Absolutely 5-stars***** On a friend's recommendation, I tried Chillemi for 2 pairs of my expensive shoes. However, when I moved residences, I lost the ticket. Yesterday, I went into the shop. He said, "Do you remember when you brought them in?" Me: duh - no. He: "Do you remember the color of the ticket?" Me: duh - no. He: "We have many bags of shoes, but we'll look for them." The website says one of the services they provide is add holes on the belts or straps on purses, just left the place just now in disappointment because he said he could not add a hole on the strap of my purse I just want the strap of my purse shortened but oh he said he could not do it and to try the dry cleaning place because maybe they have the right tools. But don't they have the right tool because that's what their shop specializes on? Maybe he thinks I am asking for a freebie. But anyway this place is useless in other, unable to do the simplest thing to do, add a hole in the strap. read more

Recently needed a clasp replaced on my pool cue strap. I purchased the clasp from the "Buckle Guy" online, great resource for anything leather related. Walked into the store and was greeted with "how can we help you sir?" Told him what I needed done showed the strap and the clasp, he said it would be ready in 1/2 hour and I said I would wait. Plenty of comfortable chairs and very clean space. Within 20 minutes I was presented with the finished project and the price of $4. I thanked him, gave the man $10 and told him to keep the change. What should be better? The workmanship. Brought back a pair of shoes that had been resoled. Only a few days after the initial repair, the new soles began to separate from the upper. It was a glue issue I was told. Retrieving the shoes a second time, I pointed out right then and there how the repair of the repair still showed a separation of the sole from the upper on one shoe. No, it's fine I was told. It's not fine. I'm taking my shoes elsewhere and so should you. read more

I relied on my shoe guy in Hartsdale- but come to find out, he's no longer there and left me looking elsewhere. I've known about Chillemi Shoe Repair when it was located at the run-down White Plains Mall in the downtown area as well as through my neighbor- who's cousin with the owner here. Now, the shoe store has acquired a multi-use building on Church St. Parking in this area sucks- but you just might be in luck with something upfront. The owner mentioned there's street parking around the corner or you can sneak in and park at a nearby private commercial lot while you drop off your shoes- as long as you make a mad dash back to your car. Recently, I brought hubs' brown pair of shoes that needed tips on the soles and heels. I could've gotten the metal kind- but I feel those make shoes super slippery. Rubber it is. Since hubs is currently working hybrid, he's relying more on his Axel Arigato casual rubber shoes and less on his dressier kind. Plus his dressier ones have taken a beating from non-stop walking at the campus, walking on concrete, gravel, etc- making his heels and soles wear down faster. Service was excellent, I waited for hubs' shoes on the spot and at $8 for top and bottom tips, price wasn't bad at all. read more

There are a good cobblers and not so good cobblers. I've only taken one pair of boot/shoes to Chillemi so far, but from what I saw, they appear to be good cobblers. During the week, day-to-day, I wear dress shoes. I buy them from two manufacturers - Alden and Allen Edmonds - that both offer "restoration services": you send in the shoes, and they send them back to you in pretty much "like-new" condition. It's a wonderful service on which to rely, and - given that they're the manufacturers of the shoes - their repairs are uniformly excellent. So, when I need a cobbler, it is (usually) for a boot or shoe that doesn't offer such a service, including my much-beloved 20+ year Filson upland boots. Over the years, I have had resolings done that were only so-so. So, I have tried to look for cobblers with better reviews. After looking up "best cobbler in Westchester," I brought my Filson boots in to Chillemi in White Plains, and they came back great - the resoling (with Vibram soles) was done well, and they even polished the boots! I wouldn't say the people at the store were overly outgoing, but they were engaging, nice, straightforward, and friendly enough. The fellow doing the repairs looked like someone who really knew his craft and had practiced it for quite a while. It wasn't inexpensive - $75 - but it certainly is impressive-seeming work (only time really tells with a shoe repair, but nothing so far suggests the repair is anything other than first-rate). I'd have given Chillemi 4.5 stars if the system allowed. Based on what I have seen, I will be back. read more

