Been taking my kids here for years now. Their facilities are very clean, organized, and well run. The staff working are so great with both kids AND the parents. They are always so kind. Parents are always involved in the careplan of our kids. Dr. Pat carefully explains and shows you any work that needs to be done. My oldest child had a LOT of anxiety and fear of dentists. After 3 different opinions which all were similar and would result in me having to put my 3yr old under general anesthesia I decided to stick with CVPD, I was so nervous I lost sleep, literally. I had to get up and confront my son and tell him it was almost over. No one wants to see their 7 year old go through that. My daughter was 3 when we took her last year to get her first check up and ex-ray's. It was determined that she needed a mini Root Canal due to a bad cavity, honestly it's genetics I had taken such good care of her teeth since the 1st tooth. Anyway, we went in for the procedure and Dr. Pat is just AMAZING he took such good care of her and really explained everything so we knew what was happening. The procedure went really well and the only thing I didn't like was the huge silver crown they had to put on her to ruin her cute little smile. Dr. Nadia is a Gem amongst the pushy dentist's you normally encounter! She is amazing with my son's she tells them what is happening by narrating in a calm informative way that helps the kids to feel empowered! Super dentist wanted to have my son put under and have his tooth removed, Dr. Nadia watched the tooth did X-rays and it turned out his tooth was fractured (or bruised)and went from a dark gray back to white in a few months. A little over a year ago, I switched my children's care to Chula Vista Pediatric Dentistry from another dental office in the area (located off Otay Lakes Rd), where I was particularly tired of the overbooking and long wait times (which would usually go 30-60 minutes past our scheduled appointments). I selected this office based on Yelp reviews and am so happy with the decision. At each appointment, we are seen on time (sometimes earlier), and the overall office environment is more friendly, relaxed and comfortable. Yeah, there are no costumes and the office setting is not staged as an enchanted forest but office visits are certainly enjoyable and fun for the kids, as well as less stressful for me! read more

I'm going to be very honest and only share facts because I'm not on Yelp to run a business to the ground, rather, my goal is to share my experience so that other's are fully aware of all the good and bad of a business/office. Every time my son leaves his dental appointment I book his next appointment. It has always been like that - same process every time. On my way to his dental appointment I called to confirm his appt. They said he was not on their schedule. This is en route from work to pick up my son so we can go to his dental appt. As you can imagine I was highly disappointed and irritated to hear my son was not on the schedule. I took the time off of work to take him; we're a military family pepping for a deployment and taking time off of work isn't ideal. The staff person on the phone asks "do you have your reminder appt card? Did you take a picture of it?" and to me this conveys 1) the staff at CV Pediatric Dentistry do not trust their customers 2) we are now required to take pictures of our appt cards? shouldn't that be the last thing we are responsible for? By the looks of it when you read the other poor reviews of this dental office there's a recurring theme - the front office isn't doing it's job. Whoever is managing the appts, call backs, insurance, etc. isn't performing and clients are being disappointed. My personal suggestion, Dr. Rene (or whomever owns the dental office) takes the time to evaluate the overall operations of his dental office. Perhaps the dental care is superb and most of the improvements that need to be made are w/ the admin/operations dept only. Either way, on that phone call I wasn't offered to be seen at a different time on the same day/week, nor did they try and make something work so that we could be seen. It was just horrible through and through. Super disappointing. My only regret is that I've personally recommended this dental office to others and now I look like a fool. read more

I told her I call out from work & be with her the whole time & hold her hand & get her through it, she was scared. But Pat was awesome. He talked her & me through it & my girl asked a lot of questions & he patiently answered them all. It took about 20 min to get rid of 5 cavities & yes he got them all! My little girl couldn't believe it was over when she was done & was basically pain free. She is now not scared of the dentist! Well at least not her dentist Pat & is ready for her next cleaning & is thinking of getting braces ( I might have to find a second job now & work a lot of overtime or win the lotto) but I'm just happy her fear of the dentist is gone now thanks to Dr.Pat. I was referred to this dentistry by my boss. The process was easy to do. I called a few weeks prior to make an appointment. They made me fill out paperwork on line rather than taking time to do it at their office. The staff here were all nice and professional. My daughter and I got here an hour prior to 11 am just in case there would be any issues. The process was fast. My daughter ended up crying as they tried to take an x-ray of her back teeth. My daughter gagged and cried. She tends to cry as she can't express her feelings. She's only 5 years old, so the lady stopped taking her x-ray. They were professional about everything but when it came time to check out, they wanted me to come back with her in June. My daughter has a couple of cavities so they will do a procedure that will cost me $300. Ugh! That's a lot of money out of pocket for me since my insurance doesn't cover the procedure. The waiting room was nice and kid friendly which makes the kids comfortable before going inside. That was a bonus in my opinion. It made my daughter calm. Overall, I think they handled the process in a professional manner. My daughter was brave about everything and held my hand afterwards. I will definitely update my review after my daughter's procedure in June. read more

