When we first moved here in 2020 we knew the fireplace had been neglected. It was a priority for us to have a functional and safe fireplace. We got a couple of quotes. One of the other companies left soot residue all over our furniture and quoted us $1500 more than the others. Chimney Bear gave the best quote and was the most knowledgeable. I didn't feel like I was being sold things I didn't need. We have used Chimney bear for a couple of years now. They did a new liner, some masonry, our gas conversion and now we use them for gutters too. They always have excellent communication and advice. They do great work, are polite and punctual. I wish I could give them no stars. All was fine at first. They came out and performed an inspection, which I paid for by check, and provided me with an estimate for repairs and tuck pointing which I thought was too high. I asked for a revised estimate for the repair work only which they also provided, and I accepted. They then wanted a deposit using only a credit or debit card. I prefer to pay by check so I declined and offered to drop off the check at their office to which they agreed, so I scheduled the job. The next day I got a text saying they would not accept payment by check. ( but they took my check for the inspection) I replied to the text and informed them that I would not be doing business with them, and, requested the photos that they took, and said would be provided with the inspection. They said that they had been sent with the original estimate which was not true. I asked them to please resend them and they refused stating that they were unable to resend them. Considering that they had already renigged regarding payment, I think this was an outright lie. read more

Called for a quote on a cover needed on a vent on the chimney, the lady on the phone was real snippy, and said we don't just do what you say, we MUST preform a mandatory 200 dollar inspection ( cheaper one available to check just 1 part) ... insane to force this but ok I'll play along.. then how much is the cover I already know I need... she says, gonna be at least 300 dollars... so wt minimum 500 bucks to put a cover on a vent.. absolutely insane, and when I said this she really got snippy and said ,good luck finding someone for cheaper, we are all the same, I told her I had a hot water tank literally just installed for 500 and she proceeds to tell me, oh, those are normally 3000 to install.. I didn't even get to continue talking more and she made sure to hang up... between the rip off pricing and the rude ass lady, I def won't be giving this place any business. I knew I would have to pay a couple hundred for a vent, but come on, the gouging is enough. read more

We have been in our new home for about a year and half now. We never used our fireplace the first year only because we never really had it checked over. Asking our neighbors and reading reviews form 'Home Advisor', we decided to get a free estimate in October. Andre came out to check over the chimney both inside and out. I really thought the work that would be needed would cost thousands and thousands of dollars. Andre wrote up an estimate after spending a good time examining what we had. He explained what he saw that needed work and explained why the inside fire wall was damp. He gave us a great estimate for under $2,000. He explained to us what was needed right away and what could wait for maybe 2 to 3 years before problems got worse. He never quibbled or gave us a difficult time what we would like to have completed within our budget. Chimney Bear was more than happy to work within our budget. They arrived Here Monday April 27th, right on the scheduled time of 745 a.m.. ALL work was performed better than i=our expectations and there was NEVER an increase in the price after the estimate given a few months before. After the job was done, Chimney Bear cleaned up and the area was cleaner than when they arrived. WE soooo HIGHLY recommend Chimney Bear and Andre. They are truly a professional and honest company. We recently moved into a new house and even though we had a thorough home inspector we felt it was important to have it inspected by fireplace professionals. Our fireplace was cleaned and inspected, both roof top and via camera. We received a detailed report with photos. We paid additionally for some cracks to be filled in with mortar. Outside of the somewhat long wait before the actual appointment (i think they were booking about 4 weeks out when i called), i have ZERO complaints or concerns. During a recent high wind event, the rain cap on my chimney blew off into my neighbors bushes. I searched for chimney repair near me and found Chimney Bear. I filled out their on-line request form on Sunday morning and Samantha, the office manager, responded by e-mail 6 minutes later. She quoted a price for a new rain cap installed. She explained that most rain caps that come off are rusty and the screw tabs break. My cap was still in pretty good shape but the price she quoted was very reasonable so I asked to set up an appointment for the repair. She got right back to me and set it up for Thursday. I received several reminders with all the information for the repair. Thursday came and I received a call from Matthew, the repair professional. He indicated he was running ahead of schedule and asked if it was ok to come early. I told him that would be fine. He came early and assessed my rain cap which had blown off. He said it was not in that bad of shape and he could re-install it however he could not warranty the repair to re-install our old cap. I told him I understand but to re-install it. He re-installed our rain cap which saved me the cost of the new cap. I am pretty confident it will be fine. He said he screwed it in well and also caulked it which is better than the initial install which lasted 30 years. My overall experience with Chimney Bear is excellent. It is refreshing to deal with a company that responds quickly and does exactly what they tell you and does it when they tell you they would. Even though the job they did for me was pretty simple for them, I would not hesitate to recommend Chimney Bear due to my experience. read more

Be careful of this company. I called for two reasons to get my chimney cleaned (I have ceramic logs) and to get my flute with a handle easier to open by a chain. The office manager proceeded to tell me that it would cost $195.00 to $200.00 to get the chimney cleaned. She told me they couldn't do anything about the flute except replace it and that would be $600.00 to $700.00. I then called 6 (six) other chimney companies; four that day and two the following morning. They all told me a chimney does not need to be cleaned when you have ceramic logs and that I would not need a new flute and a chain is a simple installation for approximately $200-$300. A couple of the companies are close by and offered to do the estimate for free. The others even though they were far away were less than $100 for the estimate. Not one single company was over $100 for the estimate. This con artist is only in it for the money; I can't believe they would charge such an exorbitant amount for just an estimate. Do not get taken by unnecessary expenses such as they tried with me by saying my chimney needed a cleaning with ceramic logs. I called back the office manager to tell her what the other six companies told me and she got belligerent with me. She called me so many times that I had to block the phone number she was calling from. Before I blocked the phone number I hung up on her and she called me back and started insulting me and the other companies. I am a senior and I don't think anyone of any age should be taken advantage of. They had done work in our condominium units before for only two other unit owners who were satisfied mainly because they didn't compare with other companies. As president of our association I will make sure all unit owners are aware of what rip off artists they are. The owner tried to turn the story around and have me lose credibility, but yet I am simply warning people to not get taken in when there are so many good companies out there that have reasonable prices and won't stoop to their level. It's a simple phone call to be forewarned and compare. They know they are in the wrong; yet they try to justify it. read more
