great local bar near Club Fugazi. It is still in the soft opening period as official opening is not scheduled for 10 days. Newly remodeled - used to be O'Reillys. Chief Sullivan was the SFFD Fire Chief in 1906 when the earthquake hit. Only fitting that I would have the Lillie Coit Gin & Tonic. Tastes wonderful with a hint of lavender and juniper berries. Bartenders (Wayne took care of us) were friendly and fast. Wayne is a transplant from County Cork Ireland. He still has a bit of the brogue. Giants game on the TVs. Great music playing but not so loud as to prevent you from talking to one another. Bar filled the entire time we were here. Will definitely return when in the area. read more

My first experience at Chief Sullivan's was very meh. That day we had a few drinks and the bartender had more than a few and was basically unable to serve people. After I reviewed it the owner reached out to me and offered us a gift card to give them another chance. I'm really glad she did that, because we've now been at at least a dozen more times and it has been good every time. We love the Friends with Benedicts and bloody mary bar for brunch, we've taken the Irish pub-obsessed in-laws for dinner, and we have dropped by for some football games or an Irish coffee by the fireplace and always super satisfied. Bartenders are friendly and happy to put your weird unpopular game on on request. Outside of breakfast time the menu feels a little limited and its hard to find something healthier - but that isn't why you came to a pub so go for those thick cut fries and any sandwich and you can't go wrong. read more

First impression: deco is amazing. Actually we went to Trestle for dinner but it left me and the beau hungry so we went for after drink+snack at Chief Sullivan's on Green St. The pork is so good. They should sell it as a mediocre fried chicken benedict, not a Seoul benedict. We visited the restaurant Saturday morning ~8:30 am for breakfast. I had the California scramble and my husband had the Basic Breakfast plus the complimentary biscuits and gravy. The breakfast, two buttermilk pancakes, and coffee were worth walking a mile. The stained glass is beautiful and the restaurant feels like an Irish pub. The service was super and we enjoyed the big screen TVs. We will visit again. read more

1st time and sadly last time visiting this popular establishment. My wife and I were excited to check out this place but upon leaving realized ok well that didn't meet standards we anticipated. Granted we really didn't have high expectations, just kept an open mind. When we were there an hour not having our order taken and tables on either side of us being served their drinks and food, clearly we were wondering if we should "cut bait" and try elsewhere. We stayed, and with the help of other service staff, our order was taken, then waited more. :( The food once it arrived was terrific as were the drinks. But to see others around us served had us scratching our heads. We were never checked in on, offered water...more like radio silence until we reached out for attention. It doesn't even come close to possessing the charm and authenticity of the old O'Reilly's Pub. Plastic Paddy's would of been a better name. A photo of my wife and I hung over the bar for years. It probably ended up in the trash with all the other hundreds of faces that graced her walls through the years. Although they did keep the mural aft of the bar, It just doesn't feel like our stinky old home filled with slurred Irish accents anymore. It's lost it's mojo. Makes me sad. read more

Stopped in for Saturday lunch today. Since I don't care for eggs was glad to see they had fish and chips on their brunch menu. They were excellent! Lots of perfectly cooked, crisp but not greasy fish and thick fries. Yummy tartar sauce as well - savory with a hint of dill. Love this Irish pub! I frequent this place. The drinks are great- esp love the harp and fiddle and Irish coffee cold brew! All the food I have tried has been awesome: burger, Irish nachos, fish and chips, Cobb salad. The Bloody Mary bar also looks fabulous, but I haven't tried it yet. read more

The bar was clean and had a nice setup. Drinks were reasonably priced and the right strength. We went on a night when a private event was taking place but the bar looked like a blast on other nights. All in all a great place to catch a buzz. read more
