decided to check this place out on a random tuesday night and man did it not disappoint!! we got the Picada los Andes as our entree and the beef empanadas. the entree was HUGE. it was actually the perfect sharing plate for two people (with enough food for leftovers) and for $24 that was such a steal. this place is such a gem. the people were incredibly nice, attentive, and SO friendly. highly recommend. they have really cute christmas decorations too. they have homemade hot sauce that's super tasty but not too spicy

What a cool spot! First thing that stood out was how immaculately clean the restaraunt presented. Surprised to learn Los Andes has been in operation for more than four years and from our experience their quality has stood the test of time. Sitting at the bar top I feel gives you the best interaction to learn about what makes a place great or unique and Los Andes delivered our bartender gave great insight to the menu given it's a family run restaraunt and she was from Columbia she helped us navigate the different dishes and pairings. We had a blast conversations and learning. Food was delicious especially loved their hot sauce I would suggest getting adventurous and try a few options. Though make sure you pick the Yuca fritas. Also happy hour goes till 7 PM now that's amazing 2 for 1 cerveza!

I came to Los Andes with several friends for a quick lunch because of its central location in uptown. It was nice to try some different Latin dishes I had never had before. Because it was lunchtime, the restaurant was pretty open and service was fast. I also enjoyed a margarita. I tried the New York Strip platter and the vegetarian platter and they shared the same beans and rice sides. My steak was cooked perfectly, but was just a little tough with non-rendered fat pieces. I loved the plantain and avocado served with it and also enjoyed the beans but thought they lacked salt. Other than that, the experience was great and I would come back again.

When I'm travelling, I try to find local restaurants that offer something I can't get at home. Empanadas are one of these foods that I could eat every day for the rest of my life and never tire of them. Other google reviewers had great things to say about the empanadas at Los Andes so I decided to try them for myself. And mannnn....these are THE TRUTH! I got the empanadas mixto (one beef, one cheese and one chicken). As you can tell from the photo, each protein choice had a significantly different appearance that help distinguish which one is on. I like the touch of chimmichuri sauce they included, as well. I have saved this location for future trips to the area. If you're on the fence... don't be!

The food here is very, very good! Flavor, authenticity and richness, so, so good! The servers and waitresses are excellent in what they do. They tend to ever very well. We enjoyed a variety of dishes and they were all good. The ambiance is very welcoming, friendly and well lit! I will knock off some points for 1.) Although the Seafood soup (caldo de mariscos) was delicious, the potato bits have nothing to do in this dish, unless they are fresh. These potatoes seemed to have been boiled three days ago. Tasteless and almost crunchy, not good. But the soup was excellent. 2.) Don't come here when they have soccer games on the t.v. screens. The noise is deafening! Too loud, wayyyyy to loud. I prefer a little less noise blaring from the t.v. 3.) Although it is labeled as a "Peruvian-Colombian" restaurant, it is more of a mixed Latino Bistro. The Ceviche is about the only Peruvian dish they actually have. Also the servers stated that it is more of an Ecuadorian restaurant. But the food is very good!

A lovely restaurant in the heart of LynLake neighborhood. Los Andes highlights the cuisine of a number of South American restaurants. The cocktail menu features a few drinks you might expect such as Psico Sour and Margarita, but also included some unique takes on traditional drinks. My Pisco Sour was both aesthetically pleasing and tasty! As a vegetarian, Latin American restaurants are challenging so I was pleased that they offered a vegetarian plate with a sampling of beans, corn cakes (arepa), plantains, rice and more. unfortunately it was fairly bland. One of my friends finally asked for some of their house hot sauce- something I should have done right away. It greatest improved the food. I am at a loss as to why they don't offer that or their chimichurra like sauce with this platter. add that and this meal would have been perfect. My friends tried the soltada and a variety of fish dishes plus appetizers. Many raves! I would recommend as a restaurant that meat eaters can take their vegetarian friends to and make everyone happy, but if it is just non-meat eaters I would go across the street to Trio.

This is a great place to go have dinner with friends! We came here for a semi-celebratory occasion and had a really nice time. I'd been here before so I recommended it to my friends, and they were rightly impressed with the food and the lively atmosphere. The Ceviche Peruano is a particular treat for the taste buds, with its mound of seafood shreds sitting in a pool of flavorful citrus marinade. My friend had Farm Hen Soup which seemed straightforward but he devoured it with visible delight. He also got something called a "Tree Tomato Slurpee", which sounds like you'd only drink it on a dare but it was actually a delicious, sweet, creamy dessert drink. This time I ordered Picada Los Andes, which is like an awesome meat tour. All the different meats on my plate were uniquely flavored and cooked really well. Whatever you order here, make sure there is Yuca Frita within reach at all times. We ordered one for the table, and we maybe should have ordered a second one so that we could all indulge a bit more. We came in on a Friday night without reservations, and there was live music and dancing. As we were leaving at around 10:30, there was a line to get in. They have their own parking lot just off Garfield, but that fills up quickly so you might have to park on the street anyway (like I did this time). Also, if you're there at peak partytime, you can expect the music to be loud. But based on the food alone and from personal experience... I recommend recommending Los Andes.

Food was very good here and nice atmosphere. Front of the house was very nice but it was a little difficult to get a refill on the water - they were pretty busy though. Food was delicious although I found overall most restaurants in the area were overpriced for what they were - not just specific to here. Would definitely try more of dishes as everything was cooked perfectly and the flavors were great.

