It's been a while since I been to a Chili's and since most of the TGIF Fridays closed down near me this is the next best thing to good ole American food that brings variety and comfort..BUT this location was an ultimate let down. Upon entering there was already miscommunication on the hostess part about seating us because he claimed our whole party wasn't there but WE were and he genuinely apologized which I can appreciate because people do not know how to communicate when they are wrong. Anyway we were seated party of 6 and our waiter was so charming and down to earth. We called him T but for the life of me I cannot remember his real name. Anyway he took out drink orders and appetizers. He brought out our drinks and I cannot remember anyone complaining but boy is it coming. When the appetizer came out we ordered chips, salsa and gauc and the trio which was southwest eggrolls, cheese sticks and sliders.. no complaints about the chips, the southwest eggroll were good and I didn't get the chance to try the cheese sticks and the sliders (lil cheeseburgers) were over cooked and stale. We placed our orders and about 4 people from my group ordered a variation of the cheeseburger and someone had steak and broccoli and mashed potatoes and I had the Trio fajita which included steak, chicken and shrimp. As we waited for our order the restaurant loses power and I assume started running off the generator which was fine, it was busy so the system was overheating! As our order began to come out and everything was cold! From the all the burgers to the overcooked steak to my fajitas! How do you bring out a plate of fajitas that ain't sizzling?!? It's supposed to sizzle!!! How do you feed someone a cold cheeseburger? And if I'm paying 27 dollars for some fajitas I expect it to at least be hot!! I'm so upset about this because this was supposed to be my dinner and I ended up at McDonald and I don't even like McDonald's! I was very disappointed with the food and service today. I was out in the Melrose Park area and decide to stop here at Chili's. It's a new location which has been open up for awhile now. Upon entering, there was no one at the front entrance to greet customers or to be seated. I waited a good 15 minutes as I looked around to get someone's attention. The woman behind the bar looked and kept mixing drinks. Now there were other customers coming through the door. We waited and waited until I had enough. I saw someone cleaning tables and politely asked could I be seated. Finally the woman behind the bar speaks and say someone would be up shortly. That should of been my cue to leave and spend my money somewhere else. I was seated and I waited another 10 minutes of my time. What can I say? I was hungry and ready to ordered. I ordered the Texas Cheese Fries and a glass of Cocoa Cola. My Texas Cheese Fries arrived and all I saw was a pile of melted cheese. There was so much cheese and a few fries underneath the mile of mess. I had to pull cheese back with my fork in order to get to the fries. The inside is nice and clean. Typically, I try to avoid chain restaurants, but recently I found myself at this location for the first time in years. We walked in on a sunny Saturday afternoon and were greeted immediately. We sat in a booth near the windows in the front of the restaurant. I don't recall our waiter's name, but he was pleasant and attentive. I was with my sister, and we shared an appetizer, chicken fingers, and dessert. The chips and salsa were just as I remembered. The chips were salty, and the salsa tasted store-bought. There was nothing authentic about it, but it was edible. The chicken fingers and fries were hot and tasty. We also had the chocolate lava cake, but it wasn't very good. We took a few bites and pushed it aside. Overall, Chili's was a decent choice for a quick lunch. The restaurant was clean, quiet, and comfortable. Last night we ate at the chili's in Melrose Park and it was horrible. We waited 20 minutes to be waited on. I had flag down a waiter (Jacob) who took our order. It took another 15 minutes to get our appetizers which were in correct, we ordered bbq boneless wings and received buffalo. Jacob took the buffalo and replaced them with bbq about 20 minutes later. We had t ask for drink refills. Our food came approximately 10 minutes later, we placed an order to go, which we didn't see for about 30 minutes after we asked where it was. They told us that they didn't have what we wanted and asked if we wanted to replace it with something else. Then we watched as all the servers went to ding happy birthday while our food sat in the kitchen. I guess we weren't a priority. It's Chillis so if you're coming to Chillis you pretty much know what to expect. While I didn't get food this go around. I sat at the bar to have a cocktail after a long my day. I was able to observe the staff. T the bartender especially. T was phenomenal. I appreciate being checked on. Good customer service has seemingly gone down in the hospitality industry and for some good reasons. However I do appreciate this staffs spontaneity. I like how well they all worked together. T was especially attentive to the bar patrons while also managing to get drinks out to the tables in a timely and professional manner. Good bar service is few and far in between. Filthy, Disorganized, and Truly Disappointing After a show, we stopped at the Chili's in Melrose Park for a late dinner..., big mistake. When we arrived, there were plenty of open tables, but none were clean. The hostess told us we'd need to wait 10-15 minutes for a clean table. Meanwhile, several Chili's employees were just standing around chatting, not doing anything to help turn over tables. After about 10 minutes, we were finally seated in the bar area. The table was sticky, and when I opened the menu, it was wet and slimy. I immediately put it down and used another one..., disgusting. We waited another 10 minutes before the bartender finally acknowledged us. She saw us sitting there the whole time but never came over until then, and she was apparently also supposed to be our server. We ordered simple drinks: an unsweetened iced tea with lemon, a glass of water, and a Coke. They put the lemon in the water instead of the tea and left no straws, no napkins, and no silverware. I had to go get them myself from the bar. The soup I ordered came out half-full and cold, and the Santa Fe Chicken Salad had no dressing at all. When I asked for the dressing, the bartender looked totally confused. I asked, "What's the standard dressing that comes with this?" and she just stood there, blank. At that point, I had enough and told her to take the food back, I didn't want anything from this place. She pointed to the electronic table tablet and said, "Your bill is on there." I couldn't find it. I asked her again, and once again, she looked completely confused. I gave up, got up, and walked out. Is this what Chili's has become? Dirty tables, bad food, clueless staff, and zero attention to customer service? Went in with a party of 7, we were notified that it would be a 2hr wait. We get put on the waiting list and we ended up waiting for about an hour and a half. That's fine not even a full 2hrs. We go in when they text us our table is ready and they tell us that the BEST they can do is split us up, Why would we all come together to be sat at different tables? Then we ask can we have the two tables right next to each other instead of across and the manager was EXTREMELY RUDE saying that she has no control over how many people came in and they didn't expect this many people to come. They had no servers for those EMPTY tables, I get it sometimes you're short handed but they should have at least offered better accommodations after a hr and a half wait. If they would have told us from the start that there was a chance our party would have been split up we would've declined the 2hr wait. This is probably the worst chilis I've ever dine in. Me and my mom waited about 15 minutes to get greeted at our booth and then an extra 10 minutes for our drinks. We just left this Chili's at this location, and we are very disappointed. First of all, it was our first time there and we were very excited to try the food. But everything on the menu was very salty, I couldn't taste any other flavor but saltiness and now my tongue has that weird feeling after eating too much salt. When we walked in we were told there was a minimum one hour wait to one hour and a half for a group of 6. We were seated after 20 minutes. Not long after we sat down we placed our order everyone one got their food except me. I sat there for at least 25 minutes after all the other food was served and had to go up to the server in the back and ask him if my food was coming out. He forgot, came by apologized and then maybe after another ten minutes came by with the food and a missing drink. Nobody really enjoyed their food since I was just sitting there waiting most of the time. I'd definitely not come back to this location.
