A steak and a chicken sandwich with tomato
    Bella F.

Found this Chilean spot and was pleasantly surprised. The sandwiches were delicious! Personally would've loved some lettuce and onion but that's just me. Chatted with someone that was waiting for a friend who said he comes all the way from Yonkers for the completos so we knew it was going to be good. The bread was also super fresh. Grabbed some empanadas and bread to go. Loved the Chilean sodas also. Looks like a small family owned business. Busy when we got there and frequent patrons coming. Would definitely be go back.

Amazing Chilean spot. 1) I very much enjoyed the bistec a-lo porbe. It was a steak with fries and eggs. I thought it was delicious. 2) I also got the pastel de choclo: which was a corn pie with eggs, ground beef, and chicken inside. 3) The empanada de carne was good. The Chilean style is different from other Latin American styles. 4) The completo grande hot dog was good, if you like lots of guacamole. 5) Mil Hojas and Alfajores were their most popular desserts, though it was good, was not my favorite to waste calories on. 6) They had this Chilean soda called Pap. It was fantastic.

Chilean Glizzies and a meat empanada with Pap soda

I never knew this place existed. I have a temp workplace associate who really enjoys Hot dog/Glizzies. I've pointed to dine at Hirim's in fort lee. And he loves destination dogs in new Brunswick. we've dined in the galloping hill road and jimmy buff's in Union. so we wanted to branch out and try international Glizzy. we ordered 4 completos and 1 meat empanada. overall we didn't enjoy the Glizzies. the mayo, tomato and avocado muddled the dog. also the bread was really stale and dry. gladded we tried but I would go back for the empanadas. I also requested the empanada to be heated up. CC accepted. nice local spot.

In my neighborhood, so I decided to check it out. Purchased 2 of the meat and 2 of the cheese empanadas. Took them home to eat later. The cheese empanada, the dough was flaky and good plus the cheese went well with the pastry. As for the meat empanada the dough was ok. Felt a little on the big side, but the meat was quite tasty and I would go again.

Delicious cakes! Torta Locuma for 15-20 people. Reasonable prices love it!

Love their bakes and cakes. Delicious and delightful treats for all occasions. I love their torta Lucuma con manjar. Hope I said that right. We've been ordering for 3 years in a row. Thank you for your services

I ordered food for Mother's Day and it was all excellent! My mother loved the Chilean cake and empanadas. I ordered empanadas, hallullas, and alfajores which were all delicious and tasted authentic.

Tried this Chilean bakery, great friendly Chilean service, got the churrasco it was good, got torta de mil oja, my husband had a completo. They have Chilean sodas and goodies they get it at end of month. I ordered two empanadas to go and they forgot to pack it, I called them and they said next time you come make sure you tell u I surely won't forget, I made a note on my phone. Close enough to home to get my Chilean Fix, they alternate what Chilean plates they do on a daily basis so make you call to see what the yummy dishes they have.

What can I say, they deserve more stars but I have no more choice hehehehehe, the clean place, the very good attention, the delicious steaks, the cakes all because I tried more than one and they are super rich, I can say and affirm that they are the best ones eaten in the United States, thanks because everything is exquisite, highly recommended.

Empanadas de Queso and Empanadas de Carne (x2) with hot sauce on the side

Located on the corner of a quiet residential street, Chilean Bakery has been serving the local community authentic Chilean fare since 2012--from Sopapillas and Cachitos to savory favorites like Completo and Barros Jarpa. The inside is small, but cozy; 8 tables are available, including 2 longer ones to accommodate larger groups. THE SAVORY: -Empanadas de Carne ($3.50/ea): I can tell it's home-made, partly because of the folds but also because of the size. They're rather large and stuffed with a truly savory and sweet filling of seasoned beef, onions, olives, raisins, and hard boiled eggs. I love the texture of the pastry itself, which is thicker and firmer than others I've had. Add some of their tasty home-made hot sauce for a spicy kick! -Empanadas de Queso ($2.50/ea): This was probably my least favorite empanada. The use of phyllo pastry was interesting, but the cheese was a tad thin and not too flavorful. -Chacarero ($7): Surprisingly good! It may appear ordinary, but the combination of tender slices of seasoned beef and fresh vegetables (sliced green beans and tomatoes) made for a great sandwich. Some of the juices from the beef made their way onto the the soft bread, adding even more flavor. The green beans are a nice unique touch. THE SWEET: -Chilenitos ($2.00): If you're a fan of caramel or dulce de leche, you will enjoy this. Between two biscuit-like cookies is a thick layer of manjar de leche with a coating of shredded coconut on the sides. The manjar had a great fudge-like texture and was the perfect sweetness. -Pastel Mil Hojas Chileno ($3.00): It's a phyllo pastry and manjar-layered torte; it's also known as Torta de Mil Hojas Chileno or simply Mil Hojas Chileno. Although I like the flakiness of the phyllo, I prefer the thin cookie/hojarascas of the Chilenitos. THE SERVICE: The family that runs this place is friendly and hospitable. Being unfamiliar with Chilean cuisine, I appreciate the time they took to explain the different sweets and savory items they offer. Weekend specials are available, which can be found listed on their social media pages. For those who live outside of New Jersey and miss their freshly made goodies, Chilean Bakery can ship their pastries to other states; inquire through their social media pages (especially Facebook) for more information. I will certainly return. The Churrasco sandwich looks and sounds delicious, as does the Completo. While I'm not fond of sweets, I'll return on a weekend to try the Berlines.

