I wish I could give this place six stars and I wholeheartedly recommend them. The short version: John's honesty and integrity are outstanding. Even though I live over an hour away, I'm going to continue servicing my car here, because that's how much they've earned my trust.
The long version: A little over three years into a new car, I started to hear a noise, so I brought my car into a mechanic my friend knows to get it checked out. I was quoted $400 for a new part, plus labor. I got a second opinion and received a quote of well over $400. I mentioned this in passing to my uncle, who suggested my car was too new for that kind of work. My uncle said he swore by John and gave me Chimney Rock's number. I told the person over the phone what was going on, the diagnosis I received from the other mechanics I spoke to, and some information about my car. A little while later I got a call from John. He said he was confused about the details he heard and that he would be surprised if I needed the new part. Then, he asked me a series of questions about the noise the car was making and said he could likely fix it in an hour. He thoroughly explained the problem over the phone and the work he needed to do. I was struck by his explanation, as well as his questions. Neither of the two mechanics I spoke to asked for that much information or told me much more about the problem, even after putting my car on the lift. I looked up the issue online, and the more I read, the more I believed John.
I decided that before spending $400+ on a repair, that it would make sense to ask John to look at it in person. I couldn't be happier about that choice. John briefly drove my car around then told me about how he was going to resolve the issue, with exactly the same explanation as before. Less than an hour later, John was done and the noise was completely gone. Not only did he correctly diagnose the problem over the phone, he fixed it in less time than he thought he would and charged me less money. I ended up paying $65 where I would have spent over $400 elsewhere. On top of it, John and everyone else I interacted with in the garage was extremely friendly and patient.
