Not real milk/bubble tea. The first thing I see is that the menu either says "Smoothies" or "Over Ice" for the classic flavors. And then I asked the cashier if they have milk tea, and they said they could do any of the flavors on that list because they're made from powder. Yes, you heard me, all of their flavors are made from powder, even their so-called teas!!! I was so very disappointed, and I ordered the thai tea because I have tried instances where that powder base has been alright. I was proven wrong. It was quite honestly some of the worst milk tea I have ever had. I might as well have called it milk with a spoonful of thai tea powder. Chill bubble is not so chill after all. I have been here a few times and thought the drinks were okay. I mean I've had way better boba drinks but this location is close so I opt out for this spot. One major thing I do not like is they waste waste waste. I ordered a small boba drink and the young women made double the size. I asked if she could pour the excess in another cup and she replied: "no." -------------- "Wait, so you just made that huge drink and you're going to waste it and pour it out?" -------------- "Yeah we cant give out extra" -------------- I have been here many times and of course I am not looking for a free hand out. Anytime I have a craving for bubble tea I come here. They have an extensive list of flavors to choose from and not only that but they have flavored tapioca balls! The interior is clean and has plenty of seating. Staff is friendly and helpful. There is a large parking lot so no issues finding a place to park. Oh, and they're open til 10 or 11pm every day. I used to come here during my high school years when it was popular and there was no other chilled bubble tea is the area. Now with the recent trends of bubble tea, other places have created a new standard. I feel like the drinks are noticeably made from powder after having the "better" version. They actually thrive on the idea of having a good variety of drinks but it just lacks in the execution. The drinks now taste not as great compared to other places now. After 5 min as she was taking a sweet time with a mad look on her face and did not greet me or acknowledged me or even tell me she be right me, still no service. I've been a regular customer here for the past few months now, and I have noticed a few new staff which are always really friendly. I always get greeted and always told to have a nice day/night. The girls tend to be really fast when making drinks despite how busy it gets at times. The drink was amazing it wasn't watered down, and it was blended nicely (I get mango) I stopped in yesterday and the girls working there were friendly, fast and very energetic despite it being late. We ordered takeout sushi from next door and I thought I'd get drinks as well. My daughter and I love this place, and I wanted my husband to try it. The girl behind the counter was working alone so it took forever! There were several people in front of us and the poor thing was taking their orders and making their drinks too...all by herself. I think the ratings for this place would be much higher if people understood that concept... That being said, I like but don't love this place. Good flavors, cute space, but service is sometimes slow and the "blend" is sometimes inconsistent (ice is crunchy, powder grainy). It's been years since I've been to the first Chill that opened about 10 years ago on dempster. My fave combo then was the chocolate covered strawberry. I like that they continue to offer combo options, and allow you to make your own concoctions. I got almond, chocolate, and coconut. I requested more almond less coconut in my combo, and the server didn't give any fuss. Although powdered usually isn't ideal, this was blended real well without any chalky texture. I also don't usually like tapioca, or the bubbles, due to frequent inconsistencies. But I tried my sister's stawberry taro, and the tapioca was very soft, smaller in size, mild chew, and carried a sweet buttery flavor. Perfect bubbles! This will be the most honest review on this page because I actually worked there for 8 months at the Skokie location lol Let me say this, sometimes it depends on who is working to get the best drink. Several workers make drinks better than others, especially the special drinks. That is why there may be inconsistency at times Before you go! Just know that all the "original" drinks are made with powder. Even the watermelon, and cantelope flavor. The only thing made with real fruits are the drinks under the "fresh fruits board". Also please be patient! The line gets really long at times. 9 out of 10 there will only be two workers. To be honest I would never go here for a good bubble tea. It just cost way too much for some of these mediocre drinks when I can get a drink 10x better at joyees or something. I usually love this place! Their cantaloupe is reminiscent of a childhood candy! But today, they were closed. Even though the store hours on their door and Yelp said they're open from 11:30am.