This review is for my daughter's 1st visit. I was a little nervous how she would react and be towards the staff but thank goodness they put us both at ease. Being 18 months she was afraid and unhappy at first but within seconds they got her to stop crying and smile. The exam and cleaning was thorough but quick. They also gave me so many tips that brushing and flossing my little one's teeth is now a breeze at home. Location: Rooms have all the normal equipment you would expect, with the addition of TV's in the ceiling and headphones so the kids can watch and listen to movies while they get there teeth worked on. Took our 8 year old & 20 mos old here based off of reviews & I'm so happy we chose them as their dentist! Loved the staff for their hospitality & patience. The waiting room is spacious & great for both the kids and parents - from the toys suitable for ALL kid ages, to the coffee station. As new patients that were scheduled on what already seemed like a busy morning, our waiting times were not long compared to what we previously experienced at another pediatric dental office that was fairly popular. Even when busy, it didn't feel like a lack of quality of care or attention. I highly recommend them!! Can't wait until our 5mos old is older, cause you know where we'll be bringing him for his dentist! I honestly wouldn't credit the bad reviews. Just by what was written, and based off my experience working in the medical field - they're those patients that feel entitled and don't understand or respect the time that's needed to operate smoothly in a way that won't impact the other patients that arrive on time. I can vouch for the office and say that verifying insurance can be a very time consuming process, which explains the importance of being responsible and providing that in advanced. An office cannot simply just "look it up" or call an insurance company to ask for it without a member ID at the least. Due to HIPAA (medical privacy law), they won't release specific information unless to the patient. Speaking of, the office called me a week or so before our appointment to verify insurance, which they weren't able to at first & I had the same problem. But with both mine & the office's persistence, we found a way - hence the amount of time it takes verifying insurance & the importance of providing it in advanced!!!! read more

I came here after I had my daughters seen at another dentist in the Chula Vista area. I wasn't happy with the first dentist and came here for a second opinion. I'm so happy I did! They did the actual cleaning that the other dentist claimed they did ( my daughters teeth weren't cleaned from the first one) an they did a good exam. I felt the dentist gave us a honest opinion and my little one was happy to be there. The hygienist that helped the cleaning was such a sweet heart and the office was so relaxing. Not HONEST!!! If you have HMO dental they will never get back to you and try to haggle you to pay more. Office told me that they will call back in a week after my child's initial visit to let me know what the payment was according to my child's treatment plan. They never called back, I called after 2 weeks and the office manager said that it will take 4-6 weeks to process my child's treatment plan with insurance. So I called our insurance and they said it doesn't take that long at all, our insurance gave me the info of our coverage right away. It took me a while going back and forth with our insurance and the dental office since the office wasn't doing their job. Sometimes they wouldn't answer the phone or if you need to talk to the office manager she's not available They also pushed for General anesthesia/IV and was charging me $1300 out of pocket for anesthesia alone. I got a second opinion right away the following week and the other dental office didn't push for general anesthesia since they were confident that the procedure can be done without it and if they had to it was half the price Chula Vista Pediatric was charging! read more

She was a bit apprehensive going in and I was nervous for her. The lobby was nice, clean and not too stimulating like other pediatric dentist office. We were greeted with a wonderful dental hygienist who assisted us into the room and had great information for toothbrushing. Doctor Nadia Bala came in and right away she was very sweet and had a calm energy for my daughter. I was surprised that my daughter let her clean her teeth and even floss. Brushing is one thing but flossing. This was my daughters first visit so I expected crying but none of that happened. I was super impressed with the service. I used to go to the Super Dentist in Chula Vista but have now change because I received an excellent service. I did the new patient paperwork online so when I got there I just has to show my proof of insurance and sign some papers I was in with the dentist in less than 10 minutes. I brought my daughter here when she was around a year & a half old, so back in December. It was her first experience with a dentist (obviously). I was prepared for the worst since my daughter is afraid of a lot of things. But the exam went great: the staff was able to look around her mouth, examine all of her teeth, and do a quick brushing. They advised me to have my daughter lay on my lap and have her head facing the dentist for the exam so she'd be more at ease.
