Giving this clinic 3/5 because the staff is super friendly and we love our pediatrician. However I can't help but be frustrated that there's a lack of follow up when we aren't at the clinic My baby needed 2 ultrasound done and when we called to schedule with Radys they only allowed us to have 1 ultrasound done because the second could not be done due to the diagnosis. Apparently the diagnosis wasn't sufficient enough so the Santee clinic had to clarify. Despite our constant follow up nothing was sent from the clinic to radys. We went in and got 1 ultrasound done. Only a day or two after we were approved for the second. We received our bill and we have to pay $750 for the ultrasound and now we have to go back for the 2nd and pay another $750 bill. If we just had gone there and done both scans in 1 visit we could have avoided this. Because of the Lack of follow up from the clinic we have to pay even more out of pocket and more time spent when it should have not happened. I hope scripps understands there are families that don't have the luxury to waste money read more

I have blood work done at Scripps Clinic by Wendy alone. Finding a vein on me is like looking for gold. She's the only one in the WHOLE COUNTY that's able to find it on the first try. Signing in and Care is top notch. Because everyone knows I won't go to anyone else there, they ask to watch, ask questions, and Wendy's happy to let them know how she finds the vein. Awful. If you are a female and have any hormone issues prepare to be dismissed and told to lose weight and go on SSRIs. This is the standard crap care from doctors who took one class on menopause many years ago in medical school. I thought seeing a female doctor might help me be actually listened to and it was the same spiel that old doctors spout. This place has excellent doctors like Dr Govender. Overall, we highly recommend Doctor Govender for pediatrics. She was calm, kind, thorough, encouraging, and very professional. However, the facility is TERRIBLE. This clinic is in a shopping center with sketchers, ross, buffalo wild wings, and other businesses. Parking is terrible during peak hours and the parking spaces are small enough to make opening a door to get a car seat out nothing short of Las Vegas style magic. When you walk in, the waiting room is tiny. They have sick and healthy people wait in a small room with maybe a dozen chairs. We've come here for two pediatrics appointments and both times several people have walked in and said they and/or family has had flu-like symptoms. They were checked in and waited in the same small waiting room with us and a one week old infant. During today's visit, there was work being done on the ceiling of the building. it felt and sounded as if someone was using a jackhammer and trying to cave the ceiling in. It was incredibly loud and vibrated the walls in the clinic. We felt as if we had to raise our voices to even be heard by the doctor. We really don't recommend this facility at all, especially if you're trying to stay healthy. You will be sitting in close proximity to sick patients while waiting. read more

I can't believe I'm writing this, especially about medical professionals, but I want to let those "in charge" know the inappropriate comments I overheard while at the clinic. On 07 Aug, I overheard the nurse (or is she a doc ?) Kendall state to a group of fellow coworkers about another coworker " ..... will never be a grandma because her son still lives at home with her". I could not believe I heard such an insensitive comment from this person who also happens to be very pregnant As a husband whose wife does require extra fertility treatments I feel this is incredibly unprofessional. Truly the worst. My "doctor" here did absolutely nothing ever to help my situation and my illnesses. One time I was doing a video visit with him and saw him puffing on a vape before he realized I was on the zoom. How could I ever take medical advice from someone who willingly harms with body with vapes these people never helped me. To this day I can truly say reading books and learning myself has given me more relief with my illnesses than anything they ever did for me. Absolute waste of money to pay co-pays here! I was greeted by Ruben and he answered a lot a my questions, was very helpful and went out of his way to get me some information I inquired about. I was there to get blood drawn and was greeted by Monica(?), she was very nice and went out of her way to make it very comfortable for me and even answered extra questions I had. This clinic is THE WORST. It sucks because I already paid their HUGE fee to "meet my primary physician" and now I NEVER plan to come back here again. UNHELPFUL. UNORGANIZED. NO RESPONSE. THEY DONT CARE ABOUT PATIENTS. I took some tests and my ins said they weren't medically necessary so I had to have the clinic send clinical notes to my payer. I called four times in six months. The first two time the office said they'll make a note so my dr knows. It wasn't until my third call to follow up, where someone finally told me they can't send anything without my consent. Why didn't I learn that the first couple calls. When I finally came in to sign consent I called the clinic and Rocio said "there's no record of it. Who helped you when you came in?" So they sent me to the medical records release of information dept and they said they don't have it. (I signed it over a week ago) but the clinic never sent it. I would think sending clinical notes to a patients insurance would be an easy task but theyve made it impossible. I should not have to call 4 days in a row to make sure my doctor is doing what takes probably less than 5 minutes of his day (fill out a piece of paper & fax it back to my insurance). I understand I'm not his only patient, but maybe this name brand clinic should hire more doctors if they are overbooked & overworked. I also should not have to get snippy with the receptionists for them to do their jobs efficiently. I understand they deal with people all day, but maybe this is wrong profession for them if they can't handle it? I've been seeing Dr. Hawkins for the last decade. He's the reason I keep coming back. I genuinely get a feeling that he cares and wants to see his patients get well. The Scripps app messaging works very well when I have a question and his staff is very responsive. This location also gets my labs completed the fastest and I have never had to wait long to be seen for my appointment. I have a Scripps clinic literally right down the street from my home but I prefer the 20 minute drive to this office. read more

