No show. No call. We had a day lined up with Chimney Genie to have an estimate for some chimney work. They never showed up, and there was no call or answer when we called at the office. Tried calling again 2 days later, and no one answered the phone or returned our message. Unreliable. First impressions are everything. Especially in business. Probably one of the most disappointing interactions I've had with a local business. I'm not a huge fan of writing negative reviews, but when they're warranted, I feel like it's necessary. I contacted them on Monday 10/15/18, telling Tony I needed my wood stove cleaned and gaskets on the doors replaced. The owner told me he needed to get the gaskets and asked when I wanted the work done. I told him as soon as possible and he told me they'd be at the house Wednesday 10/17/18 between 10-12. On Wednesday, around 9am, I received a text saying, "No gaskets Or permatex Maybe tomorrow So your cleaning will be bumped to Friday" I told him I wasn't comfortable rescheduling until he was sure he has the gaskets as I couldn't afford to block out my schedule only to be cancelled on again. He apologized for the inconvenience and told me he would contact me when he found the gaskets. On Sunday, 10/21/18, when I still hadn't heard from him, I reached out again. He tells me, "Nothing yet I've tried ordering them from Sleepys Nobody has anything Been trying all week Lowe's May have them" and he sends me a screenshot of the gaskets on the Lowe's website. I tell him I'll go to Lowe's and buy the gaskets which I did that same day. Finally, on Thursday, 10/25/18, him and his workers came to clean the stove and change the gaskets. I had our newborn son, so I needed to leave the room during the cleaning to avoid the dust. When they called me to tell me they were done, they walked out. When I checked the stove, I saw that they hadn't replaced the gaskets. I asked Tony about this and he said "Oh did you want them to change the gaskets?" He got his guys back in to change the gaskets. When they were done, they told me I couldn't open the doors for 24 hours because the permanex had to dry. That seemed reasonable so I thanked them and they left. 24 hours later, I went to open the doors and realized they had put so much adhesive on the gaskets that it actually sealed the doors shut. I was able to pry them open which actually peeled some of the finish off of the stove. I also realized the doors weren't closing properly and not all of the gaskets were replaced. Part of one of the front doors was not complete and the side door wasn't done at all. I immediately reached out to Tony and told him the doors weren't closing. His immediate response was, "There new gaskets They have to settle in." I told him this made no sense at the doors were a full inch from closing as he could see from the pictures I sent with my original message. Then he tells me, "The tech is tell me the gaskets you have are to big You need thinner 1s" Of course my response was twofold: First, I bought the gaskets he sent me the picture for and why would his tech install gaskets he knew were too big?" At first, he was defensive and told me, "You bought them I just installed them." Then he called me, told me not to worry, and said he would come by tomorrow to personally fix the issue. I told him the main thing that made me upset was that when my wife tried to build a fire, the room filled with smoke with our five month old child in the room, but that yes I did want him to come back and fix the issues. Unfortunately, I had an appointment during the time that he was able to come, so my wife had to let him in. When I came home, to my disappointment, I quickly realized that he only replaced the gaskets on the front doors but ignored the side door. I contacted him to ask about the side door, and his response was, "I don't know - I didn't have enough gaskets" This was on a Saturday, 10/27/18. I have not heard from Tony since to resolve this issue. I had actually forgotten about this and maybe I would've gotten around to writing this review at some point. However, tonight, while my wife, son, and I were laying on the couch, two puffs of smoke exploded from our black pipe that extends from the stove to the ceiling. This tells me that his techs clearly didn't properly clean and/or properly reassemble the pipe or maybe they didn't clean them at all! read more

This company did a NO SHOW and NO CALL Three times on me. I had to call them to see where they were and if they were still coming, only to find out they were "backed up busy". The owner is one of the most responsive, honest, and knowledgeable tradesmen I have ever dealt with. The crew did a full inspection, identified potential CO issues and presented cost effective repairs that would likely prevent the CO alarm from going off (due to blow back from wind). They didn't hard sell me, or use any scare tactics to drive up price for a potential job. They were on time and prepared for the inspection - I called with an emergency and they responded asap.
