My daughter's "rash" was initially misdiagnosed as baby acne by Dr. Katherine, but at a follow up visit she was diagnosed with atopic dermatitis (eczema) and seborrheic dermatitis by Dr. Arlata. After starting the eczema treatment plan, her skin improved rapidly. I wish eczema had been considered earlier, Dr. Katherine did not ask about my skin history like Dr. Arlata did and was very dismissive to the symptoms that I was sharing with her. Earlier treatment may have prevented the flare from becoming so severe that I needed a steroid cream to calm down the inflammation to avoid infection. Consider parent condition/history and all other conditions instead of dismissing parent concerns and just diagnosing what's common. Every baby is different. read more

They changed my appointment time without telling me then wouldn't take me because I arrived at the time of my originally scheduled appointment (which was a little later). I showed them my texts with the appointment time and they kept saying that their system showed a different time. They did say they would try to squeeze me between patients but that the wait could be 2.5 hours, so I left feeling wronged. read more

Dr Mangine goes FAR above and beyond for her patients. She is an exceptional doctor, very thorough, understanding, kind, educated, non-judgmental, listens with the intention to hear every detail and solve the problems your child is having, remembers the patient's history and who that child actually is, and has incredible advice for new moms. Her temperament always puts me at ease which is very important. I literally trust this doctor with my child's life, and that says a lot about who she is as a doctor and also a human being. Thank you Dr Mangine! I have also been to multiple different locations for last-minute appointments when my baby is sick and needs to get in immediately. I have never had a bad experience or seen a doctor or PA that hasn't been exceptional. I have been very pleased with CPCMG as a whole, and I'm not a very easy to please type of person so my review is very genuine. If you are looking for great care with great bedside manner and thorough doctors, this is a great pediatrician office for you to go to. read more

I called the office in Santee and the phone wait was about 7 minutes, the woman who answered was Nancy and she was very short with me I didn't feel like she wanted to help. I only get school required vaccines for my child. She mentioned my kid was overdue for 2 vaccines so I asked if they were school required and she snapped in an annoyed tone "I don't know I just know what's overdue". After making the appointment for a vaccine she didn't ask me what location and I didn't confirm because I thought I was calling the Santee office. At the end of it she confirmed the time and location that's far away from me and before I could say anything she hung up on me. It's frustrating to feel like a burden when I don't believe I'm being difficult just trying to set up the appointment a couple months ahead of time so I have more availability to choose from and plan. Nancy works at Euclid location. If you read this, please take your time and provide better service than you provided me. If you don't know something then inform yourself. read more

