This is one my top mexican restaurants in the area! I loved this little hole in teh wall. We came here because we were on our to drop off people at the airport in Kenner and I had read some good things about it from Ian McNulty. Anyway, it was around that in between lunch and dinner time and it wasn't too busy. It started to get busy quickly though the closert to dinner it got so be aware of that, this place is small. This place is also very loud. I noticed the speaker was right above us and the more the girls behind the bar did shots, the louder the music went. It made for a fun atmosphere so just be aware of that when you go too. We had the best, freshest guacamole. I don't know what made it so good, but it was good. I could have ordered 3 of those. The chips were just ok. The salsa was decent, but not the best. I ordered the molcajetes and those are always so delious. My hubby ordered the chimichunga which is the best in the city. It was plenty of food and so very good. I can't wait to go back!

Fried tilapia and oysters sooooo delish!!!

Was around 11pm nothing is really open at that time but we found CHILANGOS!!! What a cool place and the food was excellent .. they had karaoke which was entertaining we had margaritas ..whole tilapia ..dozen oysters .. octopus cocktail EVERYTHING WAS 100% def going back

Cucumber & jalapeño margarita it was as delicious as it looks

If you like Bloody Mary's do yourself a favor and order a Shrimp & Cucumber Michelada!! It was HEAVEN if Margaritas are your thing, ask for a cucumber jalapeño margarita it's to die for! And if you don't like the heat from the pepper ask you have the seeds taken out so you just get the flavor. So glad I stumbled upon this place!!! Y'all have to checkout this lil piece of Mexico. The service / servers are wonderful. My advice would be to go early in the evening. By the time I left the parking lot was packed. I'm already ready to go back.

Chilaquiles C/Huevo Verdes

Great food, good service and they makes you feel like you're in Mexico . Chilaquiles are my favorites

Nasty. Truly horrible service, and terrible food. The indifferent server brought out warm salsa and half a handful of chips. The diet cokes were cans (no refills). The fried tilapia came out whole, and overdone, Lying on old cold French fries. The Mexican sampler was thrown together from old food lying in the kitchen. The place was empty and we had to keep going to look for the server, including when we wanted to get our check so we could get the hell out.

Trash

Horrible service to black people. Me my mom and a friend came to chilangos for taco Tuesday and when we came in they acted like they didn't want to serve us. I asked for the $5 frozen margarita and received this watery half filled plastic cup. Then as we were eating our meal, the server came up by our table mopping. She first hit my feet with the mop and didn't say anything. Then she started sweeping the trash under our table. I asked her if she could wait until we were done and she said no and continued mopping. She was very disrespectful and had an attitude. She went and told other employees who stood there staring at us the whole time and she kept trying to argue back and forth with me . No apology, no compensation, the whole staff were rude and racist!

This is my second time going to this restaurant. I love their food. Very authentic. Everyone from work came to have lunch here. When we arrived at 12 there was only a few people in the restaurant and our food came out quick. The seafood platters and tacos are delish!!! That is their speciality. Downside is that the music is so loud you cant have conversation and might leave with a headache. But I guess the way to solve that is to order it as take-out. I might do that next time. No need to have that loud music at noon, felt like I was in a club. ;( About the delish food.... So, word of advice....don't order french fries at Mexican restaurant, not their specialty. Another observation is that most taquerias in Mexico serve warm salsa, it means its fresh. They serve cold salsa after its been in the fridge or room temperature when its been sitting out. A warm salsa means tomatoes have been boiled or roasted with chiles, onions, garlic and blended. This is not Taco Bell. In this visit I had the shrimp cocktail and it did not disappoint. I lived near Baja California for 6 years and I tasted authentic Mexican shrimp cocktails monthly. This place got it right! Thank You. The spices in the sauce, size of the shrimp and vegetables were on point. Check out the picture. Soooo good! My boss and co-workers ordered the beef and chicken fajitas. The sizzling pan, well seasoned meat, vegetables and tortillas hit the spot for them. Very flavorful and lots of it!! They couldn't finish the entire serving and took some home for dinner. As others have commented the food is amazing and authentic but the service is not great. They might need to change or retrain personnel. The furniture is also cracking and in need of repair. The furniture reminds me of seafood places in Mexico but its way to crowed for this small spot. They need to clean it up a bit. Again...The music was way to loud!!!! We couldn't have a conversation. But because the ladies were so rude I was afraid to ask them to turn it down. Ja ja ja... my charming boss started casual conversation with our waitress and she became more pleasant. Next time I am craving Mexican seafood I might order from them and just bring it home. This place can be so much better and have 5 stars from me if they apply some maintenance and customer service techniques.

