Server tried to upsell every order feel like it came from management, husband ended up ordering way more then he could eat and table jokingly called it the "cardiac plate". Ordered the chilaquiles and biggest flavor profile was salt. Wouldn't have been so bad if my water glass had been filled. Instead I drank mine, my husbands, waited for my ice to melt, then waited for his ice to melt. Which brings us to the ignore. Once we ordered and were given food we were ignored completely. Staff wouldn't make eye contact with us. People who had come in after us had their plates removed and checks given before us. We literally had to wave our arms in the air an hour and a half after being served before our next contact. The server then asked us if we wanted one to go box for 3 different half plates of food..... what???? The only reason I can take away for this service is there was 4 of us. 2 couples and my friends are elderly and he has a walker and needs accommodation to where he can sit. We visited the new Grand Prarie location a Friday Night. We got in about 5pm and the place was almost empty. We ordered the drunk bread for and app, the honey fried chicken, and an omelet with hash browns. All food came out pipping hot and fresh. The drunk bread was basically half a loaf of Avantis bread with melted cheese and balsamic vinegar on it. It was delicious but we didn't feel like it was worth the 6.99 price. The Omelet and hash-browns were nothing special and we're 9.99 wich seems a little high in price...but it is Childers so we knew prices were high going in. The honey fried chicken was easily the star of dinner. My wife who ordered the omelet ended up eating half of my meal because the portion was so big and it was delicious. For 12.99 I got a half a chicken, fried and tossed in a honey sauce. The sides were mashed potatoes and kale. It was delicious and I'd definitely order it again if we ever went back. The reason I'm only giving 3 stars is because of the overall experience. By the time we got our food the restaurant was packed. It took us 25 minutes to get our check paid after we were done eating. If you have been to Childers before you know that they have a register and the servers have tablets. We thought since our server obviously wasn't coming back that we'd try the counter. We were rudely told that our server would take our check. We told the hostess who our server was and still waited another 10 minutes after that. Would we go back for breakfast? Yes. For dinner? Just a middle of the road 3. The food was okay. My burger was very overcooked, and not especially tasty. I asked for medium rare and it came out well-done. Fries were good. Atmosphere was nice. The hand sanitizer dispenser at the door was empty. The server was attentive until he took our order and then we didn't see him again until we tried finding someone to pay for our bill. He had forgotten to bring my soda initially and never came back to refill it. When I did get a refill, it was wrong. They weren't that busy... I don't have anything bad to say... but nothing particularly worth coming back for. I can't say I would ever choose to eat here again. read more

The hollandaise sauce was mediocre at best, and it seemed more like a reconstituted sauce than anything worth a favorable comment. This is one of my favorite breakfast/lunch places in P-town. It has a great selection of food, including healthy options and vegetarian. They open early and have fun, fresh squeezed juices such as the immune booster and the power beet. Of the three locations, this one has the most issues. Same menu and food but service is vastly worse. There seems to be plenty of staff but they are all busy doing things unrelated to the customers. My most recent visit my lunch partner and I ordered 2 of the same salad and waters. It took 20 minutes of being seated to get our order taken, 10 minutes to get the salads and then another 30 after we had our napkins piled on our salad bowls with empty water glasses to get anyone's attention. They also don't have the hand held charging technology like Junction City so it takes forever for them to leave and run your card and return with the slip. If you have a couple hours to kill for a weekday lunch, this is your spot. read more

Waffle was really good, very fluffy. Chicken was extremely dry. Coffee was a little weak and wasn't super hot, but they were SUPER busy so that might be situational. We tried Childers on a recent visit to the area for softball. Despite it being busy, our service was quick and pleasant. I enjoyed a delicious Bloody Mary while waiting for food for our table of 7. Everyone at our table thoroughly enjoyed their food. Some items we ordered: grilled cheese, cheesecake pancakes, vegetarian omelette with goat cheese, and steak street tacos. We are returning to the area in a few weeks and I will definitely visit Childers again. read more

Dec. 27, 2021 around 1:30PM. Experience was very ridiculous. The bar was full of dirty dishes. Spilled drinks everywhere and the one server, Jones, was cleaning up and doing most of the work. Other servers are just walking around like nobody's business. They kept seating people with lack of staff. Waited about 15 mins for our order to be taken and it took for the kitchen about 45 mins to bring it to us. Food was cold. Tried to give feedback to the host and other servers but we got sass and attitude back. Heard a server "Hope you come back again" with an attitude when we were already outside. How embarassing to take family from out of town here for lunch. Defintely the worst area out of the 3 locations. Will not bring my family back here again. read more

We stopped at Grande Prairie to do some shopping and decided to have lunch at Childers Grande Prairie, never again! I was seated in a reasonable amount of time and then proceeded to wait 10 minutes for anyone on the wait staff to offer to serve me a glass of water and a cup of coffee. The wait staff, managers, bus people passed my table numerous times but alas I was on the pay no mind list. As the wait staff gathered at the bar and cashier's station to chat and laugh I decided to make it a game and see how long it would take to be acknowledged. Finally a waitress came up to ask what I would like to drink, water and coffee, no surprise. Drinks were brought and order's were placed, nothing special, eggs, hash browns and a Waffle. 35 minutes later we received our food on scalding hot plates with lukewarm food. Management sucks! I really love the other two Childer's locations at Junction City and University and was excited to have a location so close to home and took the family this morning. The coffee was horrendously weak, but we didnt get a chance to complain because the waitress ghosted us for 25 minutes after we got our coffee and placed our order. So, the food comes, everyone got their meal except me. One other person is missing an english muffin. We complain again, an someone from the back comes and brings a muffin, by hand and gives it. There was a huff and a puff and I was surprised she didn't just throw it on my mother's plate and tell her "here is your damn muffin." On a plate, without attitude, would have been nice. My burger comes overcooked, late. I'm disappointed, but they make me another which I have to eat while everyone else watches me. The manager came out and also gave us an attitude and discounted the coffee and muffin [which we never actually got because they took back the one that was tossed on the plate.] Horrible experience.