I have been coming to this clinic for about 5 months my primary doctor is very professional and attentive the ladies in the front are really nice not a single complaint even the nurses who draw my blood are very professional. The only thing is if I have to see my rheumatologist doctor I have to drive somewhere else, but I'm ok with that. read more

I was very appreciative of the punctuality and care this clinic provided for my physical exam. After arriving early to fill out my first-visit forms, I was still 5 minutes early to my appointment. I expected to wait until it was my appointment time to be seen, if not later, but to my surprise, they took me in right away to take the biometrics. Stephanie was professional and friendly in guiding me through the steps. She went through the medical history questions quickly but thoroughly. She also helped me confirm that my last physical was done more than one year ago so that I wouldn't be charged for this one. Dr. Christopher Nerantzinis was also very professional and friendly, providing me with a lot of information about each exam. I felt that he cared a lot more about patient education than other doctors I've seen in the past. read more

My daughter is asthmatic and is having problems. I called early this morning and was able to make an appointment at 4pm this afternoon. I made arrangements to take off of work and had piece of mind that she would be seen by a Dr. An hour later they called and cancelled the appointment and said the next available appointment was the next day at 11am. Then told me I could go to Rancho San Diego and transferred me to the operator there. I had no idea where I needed to be transferred and was transferred to pediatrics only to be told they do not see just any patients there and should have talked to my primary care at Santee. I don't know how I feel about this location. We are a Scripps family, and I came here just to get labs done. When I went to the room where we get blood done - an open room, there was just a nurse hanging around RIGHT next to me watching YouTube Videos, right in the open no privacy or anything. I thought it was SO unprofessional to be sitting there watching videos with a patient. At least go to the break room or reserve it for when patients aren't there. I was considering seeing a primary physician here but nope I'll only be going to Scripps Carmel Valley. They are AMAZING there. This is predominantly for Dr. Leek. She is so caring and thorough, she feels like a true partner in your child's health. She never diminishes fears or parent perceptions - just takes all of what you tell her and really pays attention. Our family feels better knowing she's there when and if we need her and that she'll always look out for our child's best interests! This is Covid times so I should address that for this office as well. They have a security guard who confirms you don't have symptoms before you check in. The check in was fast. I do wish waiting outside to have the nurse call you in was an option. Although they have everything marked 6 feet apart, it's a small waiting room. I visited Scripps Clinic Santee yesterday and it felt like I was in a Third World country. I was here for a blood test that was a retest because they messed up the first one. I made an appointment online with my Scripps Portal and received a confirmation call from Scripps. But upon arriving on time I was told by the receptionist that they couldn't honor that time because there were too many walk-ins. She said that perhaps I should come back on another day. I have Medicare and Cigna PPO. What has happened to Scripps? I will never visit this clinic again. read more