A few years ago I had been to La Tia in Metairie, and it left a serious impression. What stuck with me most were the craft cocktails...creative, clever, and a little bit mischievous. I still remember one in particular: a Mexican-inspired cocktail with mezcal and beet juice that somehow managed to taste like summer decided to take a vacation south of the border. It was the kind of drink that makes you pause mid-sip and say, "Okay... whoever thought of this deserves a raise." Somehow the place drifted off my radar over time. But when the craving for Mexican food hit, it popped right back into my head. I was excited to bring my son and daughter-in-law since they had never been. Unfortunately... the reunion didn't exactly go as planned. Two things hit me immediately while looking over the menu. First: the craft cocktails were gone. Not "different." Not "updated." Just... gone. Replaced with the same drinks you see in every other Mexican restaurant. Second: the prices nearly made me spit out the water I hadn't even ordered yet. $6 for a Corona. $18 for a basic burrito with fries. $10 for a kids plate over chicken tenders and some fries. And not the old La Tia burritos either...the ones I remembered piled high with rich molé, bright verde sauces, and layers of flavor that made you wonder if you should be taking notes. Nope. Now we're talking about a plain flour tortilla with some ground meat inside, no sauce, and a side of what looked suspiciously like freezer-aisle French fries. For eighteen dollars. My daughter-in-law ordered the fajitas, and honestly... they were rough. Thin strips of overcooked meat that looked like they had taken a brief vacation in a plastic bag before hitting the grill...served on a plate. Lately I've gotten into the habit of pulling up Yelp photos to compare dishes from past years, and I did exactly that. I found a photo of the same fajitas from about three years ago...big, juicy steak pieces, sizzling on cast iron and full of life. What we got looked like it came from a completely different restaurant. To be fair, my shrimp tacos were actually pretty good. Nicely cooked shrimp, decent flavor, and probably the lone bright spot of the night. But overall, it felt like the La Tia I loved had quietly packed up and left the building. The elevated Mexican food? Gone. The rich sauces? Gone. The inventive cocktails that made the bar worth sitting at? Also gone. In their place: food that feels pulled from a bag... at prices that feel pulled from a luxury menu. It's a tough thing when a restaurant you once loved loses its spark. But sadly, this visit felt less like a reunion and more like running into an old friend who has completely changed--and not for the better. As much as I hate to say it, I don't see myself returning to La Tia anytime soon. Turns out the only thing that stayed spicy... was the price tag.

Decided to sit at the bar so I can get in and out quickly and have a little margarita. My server/bartender wasn't very attentive at all. I had to get his attention a few times for service because he was in his whole the whole time. I ordered a margarita that to me was okay, but it tasted much better after I asked to have a flavor added to it. I think it was hibiscus. I only got 2 tacos. The fish and shrimp. The fish was a little bland for my taste but the sauces and add ons saved it. This was an okay experience, I'm writing this place off. I plan to give them another shot and try some of their other menu items.

My sister moved to Louisiana two years ago and has always said it's been hard to find truly great food, so we were excited to give this place a try--and it exceeded every expectation. The woman who took our order was one of the sweetest people we've met. She was so welcoming, patient, and made us feel right at home, which made the whole experience even better. The tostones were perfection--served hot and crispy on the outside while staying soft and fluffy on the inside. The breakfast arepa was outstanding and paired perfectly with the fresh cilantro dipping sauce. Every bite was packed with flavor, and you could tell everything was made with care. The restaurant itself was spotless, bright, and inviting, creating such a comfortable atmosphere to enjoy a meal. Great food, amazing service, and a clean environment are the perfect combination. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for an unforgettable breakfast. It was hands down one of the best breakfasts I've ever had, and I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu!

I ordered a simple fried fish and a queso for an appetizer. The queso was simple and just ok. The salsas were not spiced at all and were very watery. The dish came and it was extremely greasy, I get that it's a fried dish but at least let some of the oil drip off before plating. I used several napkins to try to take off some of the excess oil. The fries were very soggy and not seasoned at all and the fish looked appetizing but when I bit into it, it had no flavor whatsoever. The texture was there and it looked like it was going to taste good but it fell extremely short in taste. On the flip side, the beans were overly seasoned. The rice was also lacking salt. I felt bad when the waitress came to ask me how everything was. I had to tell her that they completely forgot to season my food. She apologized and I said it wasn't her fault and asked for my check and told her she might want to tell the chef to not forget the salt next time. Overall the place was nice for group gatherings, although the music was a little loud, they also had several TVs playing different things. Maybe I selected the wrong dish but I have to say I won't be going here again when I want a good Mexican seafood. I'll have to check out their other dishes and hope they're much better. For now they won't be added on my places to frequent during my work trips.
