Bench where he got his cleaning done.

Horrible horrible experience. If I can give 0 stars I would!!! I took my 12 year old for his yearly check up along with my 3 year old for his first dental visit. Upon arriving front desk staff were extremely kind and made me feel welcome. The unprofessional experience started when we stepped into the back. While X-rays were being done for both of my children, I handed the assistant HEADSTART paperwork that needed to be completed for my toddlers school. After X-rays my 12 year old was instructed to sit in a dental chair while my toddler and I were asked to sit in a bench right across from my oldest. While waiting, one of the assistants comes out and asks which child is the Headstart paperwork for, as if 12 year olds go to Headstart? I was astonished but proceeded to inform it was for my 3 year old, as it was HEADSTART paperwork. While my oldest was getting his cleaning , an assistant approaches my toddler and I and states she will begin his cleaning. I was confused as I thought he would also be put in a dental chair. I asked "the cleaning will be done in this bench?" As to what she respond "yes". I was confused but allowed her to continue. The assistant opens a tooth brush, brushes his teeth for about 2 seconds and says "done". My son at this point is left with his mouth open with excessive saliva and dental paste in his mouth drooling out. I immediately inform the assistant "my son needs to spit he's drooling all over his clothes" the assistant replies "he can go ahead and spit in the trash". I was SHOCKED. No tissue was offered, my son was not wearing a bib, not in a chair, no dental instruments were utilized. The trash can which he was asked to spit in was full to the top with dirty gloves, used bibs, dirty napkins. I was upset! I informed the Dr when he arrived and he had nothing much to say. To top it off when I was on my way home, already upset, I realize my toddlers school paperwork had been filed out incorrectly! Apparently they had filled it out with the information of my oldest, they whited out the name and wrote my toddlers name on top. The ink smeared on top of the white out and the DOB was never corrected. I now had paperwork with my toddlers name but the DOB of my oldest. Very very unprofessional!!!! I took the day off of work for the most horrible visit I have ever had!! Never going back.

Would not recommend: - Dr Massoumi crown work fell not even a month post op - i was terrified as a mom for putting daughter under GA, but to make matters worst they wake your child up and they cry a bunch because you are not by their side. Heartbreaking, my child was only 3. - anesthesiologist not even wearing a surgical mask!! - clerk in the front coughing and looking so sick but they had her come to work. And this all happened during the early times of the pandemic when everyone was being crazy cautious/scared. - mouth sore after coming back to get crown fixed, my poor baby was told it was "self injury!!" Good: - Gizelle was quick enough to get us approval to do our emergency procedure - Dr Capulong was really good with my child during procedure but was also the one had insisted that the mouth sore was self injury. They just gave us some gauze soaked in a solution. No antibiotic because it wasn't "infected." Overall, would not let my child suffer again by coming to this place. You save some money but go somewhere else where your children will be in good hands.

My kids actually enjoy coming here, which says a lot! The staff is incredibly patient and accommodating, especially with little ones like my youngest who aren't the biggest fans of cleanings. They take their time, communicate clearly, and create an environment that feels safe and supportive. Everything runs so smoothly--it's truly a well-oiled machine. Even the team members behind the scenes who handle texts, scheduling, and rescheduling are responsive and kind, which I really appreciate as a busy mom. I honestly wish I could come here as an adult! More than anything, I love that they're not just providing a service--they're helping teach my kids lifelong habits around dental hygiene in such a positive way. Grateful for this team and the care they provide!

However the three stars knocked off because the front desk is extremely rude. Right when you walk in, they ignore you and point to a kiosk to check in and don't make eye contact like they are avoiding you on purpose. Mind you I've only been here twice. And each visit was the same. They also NEVER answer their phone calls even if you leave a voice mail. Their main form of communication is text message. They reschedule through text and answer any questions through text. Also last time I checked out, one of the ladies at the front desk (couldn't catch her name) was talking to her coworker in front of me for like a good 3 minutes and it was completely unrelated to my visit. I felt like I was a burden burdening their conversation, and she asked me with the most annoyed tone if I was free a month out after they were done. Not "hi, I can help you right here" or "did you get everything you needed today?" Like I'm burdening you with your 3 minutes of conversation? The picture even says please DO NOT CALL. please tell me this a joke? What's the point of having a receptionist if I'm burdening them and they don't want to speak to customers? Text is NOT a professional form of communication.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at South Bay Pediatric Dental Group (Eastlake),…read morespecifically with Dr. Todd Pacofsky. I brought my daughter in for what was supposed to be a routine cleaning. I was asked to sign a form beforehand that was presented as standard for the visit, but it now appears it may have been used as broad consent for additional procedures. After the cleaning, Dr. Pacofsky told me my daughter had no cavities and that her teeth were healthy. The only recommendation discussed with me was sealants, which I agreed to. Before any work was done, I confirmed with the front desk that there would be no cost associated with the sealants. At no point was I informed of any other procedures or asked to consent to anything beyond that. Later, I received a bill showing that additional procedures--resin composite fillings--had been performed on two of my daughter's teeth. I never authorized this treatment, and it was never discussed with me. This is especially concerning since I was explicitly told my daughter had no decay. When I followed up with Dr. Pacofsky, he acknowledged that the work was done for staining, not cavities, and admitted that this was not clearly communicated or documented ahead of time. He also stated that resin composite was billed because there is no billing code for "preventive resin," despite the significant difference in how such procedures are processed by insurance. As a result, my insurance was billed for a procedure typically used to treat decay--something my daughter did not have--which raises serious concerns about overbilling and billing practices. I was also told by Dentist Todd that the front desk was unaware of the additional procedure because it had not been annotated in his notes. Despite being told the charges would be removed by Dentist Todd, I have yet to receive confirmation or resolution. As a parent, I expect clear communication and the opportunity to give informed consent before any procedure is performed on my child. That did not happen here. I would strongly advise other parents to avoid this dental office or make sure to ask detailed questions, request clear treatment plans in writing, and ensure they fully understand and approve any procedures before treatment begins.

I asked the receptionist how they would approach my son now that he was so traumatized by how the last clinic treated him, and I felt reassured in my son being able to find joy again at the dentist with how she walked me through their approach. So confident that I think our first visit was just a few days after the traumatizing visit at the other practice. We did some acclimation visits which were ALL on happy notes. Now, my son happily goes to the chair on his own, is not afraid of any instruments, giggles and chats with the hygienists and techs - and it only took just a few visits. His first visit was in January. Second was in February and he was still getting warmed up. I think it was his 3rd visit in March that really got the ball rolling. I don't remember how many in total he has been to between March and now May m, but I will say that it has been a complete night and day transformation. He is so receptive to trying new things at the dentist now. The staff really knows how to be personable with kids instead of rushing them. I have already recommended this practice to all my mom friends because of how much faith I have in this team in repairing my son's relationship with dental professionals.