I never write reviews but as a first time mom I'd like to warn other parents about my experience with Dr. Mangine. I first brought my newborn daughter to Dr.Mangine. After doing lots of research she had great reviews so I was sure I would have great things to say about her. (My daughter was coming from Dr. Allison Zackery from Scripps Hillcrest, a completely amazing pediatrician, but I needed to find something closer to home.) I took my newborn daughter in to be seen for bright red rashes and bumps that were obviously painful for her. She'd constantly cry in pain and discomfort and I had no idea what it was. Dr.Mangine clearly wasn't fazed and completely down played my daughters condition. After diagnosing her with eczema she gave me a couple tips but was obvious she wanted to leave the room and was uninterested. As a first time mom I obviously had a lot of questions about my daughter's condition. This is when Dr.Mangine got quit rude. It was apparent she didn't care. I understand she's a doctor and probably sees a ton of kids with eczema but she lacked patience and empathy. Dr. Mangine did NOT prescribe anything to my daughter. She told me to change my detergent and use hypoallergenic products with an attitude...THE FOLLOWING DAY my daughter had to be hospitalized. She had open wounds on her neck and was bleeding from the same exact rash and bumps Dr. Mangine had seen the DAY BEFORE. The ER doctor specifically asked me who had diagnosed my daughter with eczema and what she prescribed her. When I told the ER doctor that Dr. Mangine had done nothing for my daughter she then said "she completely down played your child's condition" and that she was shocked because she was familiar with Dr.Mangine and said was usually "good". NEVER again will I bring my child to Dr. Mangine. It was traumatizing having to take my newborn to the ER for something that was EASILY preventable. Had she prescribed my daughter the oils and creams that were given to her at the hospital this would have never happened. My daughter's eczema wouldn't have progressed to the point it got to but because it wasn't Dr.Mangines own children, she didn't care to prescribe or do anything to prevent or treat my baby's condition. Throughout my visit I was nothing but respectful to Dr. Mangine but I left completely upset and frustrated. I bit my tongue through her attitude and little comments that were condescending. I then made an appointment with Dr.Arlata and she is so wholesome and kind. Had it not been for Dr. Arlata this review would've been 1 star. Dr. Arlata thoroughly explained my daughter's condition and gave great advice that was extremely helpful. She had great patience and paid a lot of attention to my daughter's rashes. Unlike Dr. Mangine that laid maybe one finger on my daughter and immediately said it was eczema. Eczema can get quit complicated and difficult to navigate. PLEASE READ for your child's safety!! It is with a heavy heart that I have to write this review because I truly do love Dr.Mangine she has been great to my kids. However, I had an extremely traumatic experience at this office with Nurse Practitioner Riley Walker. I would HIGHLY advise no parent have a visit with this provider ESPECIALLY if the reason for your visit pertains to your child's safety whatsoever. Back story, I am a mom of 3. My two year old is autistic. She has had major sleep issues her entire life. Not only is her lack of sleep extremely draining on my motherhood journey but she has recently escaped from every sleep situation we have put her in. She lacks impulse control and understanding of danger that "normal" kids have. It is extremely scary and we have tried many things to resolve this issue and make our environment safe. Unfortunately anything can be dangerous to a sleepy wandering 2 year old who lacks the understanding of her surroundings. I have found myself extremely paranoid and sleeping with one ear open at all times. She is in a new tent again (always ripping them), has an alarm on her door, video monitor, and room is completely baby proofed. My daughter's therapist recommended the cubby bed for sleep. It is covered by medi-cal for autistic kids and is a very safe and comfortable option that would have solved all of our problems. The process requires a letter of medical necessity which her therapist wrote, and then a doctors appointment with a prescription for the bed. Immediately upon opening the door, Riley Walker was extremely rude and judgmental. She made it clear that she would absolutely not help me by filling out the paperwork needed for the bed. She accused me of not watching my daughter, made comments about how I was on medi-cal "trying to obtain free things" I was so over tired and stressed out, completely baffled that she was treating me this way. I started crying and trying to express to her in every way I could that I was simply advocating for my daughter to have the best option possible for safe sleep. I told her "you have no idea how scary it is to fall asleep every single night wondering .. "am I going to wake up and find my daughter on the ceiling fan, having jumped head first off the couch or climbed to the top cabinet and got knives from the kitchen" (sarcastically obviously). Immediately she said "your daughter has access to knives?!" Immediately I replied OF COURSE NOT, I am just expressing to you my level of concern. As she OBVIOUSLY cannot climb to the ceiling fan either. She continued being extremely rude as a crying mother sat in front of her begging for help. She flat out would not do it. I left the visit crying and very upset only to find later that her notes from the visit were filled with lies!! 1) she wrote vital signs that she NEVER took. 2) she wrote that I never followed up with neurology after my daughter was hurt from a fall at 6 months old. (She has had multiple follow up visits) 3) she wrote that my daughter is not currently escaping her sleep situation when I very clearly told her she escaped from everything we have tried. (Disqualifying me from future chances at obtaining the bed out of pure pettiness) 4) she wrote that my daughter has access to knives when I very quickly and very clearly cleared that up and told her that she absolutely cannot access knives that I was simply making my fear of danger aware. I called the office and spoke with the supervisor. The nurse practitioner is refusing to edit the lies out of my daughter's chart. Life with an autistic child can be stressful enough, always always trying to make sure she doesn't get hurt and watch her 24/7. Anything can happen and I fear that in the future if there is ever an incident, her chart will follow her claiming she has access to knives and is not being watched properly. I am SICK to my stomach over this and the office is doing nothing to change it. In order to have the note investigated I have to pay per hour. It is unfair and I cannot believe they are all allowing this to happen. She works at multiple locations and this review will be copied to each location to warn parents, be careful what you say if you're ever forced to have a visit with this provider, I wish I never asked for help. All I want is the simple solution of taking these crazy lies out of my daughter's chart and I will be on my way. Unfortunately it is not looking like anyone is willing to help me take the easy route. In my opinion, fudging vital signs that you never took is enough to get the attention of the medical board. This practice needs to be investigated, if I experienced this... Called this office and have been waiting to speak to someone for 30 minutes. Called again and same experience. I understand an office can get busy but this is anytime you call this office. I can never reach anyone and have to wait until I go in the office. Had an awful experience with Tawnya Macchiarella NP. We usually see Dr Mangine but had to see the NP for my daughters next visit and it was the worst experience. It was like she didn't even look at my daughters chart to know what was going on with her. Her recommendation for my daughter was ridiculous but luckily I was able to reach out to Dr Mangine who was able to let us know to ignore the recommendation from the NP. I will never take another appointment with the NP again. read more

