They have several kinds of sweetener to choose from so people can sweeten to taste. Good cookies. Ground coffee is pricey, but good. We get the pecan sticky bun or cinnamon coffee cake. They have lots of different syrups, and a really good selection of sugar free syrups. They have oat and almond milk. No soy milk, which is surprising. I wish they offered soy milk. The only issues I have is that they close the lower level an hour before they close the shop. Something I didn't know until the employee started vacuuming around us and told us to move. They also had locked the side door, meaning we had to walk up the stairs, even though one of us is disabled and walks with a cane. That's why we entered from the lower level door. The lack of empathy was pretty shocking. If you're open until 5, you should be open until 5 on both levels. Pretty disappointed.

They failed to greet me, not even a "Good morning" as the rest of the entire country does reflexively when they see another person. The two continued talking to each other as if I didn't exist. Clerk 2, annoyed: "No. You can't place the order today. You can only place it tomorrow." (NOTE: Their website restriction only says: "This offer is only available to first-time guests." This says nothing about having to place the order for another day. So they lied.) Me, skeptical and slightly annoyed: "Okay... Hmm... do I want a bacon maple donut... How much is it?" Clerk 1: "$3.50." Me, pondering for a moment: "No, I'll pass. I got plenty of donuts." Then we proceeded to complete the transaction to avoid any further conversation with them, and I left with a sour taste in my mouth from that interaction. This is not the way to treat any customer, especially a first-time customer! My average donut shop experience is that I'm met by a clerk with a sunny attitude and a desire to help customers (whether genuine or to get tips). These two old bats really need a stern talking-to by management or, if they're the owners, this bakery does not deserve anyone's business. ==== FOOD: Overrated, mid-quality donuts. If you go to buy a novelty product claiming to be made of potatoes, you would at least expect it to have a trace of potato flavor. If I were to give it a generous review, I would say it tastes like an average donut. Granted, the donuts are huge, but so is their price. Since I'm not here to sugarcoat this bakery, these donuts are extremely sweet, to the point that they overpower everything else. If I wanted to taste sugar, I'd eat a heaping mouthful of sugar! You can't taste anything else of the donut, not even the oil it's cooked in, and that's saying something! These donuts also grow stale very fast. The Spot Coffee started out as a mobile coffee truck, making rounds here and there, delivering caffeine to the residents of local central Illinois since 2016. Due to a growing fan base, they set up shop and opened in February 2018. On a dreary week day, my friend and I rolled in during lunch time to a fairly packed place. We were greeted promptly by a nice staff that took our orders and served up our drinks quickly. I ordered a hot Salted Caramel Latte and my friend ordered a cold Banana Bread Latte. This is the first time I've ever seen Salted Caramel offered and I must say, it was delightful. I'll need more if it in my life. My friend let me try her drink and it was also pretty good. The interior of The Spot Coffee is fairly small, so if you have a large party, plan ahead. If it is just you and a friend or two, they can accommodate you no problem. For being small, it didn't feel claustrophobic and it felt like it had a nice level of coziness to it. I give props to whoever designed the inside for doing great. They even have a spot to sit at and look out the windows while you sip a coffee on a cold and dreary day. A few other things offered here is a back room for kids. While my friend had her son with her, we didn't utilize it due to it being full. There is also a drive-thru if you are in a rush and you need that caffeine fix to go go go! They also have a small baked goods section. I didn't get anything this time but I will definitely try a cookie on my next visit. Other than that, there isn't much else to say about this lovely place. The most upscale coffeehouse you'll ever visit…read more My dad needed a ride to an eye appointment and I asked if he minded we dropped by this coffeehouse on the way back. He said he was totally down for that. So, we stopped in around 9am to one of the fanciest coffeehouses around. This is one of the first coffeehouses my dad has ever been to and he was also blown away by how fancy and how nice everything was here. He declined to get a coffee but I got my usual iced americano. The barista taking my order was beyond friendly and super communicative on everything. I appreciated that since the pick up counter is at the far left side of the counter and you order on the far right. While we were waiting for my coffee, we took a long look at the delicious-looking baked goods in the display case. We didn't get any since I am focusing on what I eat lately and my dad was a bit too shy to order anything. We took a seat and chilled for about 10 minutes since I still had to report to work that afternoon. When I was given my americano, it was on the lighter side of brown, so I knew it was going to be a smoother one and I prefer the darker, more bitter ones. But, it wasn't too bad. It started off smooth and then turned into something I wasn't a huge fan of as I got towards the bottom. Even so, the overall experience was great since my dad and I got to hang out and neither of our schedules really allow for that all too much. I would most definitely check out Matari, not just for a nice ethnic take on coffee but for a real fancy take on a coffeehouse. I did spy a basket of card games at the register, so they have some fun activities you can partake in while feeling like royalty.
