We were in San Francisco with family and looking for a bar that stayed open late on a weeknight when we came across The Lark. By the time we arrived, the kitchen had already closed, but the staff kindly let us know that we were welcome to bring in outside food. They recommended Joyride Pizza next door, which turned out to be a great option to enjoy with our drinks. Both bartenders were friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome. The music selection was also really good and added to the fun, lively atmosphere. We stayed until around 12:30 a.m., and even more people were coming in as we were leaving--it definitely seems like a popular weeknight spot! We had a great time and are glad we found The Lark. Good drinks, great bartenders, fun music, and a relaxed outside-food policy--what more could you ask for? We'll definitely return the next time we're in San Francisco! read more

We ended up at The Lark completely by chance, and honestly, it turned out to be the perfect place to spend a relaxing Sunday afternoon. We started with a couple of cocktails? Hotel Nacional and an Espresso Martini and both were expertly made. Balanced, flavorful, and exactly what we were hoping for. They set the tone for a great afternoon. Later we added an order of chicken wings and a cold lager, and everything came together perfectly. Good food, great drinks, and a laid-back atmosphere made it easy to stay longer than we originally planned. What really stood out was the overall experience. The service was friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was stylish without feeling pretentious, and the entire place had a welcoming vibe. Hung out with my team to have a few beers. We were the only customers in the house. We had a blast. Each of us chose a brew of our liking for each round. The bartender was super cool. What a fun bar! We had a great time closing out our evening at The Lark Bar, which was right across the street from our hotel. I only ordered wine, but some friends I was with ordered some tasty looking cocktails. They had a good variety of spirits and options to choose from, as well as wine and beer. The new lark, the old Lark... no matter what Lark I'm hanging out at, it's always a blast. I've only been to their previous location, which is technically in the same building, just on the other side. Their new location has a lot more space and a fresher look, but they kept that divey vibe I've come to love. They do have way more windows which I also appreciate. A fully loaded bar with local beers, tasty wines, and a damn good dirty martini. They've definitely stepped up their cocktail game, but don't expect anything too fancy. For the past decade plus except for the time they were moving locations, this has been a regular haunt or my colleagues and I during our annual visit to the city. The bar has great charm, but the heart of a local spot with a touch of dive, and we love it for all those reasons and many more. Friendly staff, great old-fashioned, solid whiskey, selection access to the great bottle shop that it shares space with during certain hours and just an all-around good time. And all those years we've had new colleagues join us and of course they feel the same way. It's a testament to the way. I'm a long time fan of Lark bar going all the way back to the Dave's days. My coworkers and I always used it as a central meeting point on work trip because it was right across from our hotel. Over the years I believe they closed down and we were bummed, but we also started staying in a different hotel across town. Then on our last trip, we ended up at one of the hotels we used to stay at and we discovered that our old watering hole was back! It was right around the corner, but still has the same divey charm. A few times a year I'm lucky enough to stay at a few different hotels in the city, but most of them are usually striking distance to The Lark Bar, an old favorite for me and my coworkers for years now. No frills. No hipster uniforms, no crazy cocktail program that will load up your glass with edible flowers and enormous ice cubes. The Lark is simply... a bar. There's sports on the TVs, there a vibe in the room, the cocktails are moderately priced, and there's something to be said about returning to the same place, year in, year out, especially when there are so many options in the area. The Lark Bar is a cool, highly dimmed bar that's great for casual socializing. Many of the guests were just coming off of work, mainly in the tech and financial district. So I think this bar is just a great place to wind down after a long day's work. The bar itself is quite small, but they do have outdoor seating. It was very windy when I went, so everyone was just packed inside. They have a handful of drink menus, including cocktails, beers, and flights, which were decently priced. The Lark Bar is a slam dunk/touchdown/home run, i.e., a good sports bar. Nice spot for a meetup or to grab a drink and watch some sports by yourself. Lots of TVs with different games on. Our group loved the Tommy's Margaritas (with tequila or mezcal) and the Paloma Slushie. French 75's and Negronis made to order satisfied our crew. Lots of beers on tap. They have wines, but not an amazing selection - for reds there's a pinot and a cab. It still has the vibe and decor of the original Lark, which was around the corner. Not a huge bar, but there's a good amount of space, with a long bar with stools from front to back on your right and bar stools along the wall on your left. No more pandemic seating outside though. The waitstaff was friendly and fine with customers bringing in food. Prices are very reasonable here, unlike the fancy spots that litter the FiDi and SOMA. They take credit cards. I give it 5-stars for being a good sports bar with value pricing. read more

Went to go give this place my money recently, but the doorman wouldn't let me in. I'd bought a bottle of whisky from the whisky shop next door, the same one they share storefront with, and the bottle was sealed and bagged. I even called it out to be transparent that I wouldn't be opening the whisky. I wound up at House of Shields instead, a real bar and longtime San Francisco institution, and they were happy to take my money. The only other time I'd been to Lark Bar at this location (their old location was on 3rd and they had taken over another longtime industry bar called Dave's) the bartender ignored me for about 10 minutes while flirting with other regular patrons. When she finally poured my drink, she mentioned how "busy" it was. It also felt like a hipster renovation project primarily catering to techies and tourists. Anyways, my overall impression is that there are plenty of other more authentic bars in the area with better service and ambiance. Don't waste your time or money here - they clearly don't value either of those things. read more

I tried this bar with a group of my coworkers on a weekday evening. We had an excellent time! The bar was able to accommodate our group of 12 people. I had two drinks: the margarita and the Paloma slushy. The Paloma slushy was DELICIOUS! Refreshing and a bit sweet and fruity. The margarita was also very good although the Paloma slushy just stood out significantly. We also ordered pizza. The bar partners with the nearby Joyride pizza restaurant. The pizza was also really good especially their sweet heat pineapple pizza and the buffalo chicken pizza. You can order your pizza at the bar at the same time that you order your drinks. This bar used to be on 3rd St and moved here recently. It is a backup bar when nearby bars close earlier than their stated hours, or earlier than expected. It feels like a dive bar but not of the beer stench and grimy variety. What liquor bottles they carry and pour are also cocktail bar quality. Seats are limited due to the crowds from surrounding locations, so hit ot miss. This area borders SOMA and Union Square, but we rarely sit down at dive bars. read more

I stopped in this dark and cozy bar because I heard they had a good selection of whiskies. We enjoyed a 10yr Whistle Pig and and Angel's Envy Rye, chased with a couple of Tecate's.