Insurance had to called them directly but I was already out of the area, They wouldn't even call the insurance to speak to them. My children have been seeing pediatrician here for years. All Of a sudden after 3 years of service I started to receive bills for preventive care. I called the office. "Did you bill my insurance? Why didn't they cover any of it?" Idk lady tells me call your insurance. I call my insurance. "No clue, I'll send it though again. You should be covered" I stupidly trust the office and take my kids there 2 more times each. Same story each time. Finally after 4 more visits and seeing different staff each time, asking the same question. Being told it will be covered. Don't worry, I call my insurance for the 6th time. "Oh that office no longer accepts your insurance plan. Your pretty much a cash patient being charged full fee, they should have told you that on your first visit!!!!! I work in a healthcare office. When a patient comes in first thing we do is check to make sure we accept their insurance. That the won't have a outstanding bill. But I cannot make a schedule for one month and then I have to make another appointment with specialist two weeks later. This clinic just waste your time never care about how much you suffer as a patient. Don't waste your money and time here. They just want get your money and do nothing for you. The front staff at this location are absolutely horrible. I have taken my baby there a few times and 90% of the time I have a problem with them getting my baby checked in and allowed to see the doctor. This last time, and it is the last time I will go in there, I took my 20 month old for an 8am appointment. My little one was having problems getting up in the morning and getting dressed, which babies can do, I got to the location at 8:05 and there were 2 people ahead of me, which took some time to get checked in, which I understand, however then when I got to check my little one in the lady at the front desk said "You are 15 minutes late we will have to reschedule". I get by the time I got to the front desk to be checked in I was late, but I have a child and anyone that has a child knows someone times you are not going to be right on time all the time as it can be hard to get a little one ready and I was only 15 minutes late. If you are going to run a pediatric care location Dr O'Leary should have a 100% time variance for her clients. After I left my wife called into the front desk to see why they didn't take our child and they then stated to my wife "There was only 1 person ahead of your husband and we tried to ask Dr O'Leary if she could still take the appointment". This never happen so they lied to my wife. What kind of business does that and then lies to their clients because they know they did wrong. Horrible customer service when attempting to make an appointment for my sick toddler. Susan lacks empathy when it comes to LISTENING to a mother who is seeking care for her ill child. She then went on to tell me that "There are no Drs here" regarding the Rancho San Diego location. There are no Drs available at a pediatrics clinic? That doesn't make any sense to me. Why are we paying a premium for health care if when we need to seek care, there are no providers or appointments available? God forbid Susan's child or grandchild get sick...she'd probably squeeze them right on into that unavailable schedule. Anytime I have attempted to make a sick visit for my son in Santee, I'm told there are "No appts available". They then FORCE you to leave a message with nurse triage. Then you'll wait another 20-60 mins to hear from a nurse who will then tell you "It sounds like your child needs to be seen today", and then tell you to go sit at the ER or Urgent Care for HOURS. Is this a joke??? Is this how health care really works in the State of California?? I'm sorry, but when did Emergency Care and Urgent Care become PRIMARY CARE? Do doctors no longer see sick children unless they go to Urgent Care or the ER? Is every illness COVID? I need to take my toddler to the ER to get a strep test performed? COME ON! Also, it's now 2:18pm and I left a message with Dr. Leek at 7:41am that is still not returned. As a Healthcare provider myself, this is unacceptable. This is beyond backwards. I have to give high marks for Dr. Christopher Nerantzinis who took exceptional care of my elderly mom. After we were 20-minutes late for our appointment, he still agreed to see us, thinking our tardiness was beyond our control (it was). He was patient, kind, very knowledgeable about dementia even though he specializes in family medicine. My dad has a tendency to go on and on, but he answered all of his questions and made the referrals we requested. Ill be switching to Sharp. Went in with a sinus infection and they charged me a $30 co-pay for a piece of paper with recommendations to go buy Tylenol at CVS. After explaining that I couldnt breathe through my nose at night and that this resulted in throat chafing pain and waking up every 2 hours from coughing, the P/A suggested cough drops from CVS. Not making this up, Ill be switching to Sharp and if they are just as bad, then Ill give UCSD a try. Not to mention they would never update their records, every single visit I had to explain that I had quit smoking years prior. My spouse and I have been going to the Scripps Clinic in Santee for over 20 years now and would highly recommend it. We love the doctors and staff! We have never had an issue when needing a referral. This clinic is really getting worst!!! I'm just trying to call to get a prescription refill and was on hold for 30 minutes then got disconnected without talking to anyone. Then called back and still no answers for another 20 min. So I tried for a 3rd time and still freaking nothing!!! Do I called the main Scripps health line and ask if they're open, she checked and said yes they're open but just really busy. Really!?!? Not only does the clinic offer a wide range of hours so I didn't have to take time off work, but the doctor, nurses, and receptionist were also all friendly and personable! I went for my preventative care annual and it was a smooth, seamless process and I'm glad to have Dr. Chang in my corner as my primary care doctor! read more