This place is awesome. Family owned. My brother works down the street and when I visited him for lunch we did take out for here. That time I had the whole fried trout. Wow....so flavorful. Now that places are allowed dine in, took the family. We all loved it. Son had the chicken wings, mom and I had the mix empanadas and yucca fries. Those alone filled us, but we plunged on to mains and we were so glad we did. Dishes are fresh, and full of flavor (not heat). The goat was well prepared. Cooked perfectly. Nice and done, easy to eat off bone (not dried out or been sitting in a hot steam table for hours). I had the shrimp and fish in a coconut sauce. Wow. So good and so glad to have the rice to absorb the lovely sauce. Wife ordered the lemonade. It was freshly made. She loved every drop. Other items to note. We were served with cloth napkins, heavy duty silverware, and real glassware. This place pays attention to detail. If you order takeaway, they have a hot box they keep it in until you arrive (unlike someplaces that just put the bags behind the receptionist in a take away bag). We will be back!

Our server was very pleasant and attentive, refilling our waters before we asked. Very satisfying. The sauce on my chicken (seco de pollo) was rich and savory, the rice perfectly cooked and the fried plaintains perfection. If I lived in the area, I'd become a regular!

This is the kind of establishment where the food speaks for itself, and there is a lot of it on your plate. Humitas - These corn tamales are just as good, maybe even better than Chimborazo's. If you have a group of four or so, get these so all can have a bite, and you won't get filled up before your entree arrives. Patacones - We loved these! Who doesn't love mashed fried plantains? Add the cheese to them, you won't be sorry. Arepas Con Carnitas - These were wonderful. Two on a plate, and could honestly be a whole meal. I can't recall what the sauce was on them, but that was quite good. Carne Apanada o Asada - This was enjoyable. the breaded steak (round steak I think?) was unadorned with any sauce. I was a bit concerned this was going to be dry, but adding some of the rice and beans to your fork made it plenty good. Speaking of beans. I have no idea how they make them or what ingredients they use, but these really are the best beans I have ever eaten in MPLS. They are so good that I would just order a bowl of these beans and a couple of arepas and be perfectly content. Please support this restaurant and stop in for lunch/dinner. You will not be disappointed.

We especially enjoyed how conversation-friendly it was here. If you're looking to catch up with a friend, this is a great option! As for the menu, you'll find both Mexican and Ecuadorian options. Starting with the beverage offerings, you'll see many flavors of Jarritos, agua frescoes, and some Ecuadorian sodas. I tried the Tropical, which was delicious. Pink and fruity, it was not too sweet and had a little dose of je ne sais quoi. I really liked it! I saw empanadas on the menu, and while I have had them before, never have I ever seen them served with sugar. Of course we ordered them. They were awesome. Exactly the right balance of crisp and tender, the pastry was a delight. (Definitely sprinkle a little sugar on it.) The salty cheese provided a satisfying little cheese pull and went beautifully with the sugar, too. They also go great with the hot sauce, which is a must-have. It's acidic and bright from the vinegar and has a satisfying heat that tickles the tongue and goes great on everything. The plato vegetariano was the epitome of simple and satisfying: potatoes in a delicious and herby sauce; a fresh salad of lettuce, onion, and tomato; a fried slice of plantain; a mound of perfectly-cooked rice; and a cup of beans. It was comforting without being heavy. The dessert menu featured familiar favorites and one that was completely new to me: higos con queso. While I went with the flan, I did get to sneak a bite of this unusual and intriguing dessert: the figs are poached but retain their firmness and are served with a firm and salty cheese. The figs and cheese come with the poaching liquid, which is not sweet but also not quite savory--it's got quite a depth of flavor and makes for a truly unique dish. I recommend it if you prefer to end your meal with something that isn't super sweet. (If, on the other hand, you prefer a more traditional dessert, the flan here is lovely: a bit sturdier than some you may have had, it's got the right blend of sweet and caramelized--it was just right!) Street parking is available nearby, but if you come later in the evening, it will probably park up. This is a great choice for families and friends!

While Ena doesn't have a scene or even a bar, the food at this family-owned establishment is fantastic, and I have eaten a lot of Latin American cuisine. Originating from Mexico, the French-trained owner/chef prepares Latin fusion dishes with flavors that burst alive. With a delicate yet crisp crust, the Birria Empanadas are amazingly flavorful, and the meat's juices have a wonderfully piquant taste. They're the best empanadas I've ever tasted. Chef-Owner Hector Ruiz's cooking reflects both formal culinary training and a clear respect for heritage, with sustainability woven into the way ingredients are chosen and treated. Seafood plays a leading role on the menu, handled with clear confidence throughout. Chiles and ají amarillo set the tone, sharpened by pickled onion and lime. Balanced heat, clean acidity, and texture that stays true to form. Everything a ceviche should deliver. - Pasta de Langosta: Pappardelle with shrimp and lobster, well executed. Comforting without feeling heavy, this dish pulls together technique and flavor in a way that feels purposeful rather than indulgent. - Pescado: Blue and yellow corn-crusted red snapper paired with mole poblano and roasted tomatillo-guajillo salsa. The interplay of acidity, warmth, and depth complements the fish without overpowering it. Served over a crisp polenta cake with caramelized mushrooms, it's a smartly layered dish that stays focused. - Spanish Flan: a creamy vanilla custard with glossy caramel, accented by lemon-infused whipped cream and strawberry sauce, closed this meal on a high note. The cocktails strike a solid balance--spirited, and playful. The beverage list spans wine, cocktails, mocktails, beer, and seasonal offerings. A meal that stayed with me and IMO, worth adding to your next dinner rotation.
