I just had one of the worst medical experiences of my life at Dr. Freda Chin, the eye doctor in Patterson. She was one of the rudest, unprofessional and ableist medical providers I've EVER met in my life. She refused to move equipment or even attempt to accommodate me-- despite having prior knowledge of my being disabled. She spoke to me condescendingly, and acted like she had no duty-of-care to offer me anything more than the bare minimum. If that wasn't bad enough, when I asked her for a referral to another doctor that could accommodate me, she refused to offer any suggestions and acted like she knew ZERO doctors anywhere. She shrugged, shook her head vigorously and backed away like I was a rabid zoo animal. It was horrible and dehumanizing. I left 2 minutes later. I will be reporting her to the board. read more

Recently took my grandson to see Dr.Freda Chin. When we were waiting in the waiting room I asked if my grandson could look at the glasses. The receptionist said yes but because of the insurance he had they were in a box behind the counter. I thought was very unprofessional, like we're bottom of the barrel. Only like 10 to choose from by the way. When Dr.Chin came in the room, no smile and barely said hello. Every question we asked her seemed like she was irritated and that we were bothering her. Will never go back here again. Left with his prescription and went to Costco to get his glasses where we were treated right. If I could give this Dr. 0 stars I would. bought some new glasses,in dr.chins office .as I was picking a frame I seen a pare that caught my eye ( no pun intended) in the office these frames look like they were tope, but when you took them outside, they turn pink because of the sun. I spent 444.00 on lenses 2 1/2 months ago. My insurance covered my frames. The frames cracked yesterday (no fault of mine) and the lens fell out. Unable to find the lens in the grocery store. Was told by the person selling me the glasses that these frames were durable. Now she wants to charge me for new lense and better frames. ANY frames a Dr. has should last more than 2 1/2 months or the Dr's office should NOT recommend them at all!! When calling the office, I received nothing but attitude! I was referred to Dr. Chinn office from my insurance company. The front office and back office staff are amazing, knowledgeable and friendly. All of them were wearing masks. I had given the office my medical history and I am considered a high risk medical patient. I wore my mask, made sure I stayed away from others. Then Dr. Chinn gave me my eye exam. She was not wearing a mask, so I assumed she was vaccinated. After the exam Dr. Chinn began talking about how masks give her anxiety. This made me feel uncomfortable. Then she began talking about how her children are not vaccinated and that she has vaccine hesitancy. I felt trapped and just kept agreeing with her in hopes that I could get my prescription and leave. However I ended up purchasing glasses there and never received my prescription. I will never go there again now that I have picked up my glasses. Even now I have made an appointment at Kaiser to get another prescription that I can actually keep.. The reason I give Dr. Chinn's office one star has nothing to do with her staff but everything to do with Dr. Chinn herself. I wish her staff well and hope they are prosperous. My health is more important than me continuing to subject myself to a doctor with vaccine hesitancy. read more

Office Staff & Dr. Chin - Amazing I have to say, they are amazing. They took their time with me and my son. My son is very picky and does like to move around a lot when he gets excited. The staff along with Dr. Chin were so patient with him and helped him find a pair of glasses that he loved. When it came for me and my husband to get glasses, they were amazing as well. My husband is Spanish speaking and both staff and Dr. Chin made a wonderful effort and got him a prescription that he can finally use. This was the worst experience my husband and I have ever had should of gone to Target our any other place they mislead my husband into buying thousand dollar glasses and when he got them the bifocals were almost to the top he couldn't use them brought them back same-thing and they had to redo them to make the just reading glasses but would not give him back the money he only needed reading glasses but was lied to and they charged him all this money and told him he could only come back twice is this sick we spent a lot of money here and they never said anything tried to blame him and told him he could buy reading glasses for another one hundred and fifty dollars we should sue them they are unbelievable the worst read more

This lady is the antithesis of friendly, went for my first visit, very unwelcoming atmosphere from the greeting staff to the actual Optometrist herself. My guess is if you don't purchase her retina exam, then you're just treated like another number. She walked in to the room after the girl that takes your blood pressure and instead of introducing herself, she goes "hey" lol, talk about professional right. Then I'm told to wait 30 minutes while she finishes up with another patient which was annoying, when she finally wraps up she just yells ok, come back here. She gives me a pair of trial contacts which she refused to give me the prescription for, really weird lady, never going back, will give someone else my business in town, I normally like to give people the benefit of the doubt, especially in a small town but this experience really turned me off. read more

I ordered a different frame totally different from my last frames...I pick up my glasses today and they are almost identical to my old frames...not even the same brand that I ordered...plus I had them make sunglasses with my old frames and they cut the lenses too small! I was given the choice to pay $60 fitting for contacts or to do glasses. I was told either would be covered by my insurance, that I could actually do both if I wanted to. I opted to do the $60 fitting for contacts. When I called to order the contacts after my 5 day trial fitting i was then told my INS only covered 90 days. I asked why wasn't I told this when i was offered the option of contacts and was talked circles around. I asked to have a manager contact me. I spoke with Cindy who continued to talk circles around me about the fee and the fact I can still get them if I want them. She insisted the lady who helped me states she did tell me ins would only cover 90 days - why would i be surprised and outraged that I paid $60 for a fitting for 90 days worth of lenses if I was already told. Why would I even make that decision? She said they have the information on paper that she was looking at - I asked did I sign that paper showing I received that information? She said no, they dont have the patients sign that- BECAUSE YOU DONT GO OVER THAT INFORMATION. Had i know that I would have saved the $60 and stuck with glasses. I asked her could I speak with the doctor and she refuses to let me speak to her. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!! Terrible customer service. Need to find a new optometry. read more

I have been with Dr. Chin since I was at the end of my high school years (over 10 years now). She took over for my previous Optometrist, which was quiet the task, as I had just recovered from a serious Hospitalization and Optic Neuritis (I had gone completely blind in one eye). She made me feel comfortable at a time when I was afraid to switch to someone new, that did not originally diagnose me. Dr. Chin has been amazing and always is very clear and thorough about explaining to me what is best for my eye health. I now live 2 hours away from Patterson, but refuse to switch my eye doctor, as she knows my history and is just all around amazing. The only reason I would switch is if I were to move out of state. However, I scheduled a Saturday appointment with her nearly 8 weeks ago because she is rarely opened on Saturday and I even had to request a day off for the visit only to receive all call the exact week of my appointment to inform me that she won't be in on Saturday.