This office is AMAZING! Every single interaction has been top notch. We have Tricare and have been treated horribly for years at their clinics. I could go on and on. We recently had a baby and there was no room for him at our usual clinic, Tricare let me pick my doctor. I consulted some mommy friends and Facebook groups, the verdict was unanimous; Scripps Santee! The gentleman who answered when I made the initial appointment was kind, personable and professional. The ladies at the front desk greeted us happily, spoke to the children, treated me wonderfully. It was like day and night! I saw the Nurse Practitioner (Britany Bogart) for my newborns first visit. My little one had some health issues after birth and she genuinely listened to me. She spent a decent amount of time hearing my concerns, addressing them and legitimately caring about my child. She gave me samples of cream for the baby's eczema, samples of probiotics for his reflux and even rocked him to sleep! I literally left in tears because it was the first time I truly left a doctors appointment feeling respected, they treated me with professionalism and kindness. Everyone actually likes kids in that office which was also refreshing. I immediately called Tricare and had them switch all 3 kids and myself to this clinic. We just went back this week for a weight check on my little guy. We saw Dr. Leek, who will be my kids new primary. She was just as wonderful as everyone said she was. She treated me like a human being, she was open and receptive and kind. She put me at ease and made me feel comfortable. I'm so glad we found this office, I just wish we had found it sooner! read more

I see dr Hawkins here at the clinic. I think he is very nice and a great dr. His nurse is very sweet. I liked her a lot too I can usually be seen within 2 days and the nurse calls me about 5 minutes after I sit down. I am never waiting long at all. And when I need to call ask the dr a question he is the one to call me back and answer my questions and he always calls after I've come in to see if I'm feeling better. Glad I found dr Hawkins. Honestly I cannot say enough good about the Scripps medical care. I literally would not be here if it wasn't for the Amazing Staff. A year ago they gave me two months to live. I was only going to have my ending made more comfortable by drugs. Dr. Wallick (head of chemotherapy at the ximex building) and Dr. Lynn (Head of radiology at MD Anderson) Literally talked me into letting them save me. So I had chemo and radiation and I feel better than I had felt in years. And thanks to everyone at Scripps I will be her to see my youngest sons baby be born on November 10 and my daughters baby is due on New Year's Eve. And my middle sons beautiful daughter and son will have their grandma. There is not enough good I could say like I said. These people have wings and halos. They are truly heroes. My husband couldn't be happier that I'll be here for him. I really hope that the people at Scripps or I should say angels at Scripps get a break. Please people they are amazing treat them like you would your favorite people they deserve it! read more

Been going here for 5 years. In the past year this place has completely declined on patient service. My kids never see the same doctor because schedules are full and now this year I took my daughter in 3 times for her routine immunization shots, and now 8 months later after battling with my insurance and the clinic my insurance says I'm out of network. Scrips never told me that. They should have told me at the very first appointment. They are trying to charge me $3,000 for this. Insane. I don't normally do this whole Yelp thing but I feel like good credit is due when needed. Lately I have been experiencing some life changing health issues, in and out of the doctors multiple times a week, even in the ER and my body is tired of being poked and prodded. Yesterday I had a video visit with one of the doctors here and one of the nurses prior to the visit, Stephanie, called for the prescreening. She was so professional and understanding with everything that was going on. She even called shortly after to left me know that the doctor was running a bit behind (no worries, times are hard right now). Not long after my video visit, I was told to come in to run some more tests and labs. The phlebotomist who drew my blood was the same nurse who did it last time and she was so gentle and kind (love her!) but I don't recall her name. Stephanie (the nurse) placed me in an exam room and instantly started taking my vitals and dong my work up, she was SO PATIENT with me. She went above and beyond with her empathy and patient care. She got me water when I was light headed, a vomit bag when I was nauseous, was very understanding with my condition and always asking me how I was feeling. She made me feel almost like I was "home" in a way of that makes sense. She even made me laugh! I will never forget the way she handled my case and how compassionate she is. Thank you so much Stephanie for the amazing care you provided me with. It will forever have an impact on me. Don't ever change. read more