The portions are generous for the price, and the juices are amazing. The atmosphere could use some improvement. The music was a bit too loud, and while I respect and support the vendors who come into the restaurant, some were very persistent; not just at our table, but others as well. It started to feel a little uncomfortable and pressured. As for service, it was a mixed experience. The staff running food and cleaning tables were excellent, very attentive and helpful. Unfortunately, our server, Michelle, was the complete opposite. She didn't come to our table until about 20 minutes after we were seated. She took our drink order but didn't bring the drinks. We ended up waiting around 30 minutes, and even after finishing our meals, we still never received one of our Sprites. She also forgot our to-go order and never checked back on us, even though we clearly needed refills and boxes. Thankfully, other staff stepped in to help. Considering there's a service fee added, the level of service we received was disappointing. I really hope that fee is shared among the entire staff, because the rest of the team was doing a great job. Overall, the food saves the experience, but the service definitely needs improvement.

I found Rinconcito Latino, which would be along the route home, so we ordered via Seamless for pickup, one Saturday evening. The quoted pickup time was 10-20 minutes but I still had to wait an additional 10 minutes after that. But no big deal, it was prime time on a Saturday night, after all. To start, hubby and I split a chorizo empanada. I enjoyed this but feel like it could have been served with some kind of sauce. We ended up making our own chipotle mayo sauce to go with it, which paired perfectly. For my main, I had the Jibarito Sandwich (instead of bread, it's a sandwich with two pieces of plantains with your choice of meat in the middle with lettuce, tomato, onion and house signature sauce). I went with the al pastor since it's not something I can easily make at home. The meat itself was more like sliced pork chop than it was al pastor. It was a little bit dry but the flavor was good. Overall, I enjoyed my sandwich. The plantains were a nice update from regular bread. The sandwich was also served with fries, which were soaked with oil but I ate them anyway. He had the Fried Pork Chunks, which comes with rice and beans, which was pretty good. But, I do wish there was an option of yellow rice rather than just white rice - but not a deal breaker. The portions are pretty big, and we had enough leftover for lunch the next day. If you're craving Latin food and find yourself in the area, Rinconcito Latino is a great option.

To the left is a long counter/steam table behind glass. To the right is seating. Beyond the cashier is where desserts and drinks are stored. There is a rest room in the back. This is a relatively nice set up but it is also no frills. This space has clearly had several other identities over the years. My go to dish is rice with peas and pernil. I will also add in a side order of maduros. The rice is always delicious and perfectly cooked. The pernail is cut fresh to order as it sits in a steam table tray of its own juices. The crispy skin sits on top and they cut pieces for you with your order. Be sure to ask them to scoop some gravy onto your meat and rice! The pernil is perfectly seasoned. Not too salty, not under-seasoned and it has a great texture. It is never dry or chewy (in my experience anyway). The maduros vary visit to visit. Sometimes they are perfectly cooked and sweet, other times they are a bit too soggy. Just eyeball them before you order. While pernil is my "go to" dish, I have also had their turkey in the past. Turkey is hard to keep moist, even if it's sitting in a steam table tray of broth. I will say this, if you get it fairly fresh the turkey is tender and has great flavor. Again, eyeball it before ordering. There is staff turnover at Latin Soul, so my experience with the person serving me has ranged over the years. Years ago there was one person who was super nice and friendly. Then for a while a different person took over who seemed often eager for me to leave. More recently however the staff has been very nice and friendly. Your mileage will vary. Latin Soul is great. It's one of my favorite places to go on this stretch of Elmora. Definitely give them a shot!
