I have been coming here with great service. I don't know if everyone was having a bad day, even with the host. He didn't asked if we wanted a booth or table, directed us to a booth, but told him I wanted a table. He kind of seemed not happy with that. After being sat down, we looked at the menu to see what we wanted. A server was checking in on 3 tables. He did have eye contact with us but didn't say a word. 5 minutes go by. We both worked long days, we were just hungry and waited to put our orders in. No body came and the server with glasses still didn't do much. He could of at least asked if we were waited on. Man in a pink dress shirt, I'm assuming was the manager, seemed bored but rushed he came by because I like this particular one here in town but my brother was getting irritated. After 10 minutes, and I'll add, for a Thursday evening at 7pm, this place was slow. Hardly busy so there was no reason we should of waited. Walked out, told the server thanks anyway. Food is 2-3 stars, and the last time we were there the service was great, 4 star. It's a chain; the menu is too big. The fries are not bad, and their chili is a C+. Would be better if you could get onion with the cheese on top, I'll ask next time. Currently they have decent lunch promotions for $6/7/8 that aren't bad. Better than average kids menu with a lot of options for sides and beverages; unfortunately, my daughter did not care for the cheese pizza, she had better luck with one of the chicken tender variants previously. read more

Took my 9 year old grand girl out she chose the place. I had to send my south western egg rolls back they were over cooked and slightly burned and barely any filling appeared to me that changing the oil would have made a lot of difference as the second batch only changed that there was enough filling. The ribs were tender cooked perfectly a little too much dry rub I just scraped off.I was seated by the restroom and kitchen area when there was clearly a empty booth right in front of me.I started to make a stink but let that go to see what would happen later.They need to clean up better table was sticky and crumbs in the seats. What a mess! After waiting 15 minutes for someone to take our drink order, we had to go to the host stand where there were 3 people standing staring at they're phones. Finally got drinks and food orders in, had to make the same dish 3 times because they couldn't get it right. Just ate at the Coralville Chilis on An Iowa Hawkeye football game day. Food was good -service was horrible. We had a nice guy on his second day of serving and he was by himself. Ugh! Ate there Friday night, it was awful! Husbands ribs were scantly meaty with very little BBQ sauce, fries were oily and cold. I selected 2 beef tacos hard shell, Waitress collected menus and left. Came bs k several minutes later and said "I'm sorry, we don't have hard shells any more, are soft ok?" Since I no longer had a menu I said yes. That started me off on the wrong foot! The filling tasted more like BBQ than taco, scraped the two small servings onto my plate and set the soft shells aside. I used to go to Chili's once a week, but then I started cooking more at home and quit going. Last week, I went back for the first time in a couple of years. It was adequate, but not good enough to make me want to come back soon. The food I used to order frequently (lettuce wraps) is no longer on the menu, and the dish I tried instead was ok but not special. Just to show you how forgettable it was, I can't remember what I ordered even though it was just last week. Anyway, I recall it was good enough to eat, but not good enough to make me eager to come back again soon. My husband commented that the ribs he ordered were not as good as the ones he remembers having eaten there in the past. He used to really look forward to the ribs there, but after last week's meal there he commented he doesn't feel a need to go back any time soon. I remembered that I used to really like their strawberry margaritas, so I ordered one, but because I was driving I didn't want the alcohol. So I asked for a virgin drink. I was astonished when the waiter apologetically told me they no longer will serve virgin drinks. Really? He said it had to do with something somewhere in which kids were sneaking in their own alcohol and dumping it into the drink, so they decided to quit serving virgin drinks. This makes no sense, as they still will happily sell a person a coke, even though a person could sneak in their own rum and add it. I don't get it. The waiter told us it's a corporate policy, and as a chain store they don't have the authority to make exceptions. On the plus side, the waiter seemed fairly new, but did an excellent job. He was prompt about getting answers when we asked questions he didn't know the answer to, he got our order right, and he was very pleasant and efficient. Terrible service! I returned to Chili's because the last time I was there the food was awful and I complained and received a gift card from them, otherwise I would not have gone. I ordered food to go online and when I walked in the door the first thing I noticed was the floor was so dirty it was sticky, gross! I stood there for at least five minutes with several employees walking past me and not one acknowledged me, said hello or asked if I had been helped. Finally the manager came up to me and asked if I had been helped, I said that no I had not and I told him that many employees walked past me; his response was "I apologize " but nothing more. I definitely will not return or recommend this restaurant to anyone; the food is subpar at best and the service and cleanliness of the establishment is terrible. read more