Dr Mangine and her office crew are absolutely amazing. Both our daughters go to her. Our youngest, who is now 6 1/2 months, has a rare disease and was very sick just after birth. Dr Mangines quick actions and knowledge of this disease I truly believe saved our daughters life. She got the treatment she needed and she's now thriving better then we expected. We are sad to leave, we are moving out of state. Thank you so much for the care you have given our girls and for taking the time to answer all our questions. My daughter has been seeing Dr. Mangine for the past 2 years. We previously were seen at a different CPCMG office when we moved to San Diego but when my daughter was sick on a weekend we saw Dr. Mangine as she was covering the Alvarado office. My daughter loved her so much that after she finished examining her she wanted her to do it all over again. That's when I asked what office she was at full time. She informed us that she was moving to their newest location in Santee, that was great news as we live in santee and it was right around the corner. I just recently had a baby boy and he also now sees Dr. Mangine. We are always able to get in last minute to be seen and the office is always clean and the staff and nurses friendly. Dr. Mangine never makes me feel rushed and always takes the time to ease my fears and answer my questions. We are lucky to have found her! read more

Glad Dr Mangine moved to Santee! I have been going to her office on and off since my oldest who is now 6 was born when she was in El Cajon. Now that she is in Santee I now take both my children to her exclusively now. I did not like the original location. I love Dr Mangine she is wonderful. I feel like she listens to all my concerns along with her nurses and staff as well. She sent me to get extra texting for my son and she personally called me with the results; no doctor has ever called me for results before . Amazing experience! The nurses, the doctor (Dr. Fink--so sweet!), and everyone else was so great. Tagged along with my sister and nephew as support since he gets shy and scared, but the second we walked in he loved it there, way more than the previous pediatrics he used to go to. I changed pediatricians from the Alvarado location to here and I regret that decision. I couldn't make it to my daughters checkup due to the fact that I was working and could not leave so my husband went instead. When he brought our daughter, one of the nurses/doctor asked "where is mom" and made unnecessary comments about how they would not let their husbands take their kids to the doctor visits alone and making it seem like I was a bad mom for letting him take our daughter by himself. Which made my husband not want to take her anymore since they made him feel very UNCOMFORTABLE. This was around the time the pandemic was really hitting families and I was the only one working providing for my family. I believe what they said to him was very unprofessional, and comments like that should have been kept to themselves. read more

Normally, I would have said I had a great experience with this office. The care for my child was solid and I believed the doctor genuinely seemed to care about our well-being. However, after our four-month visit, I received a bill for the "Caregiver Health Risk Assessment Score Doctor Standard Instrument". Basically, at some point in the appointment, the doctor asked me if I was depressed and then billed ME for it. I called my insurance. The rep told me she was seeing this trend more recently. It is very rarely covered and offices know this. She called the office to have it reviewed. I followed up with Children's and they are still charging me because the office confirmed they had "treated me" AKA verbally asked me if I was suffering from PPD. I do not remember giving my consent to be treated (or billed), that's why I go to MY doctor. While the care for my child was good, I'm changing pediatricians before I get more bills. Pandemic parenthood is challenging enough without practices like this. read more
