Came to chilango's with a few friends today and the service was horrible along with the weak margaritas we had. Margaritas were in these small plastic cups which tasted like just juice Then, as we was eating, the waitress was mopping by our table. But mopping the dust under our feet hitting our feet with the mop. When asked, if she could wait till we were done or left, she straight said no that it had to be done now and was very rude about it. And kinda laughed in our face about it. As she walked away, she went and told her to co-workers about it. And everybody kept looking at us laughing at us. Then we had to wait so long for the check. Because the waitress never came back. And when she said the check on our table, she told us she wasn't our server anymore and rolled her eyes and laughed. When we were ready to pay, we still had to wait even longer. Because the waitress never came back to get the check. And neither did anybody else. Chilangos is a great place to eat for an authentic and very flavorful lunch. The first time I visited, I had tacos which were so good I had to revisit. This time around I ordered the chicken chimichanga and it was divine! So much food for such a small cost! The staff is very friendly and the food just doesn't disappoint. This place has horrible service. They don't notice anyone else but their kind. We sat outside for 10 minutes without a waitress or waiter tending to us. However, the previous time we stopped by, service was long too and also there was customer sitting outside that were Spanish and they got tend to immediately. The previous time we stopped by, they gave us a used lime and didn't give us the correct order, being short one taco. I have been looking for great Mexican food and a couple of friends picked Chilango's. I was a little weary after reading some of the reviews, but I decided to give it a try. One thing I was excited about was that chips and salsa was dropped of at the table immediately. This doesn't happen at a lot of places anymore, so that is a bonus! The salsa was not my favorite... I think they gave us the gringo special salsa, because when we asked for hotter salsas they were much better! Anyhow, my husband wasn't sure what to order, given that the menu has a plethora of options, so he asked the waitress. I don't know if the waitress got the owner or the cook, perhaps both to come out, but he was really nice and gave us a lot of great suggestions. Really, this guy went above and beyond. The guacamole and margaritas were both tasty. I had the enchiladas (with red and green sauce), I preferred the green. We also had a chimichanga, a burrito and a sampler special at the tale, everything was delicious! The food was really good for the most part. The Chips and Queso was really good, I really like the tomatoes and cilantro in the queso. The bean dip was good also. Came for a Boxing PPV and for starters it was over priced to get in, drinks also were overpriced and food was mediocre, and the service was horrible. This restaurant is one of the worst dining in experiences that I've been to, pre and post pandemic. From the time we walked in to the time we left the experience was awful. Starting with the name, nothing was authentic about the experience. The music was obnoxiously loud, and terrible quality as it was played from YouTube. The servers were not consistent, and once the check came to the table we noticed the drinks were over charged and over priced. The manager on duty tried to assure that everything was accurate and showed me a menu with different prices. And her excuse was the computer system wasn't properly updated and they actually couldn't do anything about the price. I'm leaving one star because this was a terrible experience with poor customer service and I felt sick after eating there. I will not be visiting this restaurant again. read more

Ordered mixed fajitas for $14.99. They arrived at my table with 3 tortillas, beans and rice. I asked the server if sour cream or cheese came with the meal. She said that they did not. I asked for sour cream and got a small dish of it. She had also brought out a bowl Osaka's with chips . When I got my bill their wS a charge of$1.50 for the salsa. I thought that chips and salsa was complementary. The music was extremely loud for the time of day (11:30 am). The food was tasty but I will not be back. I will go to "Don Jose". I've heard so many people talk good over this place so I decided to finally give it a try . I wouldn't come back. Not the best food. I came in asking for pozole on a Sunday as it was on the weekend special and the server stated that they never have it. I then proceeded to ask for 2 gorditas . One of my favorite Mexican dishes . I was not impress at all. The Gordita was so hard I couldn't bite into it . I ended up removing all the meat and vegetables and just eating it with a fork. Then, she said because we were 5 dining in we had to leave a mandatory $10 tip. Recently they started charging a NON-GOOD ITEM on the bill and we were confused the first time they told us it was an automatic tip when 4+ quests yesterday they told us that its a service charge bc of the karaoke and stuff and were very confused on why we get charged that and apparently its because it was slow. First timers and overall it was great. The staff is really friendly and helpful. The menu had a lot of options. Something for everyone. The food was really good and we didn't have to wait long to be served. The atmosphere was also enjoyable. My 3 year old nephew even commented on how he liked the decor. So we originally wanted to eat at the Harbor a popular sea food place but we didn't want to wait an hour for a table. We came across this place and all I can say is wow! The Mexican music was so loud. Got my order wrong. Very slow. After 20 minutes they came and said no more tacos tongue I said to bring me the taco pastor instead (suppose to be 5 tacos for 8.00, but they charge 2.50 each one (12.50), because I order flour tortilla, but when I order never mentioned that. When I received the bill, noticed that they charged 2.50 twice for water. And I asked why because I order water with lemon, she told me that because the water tasted like Clorox's used bottled water, but the water was served in glasses no bottle. What amazing decor! The furniture was imported from a village in Michoacan, Mexico, known for wood carving. Even the high chair is wood carved and painted! The owners were the most friendly people ever! The food was outstanding; we had a variety from Chilaquiles to seafood dishes. Me and my friend were looking for a place to eat. we stopped in this place sat down and ordered our food. I ordered 3 tacos with shrimp my friend ordered what he thought was going to be a bowl of soup. well my tacos were tastless and my friend got what looked like a tostada with chicken on it. Evedently ther was a lauange barrier but you usually get rice and beans with your meal. He got none of that. We will never go back. It sucks. read more

We have dined at this Chilango's location several times. (There is another location in Kenner, but it has a different owner.) The food has been good at this location, but it is inconsistent. I will discuss the last visit. On our last visit the fajitas were really good. Steak and shrimp were well seasoned and well cooked. This is a good consistent dish. We ordered Queso dip and Guacamole dip with our chips. The Guacamole was fresh and flavorful. The Queso dip was bland. The rice side that comes with almost every dinner selection was yellow and also bland. On previous visits the rice came in different forms. Some had color, some didn't, but flavor always bland. We also tried two versions of burritos. One order had barbacoa beef which had a good taste and tenderness, but it was full of fat... lots of fat. The other Burrito we ordered was just a plain bean burrito. It was generous in size, grilled, and had a nice flavor. The tortillas at this restaurant are fresh and good in flavor. The tortilla chips and salsa are also house made... different from your normal Mexican offering. This restaurant is good. The ambiance and following is very Mexican. The menu is a little confusing, but has a wide selection including breakfast, lunch and dinner. The service was good, and the pricing is fair. read more
