The fried rice is one of the best I've ever had. It includes all proteins, and the flavor is vibrant. It has all the colors, and is really appetizing. Tastes as good as it looks. I had the Saltado too. It was good, but I don't understand the fries in the dish. It kind of feels like a Latin American poutine. They're soggy, but tasty. I couldn't get over the texture, but if you can, they're great. Slightly expensive IMO. read more

One of my favorite restaurants here in the cities. I don't have much to compare Ecuadorian cuisine to but this restaurant is fire! My go to order is Encocado which is either a Mahi Mahi or shrimp in the most delicious coconut sauce served with rice and sweet plantains. Chefs kiss! Everything I have tried has been great and they don't take reservations but have never had to wait too long for a table. Circa 2015 - but just went there in 2024, still the same as I remember it! Now, I'm not an ecuadorian myself, so the authenticity of this place relied on the waitress explaining that their staff and regular customers are ecuadorian and love this place. That said, I am known to be a very picky eater. My favorite food is Italian, and I can hardly stand Mexican food (unless it's Chipotle). Driving up to the restaurant, we had one member of our party begin to wonder if we were the bridal party about to get food sickness in Bridesmaids. However, walking into this restaurant opened my eyes to what I should've expected. It was amazing smells the minute you walk in. The staff was friendly and amazing, our waitress took care of us very, very well. I had the Guava Mimosa and Churrasco with steak and I loved it. I devoured it! (Argentinian Malbec ‍ ) We got a plate of Yuca Frita to split, and then I got the Saltado (Flank Steak) for my entree. It was listed as one of the menu's spicier items, so I was drawn to it. At first it seemed mild, but by the end of the meal the heat was there! It wasn't a burn your tongue hot... and I didn't need to seek out water. I was just hot in the face. First of parking will be tricky for this place so you are going to want to be vigilant for any parking spots to open up. After walking to the front of the building we saw the note that said main entrance in the back si also be mindful of that! We walked in and to the left you'll see the bathrooms. You continue down this hallway and will be greeted! We immediately got sat down and realized there is a bigger space right next door for more seating. After looking at the menu I realized it was going to be a very tough devious because honestly every single dish looked so so so so good! Even our server said that's one of the hard things is choosing 1 but that honestly you can't go wrong with any of them. I had the steak with fries which came with rice, bean, plátano frito, an egg and a green sauce. It was really delicious in flavor! I would say if you are hungry hungry order this as it's a big portion compared to the other dish. I also got to try their specialty that day which were scallops and shrimp in a coconut curry sauce. First time guest for lunch. Very welcoming staff. Our server was quick to point out favorite things on the menu. My friend and host is from Ecuador so she helped with some input as well. The Yucca fries were great as were the fried plantains with Chimichurri. Both entrees were flavorful and came with the similar sides of steamed white rice, glazed sweet plantains, Chimichurri and a tomato red onion salad. All very fresh tasting ingredients. We ordered the chicken something and the lamb rib something. The chicken was good, my lamb was amazing. Tender, hot, and delicious sauce. Rice, beans, lettuce, onions and a delicious green sauce. Our waiter said it was for anything and everything. We used it all. A nice bite but truly mellow. Of course with such a good price we had to have the de Lucé cake for desert. Also very good. Came here to Chimborazo last night with a large party and quickly realized I had been here back in 2019 when I was living in Minnesota for the summer. The place is a cute little restaurant with a surprisingly large number of tables inside, and a cute outdoor area with a covered tent. The staff were extremely friendly and kind, and were accommodating to our large party. They pushed tables together for us and we were sat immediately which is tough to find when you have 8 people. On to the food, I ordered the Churrasco which is Flank Steak, with Rice, Beans, Fried Egg, Sweet Plantains, and French Fries with this incredible green sauce. What's even crazier is that this all costs $17! This was just an incredible meal, and is definitely in my top 10 Twin Cities eats and at such a humble location. The steak was a nice flattened, grilled piece of meat with incredible seasoning. It went perfectly with the green sauce which has a nice, strong flavor, along with a tiny bit of kick. The French fries were awesome, a little fatter than I am usually into but still soooo good! Egg, beans, rice all perfectly balanced out the meal. And then my absolute favorite: sweet plantains were so yummy. Sweet plantains are a must eat for me anywhere I can find them. I love the sweetness in the middle of the meal to balance out all of those savory flavors. This Ecuadorian restaurant, in North East (just north of Lyndale on Central), exceeded my expectations. The food, service, atmosphere, and prices were excellent. We started with a been empanada, which was filled with cubed beef in an excellent sauce. I was surprised that it was not ground beef, but this version was really tasty and not too filling. It comes with a tomato and onion side, as well as their green sauce. Highly recommended. My wife had the Seco de Pollo, which was chicken stewed with bell peppers, and onion. "Stewed " doesn't sound good, but I tasted it and it was immensely flavored and tasty chicken dish. She's picky, but she loved it. I had the Chrurrasco flank steak that had an amazing smoky charred flavor and was tender and flavorful. It comes with a ton of sides including fried plantain, onion/tomato salsa, fried potatoes (better than french fries), white rice with a soft egg on it (yummy!), and beans. You certainly get your money's worth. I also had a juice called Guanabanna, which is a tasty, tropical juice and it went well with the meal. Been back several times since my last review and each time has presented a good experience. Given that food and service have been consistently good, I've got to add another star. One of my recent faves, which I've gotten more than once, is the Chaufalan, Ecuadorian Fried Rice. It's extremely flavorful and hearty. For me it's a lot so I either get it to share or just enjoy the leftovers. I do wish there was more shrimp, but I understand it's not cheap so I'll take what I can get. They have opened another side to the restaurant since I had last been and that was great to see! It's always very busy when I have gone. This place always hits the spot when I'm in the mood for some authentic Ecuadorian cuisine. Their yuca fritas are amazing - very crispy with a tasty dipping sauce. I always ask for extra sauce. For the entrees I'd highly recommend the Encocado- the fish was flaky and tender and covered in an aromatic coconut sauce. Went to Chimborozo for the first time last night with my wife. My wife was very hesitant and did not want to go but it was my birthday this past week and I insisted. Our server was outstanding and told my wife not to worry, I am here to help. We started with Sangria which was fantastic and a couple empanadas. Those were so on point and delicious the salsa verde that came with put the empanadas over the top. I ordered the Lomo Saltsdo and my wife ordered the Chaulafan. Both dishes were amazing. The sauce in the Lomo Saltado is so good I was in heaven. My wife enjoyed the Chaulafan so much she stopped talking and just kept eating. For desert we had to try both the chocolate cake and tres leches. The chocolate cake was really heavy chocolate flavor and a little much for me but the tres leches cake was absolutely heavenly. I think I had a tear in my eye it was so good. My wife enjoyed the chocolate cake so we were both happy. Our waiter asked my wife at the end of our meal how did she enjoy Chimborazo?
