From their annual events (Opening Night and Arts Festival) to longer-term programs (such as Art Moves and the Twilight Concert Series), there is always something fun going on. I've been volunteering with ACOKC for about three years now, and they take the best care of their volunteers. They do a great job dividing up tasks among the staff, and their event structure ensures that everyone knows what is happening - impressive when there are 5,000 people to organize. They always show their appreciation, and will assign you to tasks that use your skill set. I highly recommend ACOKC - whether it's to attend their activities or to get involved by volunteering.

There's A lot of really great art ranging from painting to photography to pottery, jewelry and then some. The artist have to apply for a contract and if they are excepted then you will see them at the show for the next three years so if you find an artisan that you really like and one year they are no longer at the show then they didn't make the cut for that rotation. Much of the art is out of the price range for ordinary people but you can find prince of that art very affordably if you find something that you love. There are a lot of food booze and some have some very unique items. They're usually pretty costly so that can't be expensive if you have a larger family to feed. The great thing is you can pack your own lunch and drinks if that's what you choose to do and save some money that way. You are also welcome to bring your dogs from what I can tell. Although admission to the festival is free I wish the parking wasn't so expensive!

The art was of an adult nature and was done in a super tasteful way that brought in people that would normally shy away. I found a few I would have loved to have hanging in our home! Kudos to the folks at IAO for lending gallery space to the community in the cold months. Plenty of kids were playing with Legos and blocks and big empty tubes (IT'S A LIGHTSABER!) and strolling though the turf. We saw bowlers and fishermen and women, a sand table, and a koosh soccer ball. If my kids were younger, we'd be enjoying this free open playroom as long as it's installed!

It's not really a church and it doesn't matter what your beliefs are so long as you are a spiritual seeker. They meet every Sunday at 10:00 am upstairs in the old Library. All ages are welcome but there are currently no services for children. The service starts with a facilitator stating the group's vision followed by a song from the band, a meet and greet, a short guided meditation and then a speaker who talks on a specific subject of their choice for about 25 minutes. You can take what you like and leave the rest. The community is tight knit and there are lots of opportunities to be of service and get to know others throughout the weeks/months.