Have to say, pretty disappointing experience with these folks. Brought in a pair of shoes for new heels, new insole, and a shine. Was told to come back three days later. Three days later, after searching for parking (which is TERRIBLE), I walked in. First they couldn't find my shoes. When they did, the work had not been done. They were sort of apologetic, made up some excuses and then insisted they would do it immediately, for pickup the next day and that they would call me. They never called me. I waited another four days and went to the store. Again, after dealing with the horrific parking situation, I parked illegally and went into the store. They did the heels, but forgot to do the insole and forgot to give them a shine. No apology whatsoever. I'm just not sure what to say here. Maybe I caught them at a bad time? I don't know, but there wasn't a hint of contrition whatsoever. I have to believe they just don't care that much. I can't see using them again. read more

I have never been to a shoe repair shop before and I had a wonderful mom-and-pop shop experience. When I walked in I wasn't sure who to talk to but was swiftly directed to the right person. I thought my shoes needed work done- it turns out they just needed a shine! I was in and out in less than 10 minutes! What is more- THEY DIDN'T EVEN CHARGE ME! I was so confused and asked again how I should pay but the man said "Don't worry- have a great day". Meanwhile, I wanted my watch strap replaced, but I have a very specific idea of how it should look and feel and despite their selection I couldn't find what I was looking for in that department. They have replaced my watch battery before though, and it was done the next day. My dad took it for me. I highly recommend patronizing this shop. read more

But none of them are as good as Chellimi Shoe Repair. For me, it's worth the longer drive to come here. The guys (I think they're brothers) there always know exactly what needs to be done to repair and maintain my shoes. Their prices are competitive and they stand behind their workmanship. I have gone to Chillemi Shoe Repair several time, usually for belt repair. The previous time, I went to have my black belt reconditioned and after paying about twelve bucks, they gave me a green slip. A couple of days later, I went to pick it up and gave them another belt to punch an extra hole which they did at no charge, cause I am losing some weight around that time. In my recent visit, I came in and took out my brown belt to fix the stitching that is coming off and paid them four dollars. I came back the next day and it is ready to shine as I walked out to enjoy the rest of my day. I will one day get my boots add a new sole, knowing that Chillemi's is the best there is. read more

I can't believe I did this : paid $23 buck to let someone destroy my $500 shoes!! It took them 3 months to repair the shoes, I went there total 3 times to finally get my shoes back. They said the the owner was sick, I understood and was very patient and didn't push them. But when I saw the shoes, I almost cried! My dog chewed one of the shoes on the heel very gently and only the leather on the heel got tear off, so I went there and asked them to wrap the heel with new leather. 1) They took off the whole heel, wrapped it but didn't wrap all the way to the edges, you can see uneven leather cutting along the edge and they just glue it at the edge! Gosh! I never see anyone doing things like this. Not only super ugly, the glue along the edge exposed and will soon wear off and the leather will fall ! 2) after they took off the heel. They couldn't put it back! Now the shoe and the heel has big opening and at the bottom you can see the heel is sticking out!! 3) when I put it on, the heel is wobbling. I paid $500 for heel because it's steady and comfortable. Now I paid $23 to some one to destroy it. This store only good to repair cheep shoes, never ever send your expensive shoes especially heel to them. Although they have been in business for so long, they don't have skills to do good job. read more

I wasn't ready to part with the shoes yet and figured I would get them repaired instead. On the walk in to the plaza I was going over in my head how to best tell them that I needed my shoes back ASAP - however this was all moot. The service was friendly, and I was in and out of the store in less than five minutes with a fixed (and reinforced) heel. They didn't even ask me for a penny! Just got four VERY expensive pairs of men's loafers reheeled and/or resoled (Alden and similar). Opted for the more expensive leather outsole on one pair, which was worth it. The Goodyear welting is perfect...WAY better than what you get out of the factory from a place like Allen Edmonds recrafting. No nicks or scratches on the uppers. I've had shoes resoled here in the past as well, and the high-quality leather they use lasts for years of normal use. I won't bring my shoes anywhere else! And I have a lot of pairs. read more

I didn't have the greatest experience here. I brought in a boot where there was a hole in the toe. They told me it would be ready in a few days. I go to pick it up and it's not ready because they don't have the leather. They tell me to come back in three days. This happened three more times of me coming back and forth without my boot being ready. Why they couldn't just take my number and call me I don't know. Also, the repair they did lasted maybe four weeks and these are not boots I wear every day or walk in for extended amount of time.