I didn't know if I should write a review or not or just brush it off and forget about it but I realise that if I'm ever going to eat there again, I will want something to change, so here it goes: June 9th a male friend and I went Chili's In Coralville for dinner. Right away I felt unwelcomed. The hostess was pleasant - greeted us and then sat us down. It was mostly our waiter who I was not impressed by. Our food came out late maybe 10 - 15 minutes after the small family, who came in after us, got their food. Our waiter didn't bring silverware for us so my friend got up and asked the hostess for some and then the waiter gave an unconvincing apology to us as if it was a joke. He only asked if we wanted refills on our waters once! The whole time this was happening he whispering with the other staff members and then they would look at us and laugh a little. I felt very uncomfortable. A group of girls later came in and he was waiting on them more than he was waiting on us. He was polite, he got their food out on time and kept going to their table to ask of they needed anything. At this point, I was ready to leave. He checked on our table a total of 3 times. Once, to tell us that our food was going to be late, the second time to ask if we needed our water refilled and a third time to take our food away. I'm not sure why we were treated the way we were. Maybe because my friend has tourettes and they saw one of his ticks? Restaurant staff is supposed to make everyone feel welcomed, right? Well unfortunately I didn't. Just another Chain restaurant...Nothing really special about this one. I thought the food was ok and the service was decent. It just doesn't compare to some of the other chain restaurants in town or any of the local restaurants around. My biggest complaint would be the size of the tables. They are no bigger than a children's table. My family of 4 was very uncomfortable and the waiter couldn't even fit our four dishes and drinks on the table. The one thing that I really did like was the portable pay station at the table. It is an interactive tablet that allows you to play games, look at the menu, check out any specials and the best part you can even swipe your card to pay and it will print you out a receipt right at the table. This place is a joke. Higher prices than most other chilis and the customer service is the worst! No one talks to you or greets you, it took an HOUR to get one app and two drinks while dining in the bar area (mind you there were only three other people there) and when we asked for a water we never ended up getting one. Previous meals at this chili's have consistently been pretty good. However when we ate there this past Friday night we were blown away by almost every aspect of our experience. Their new fried pickles app was really good with their home style pickles and fried garlic pieces. Both of or burgers were cooked to perfection just the way we asked for them as well as everything else we ordered. The food just seemed much better than in the past and fresher. The service was HORRIBLE.. Went with my parents and we were sitting for a good 5-10 minutes waiting for someone to come to us but no one did until we had to call someone out. Our experience at this Chili's was horrible. We came here for dinner since it was close to our hotel. It took about 20 minutes for a waitress to approach our table even though there were only 3 other groups in the restaurant. Multiple employees made eye contact and walked by our table during this 20 minute time frame. We ordered the Santa Fe Crispers salad and the Southwest Chicken Caesar salad. Neither salad was made correctly. Both salads were served primarily with spinach, incorrect dressings and incorrect toppings. When we questioned the waitress she was annoyed took our food back to the kitchen and then returned with the same salads saying it was correct. Then proceeded to say "that's how we make caesar salads here with spinach." Another employee (I'm assuming the manager) approached our table and said their options for salads are limited and they just throw in what they have. He offered to bring out the same incorrect salads. We politely declined and asked for them to be removed from our tab. When we saw our bill on the table's electronic device we saw that they charged two of us $2.89 each for water. We had to wait for our waitress to approach us again to question those charges. Annoyed, she went back and removed the charges for water. The restaurant was dirty and the bathrooms smelled like sewage. We will never be returning to Chili's again. read more

I went here with a group of family members and was appalled at the quality of the food. The last few times I've gone here the food was ok, not great, but not terrible. This time it was barely edible. I ordered a new menu item, the margarita chicken bowl, but subbed shrimp since I don't eat chicken. The avocado was rotten, the rice was undercooked, but I guess otherwise it was ok. My mom got an ear of corn with her meal, and while it definitely isn't in season currently, you would think if it's on the menu it would at least be edible. This thing was so dried out I don't think I would have touched it if I hadn't eaten for a week! I mean seriously, just serve a salad instead or some mashed potatoes. Don't expect people to pay for something like that. Not once did the waitress come and ask if our food was ok, probably because she has heard enough times from others that it isn't. I sure hope my family doesn't chose to go here next time we all get together. read more

The food is good for a chain restaurant and throughout numerous visits the quality has been consistent. Located in (or slightly next to) a college town many of the wait staff are college aged. We have had both great service as well as downright terrible service. My husband and I went to Chili's last night for coffee and molten chocolate cake. The hostess sat us right next to the front door when it was in the high 30's outside. We placed our order and the coffee came within minutes....it was ice cold. The cake came about 5 minutes later, overall it was an unsatisfactory experience. We will NOT be back. read more

On a recent visit to Chilis (Coralville, Iowa location, May 26, 2016 ) I left the restaurant deciding that I not be coming back due to the state of neglect evident in the restaurant. Although the tile inert in our table was wiped clean, the wood part of the table top was sticky and greasy (evidence that staff was not concerned to completely and thoroughly clean the table.) The ladies rest room was a disaster: the floor was dirty and sticky, the room smelled, the wash basin was not clean, toilet paper and used hand towels were scattered on the floor: had no one the responsibility to check on the condition of the rest room that day? On my way back to my table I notice that the floors in the seated patron area was also in terrible shape. We were there at 5 pm, well before a heavy dinner crowd. I can only assume that management did not give a final check of the place before the dinner service. Given the appearance of the restaurant and rest room facility, I can only imagine that the kitchen & food prep areas were not in good shape either. Management oversight is more than just "slipping"; it is completely ignored. read more
