    Honey Harissa Fries Chicken
    Stephanie M.

We visited the new Grand Prarie location a Friday Night. We got in about 5pm and the place was almost empty. We ordered the drunk bread for and app, the honey fried chicken, and an omelet with hash browns. All food came out pipping hot and fresh. The drunk bread was basically half a loaf of Avantis bread with melted cheese and balsamic vinegar on it. It was delicious but we didn't feel like it was worth the 6.99 price. The Omelet and hash-browns were nothing special and we're 9.99 wich seems a little high in price...but it is Childers so we knew prices were high going in. The honey fried chicken was easily the star of dinner. My wife who ordered the omelet ended up eating half of my meal because the portion was so big and it was delicious. For 12.99 I got a half a chicken, fried and tossed in a honey sauce. The sides were mashed potatoes and kale. It was delicious and I'd definitely order it again if we ever went back. The reason I'm only giving 3 stars is because of the overall experience. By the time we got our food the restaurant was packed. It took us 25 minutes to get our check paid after we were done eating. If you have been to Childers before you know that they have a register and the servers have tablets. We thought since our server obviously wasn't coming back that we'd try the counter. We were rudely told that our server would take our check. We told the hostess who our server was and still waited another 10 minutes after that. Would we go back for breakfast? Yes. For dinner? Probably not.

This was my first time trying out Kickabrew Coffee so I didn't know what to expect when I went inside. We had been outside for a while so I was looking forward to trying out a nice hot coffee! I got the white chocolate coffee and my husband got a hot cocoa. While we waited for our drinks we took a look around the coffee shop and I have to say, it's quite charming! I was not expecting the back room at all, not to mention all of the seating and the log cabin look that it had to offer either. It felt like the seating options were endless including couches and designer chairs. There's even an upstairs loft as well which is a great place to hang out with friends! It's so cute! A few moments later, they called out our drinks from the side window, it's located in the hallway leading to that cute log cabin looking back room. I think more places should have a side window by the way. It was nice to be able to step aside and not be in the way while other people are ordering. There were lots of people coming in and out so I think it's a popular spot in town, I don't blame them! Time to try out our drinks! They were great and we warmed right up! I would definitely go out of my way to come back and try this shop out again. I'd like a little more time to look at the menu and see what else they have to offer. I hear they have some yummy snacks so I'll have to try one of those next time! To the owner: great job on your coffee shop! It's super charming and I love it!

Review Visit: March 27th, 2018…read more Does The Spot Coffee hit the spot? The Spot Coffee started out as a mobile coffee truck, making rounds here and there, delivering caffeine to the residents of local central Illinois since 2016. Due to a growing fan base, they set up shop and opened in February 2018. On a dreary week day, my friend and I rolled in during lunch time to a fairly packed place. We were greeted promptly by a nice staff that took our orders and served up our drinks quickly. I ordered a hot Salted Caramel Latte and my friend ordered a cold Banana Bread Latte. This is the first time I've ever seen Salted Caramel offered and I must say, it was delightful. I'll need more if it in my life. My friend let me try her drink and it was also pretty good. The interior of The Spot Coffee is fairly small, so if you have a large party, plan ahead. If it is just you and a friend or two, they can accommodate you no problem. For being small, it didn't feel claustrophobic and it felt like it had a nice level of coziness to it. I give props to whoever designed the inside for doing great. They even have a spot to sit at and look out the windows while you sip a coffee on a cold and dreary day. A few other things offered here is a back room for kids. While my friend had her son with her, we didn't utilize it due to it being full. There is also a drive-thru if you are in a rush and you need that caffeine fix to go go go! They also have a small baked goods section. I didn't get anything this time but I will definitely try a cookie on my next visit. Other than that, there isn't much else to say about this lovely place. It definitely hit The Spot for me ;).
