We had lunch a few days ago at the China Wok restaurant and left a review because of the outstanding food served and service by our waiter Juan Carlos. The food was so good that today my wife and I decided to go back again for lunch. We were seated at a table and our waiter this time was Oswaldo Carlos. Oswaldo was very friendly and attentive to our needs as was our waiter from our first visit. We learned that our waiter today, Oswaldo, was the son of waiter Juan Carlos. This young man was amazing! His father should be proud of his influence on his son and the owner is blessed to have both on staff in their restaurant. I haven't had Chinese food for a very long time. Everyone kept saying that there's no good Chinese food here in the desert so I didn't even try. However, I always drive by China Wok in Palm Desert so I thought I'd give them a try. I ordered asparagus chicken using their online app. They texted me with the approximate time that my order would be done which was really nice and then another text came in saying that it was done. The entrée was very delicious and hot. A little bit on the oily side and the portion was on the small side for $20. The only issue I have is I won't be ordering online anymore. They charge a fee of $1.90 just use the app. And didn't tell you in advance. I will be going there again, but I will just call in my order. read more

We have been eating at China Wok for 14 years, their Orange Beef is the BEST on the planet! All the food they serve has been 9-10 on a scale of "10". The bad news is we go there less and less because it is always uncomfortably warm/hot. When I ask for the fans to be turned up I am told they don't go any higher and the A/C is doing "all it can". I have worked in the food business for 35 years and the MOST important trait of a successful restaurant is NOT "cost out" it is profit in! "profit in" comes from satisfied and happy customers returning. The owners may be saving $ by not updating/upgrading the comfort for the customers but, in the long run, they will lose money by losing satisfied customers. read more

It's not easy finding a good Chinese eatery in Coachella Valley but I think we did it! China Wok doesn't dazzle you with ambience (but what Chinese restaurant outside of SF does?!?). But the food makes up for it. The pineapple fried rice is as good as it gets. Best of all, it's served inside a carved-out halved real pineapple -- great for presentation and flavor! The sweet and sour pork is prepared perfectly and the sauce is just how it should be. Another hit is the string bean chicken. The beans are perfectly cooked -- not mushy but crispy and the sauce if flavorful. The chicken is cooked to perfection. We have more to explore here and will keep coming back. Only downside foodwise was a ho-hum wonton soup. We ordered a full bowl and sadly only got two mediocre wontons. Only two! And the broth is overloaded with cabbage. If it were "cabbage soup" it would've made sense. The other dishes still make up for it and earn this gem a full five stars. read more

I got this food Uber Eats to me. I was impressed. It was still warm when I got here. The portions were very healthy for the amount you are paying. I really enjoyed the chicken noodles. I also got the general Tsao chicken. I found the dish to be not as flavorful nor spicy. I felt it was a bit dry, but it could be because I did get it delivered so there was time between cooking and getting it to me. The service was very fast though getting it into the Uber so I do appreciate that. read more

My first reaction was - dang! EXPENSIVE!!! $80 for three people, and only four entrees. I went in to order takeout and already knew what I was going to get as I had looked at the menu online. I now know they have a way to place mobile orders, but the wait wasn't that long, so I have no complaints there. It was around 4 pm, so they weren't that busy yet. The people were friendly enough and efficient, which I appreciated. Getting in/out of the parking lot is also easy. The food was good and served its purpose. I asked for non-spicy orange chicken, but it still had a bit of kick. It wasn't a significant hot spicy kick, but it was there. The people I was eating with felt the other China Wok was better, but that might be because it was take-out versus eating in. We did have leftovers, so the servings are plentiful and help that $80 price tag when you get a couple of meals, or a meal and 1/2 out of it. read more

Excellent service and food. Each dish at the table had its unique flavor. They did not taste the same. Absolutely would come again.

We are regulars but do not visit often during the summer as the place is too hot for both their workers and guests. We went there this week to see if it has improved and saw our waiter wearing a neck fan to cool himself down while working. We asked if they could turn up the speed of the ceiling fans and were told that management prefers it to run at slow speed to circulate the air. But, when the AC isn't cold enough to start, hot air from the open kitchen is spread throughout the restaurant and were sweating while eating dinner. We've always loved their Orange Beef and Crispy Wings - but when its too hot inside before we even eat, it never goes well. Maybe we will be back in the fall... but definitely not going back soon. read more

I was excited to see a Chinese Restaurant between my work place and drive home. I stop in after a long work day. Ordered to go for myself and two family members. We are all huge fans of Chinese food. General Chicken, supposed to be it was not. Not even close. At first glance we thought it was Orange Chicken. The Mongolian Beef ok. The order of Vegi Spring Rolls was soggy. The Wor Wonton soup broth lacked flavor, it was bland. I gave a $13 tip before leaving. I have never left a review on Yelp before but all four items on my order was lacking in some way or another. The only perfect part was the girl behind the counter. She was very nice and double bagged the order. I was disappointed. Our food was just average, it was considered a half serving. More veggies than actual meat. The service was average, I had to ask for a extra napkin, more water, the waitress was not very attentive to the Coustomer. When we got seated I was telling my wife that it's kinda empty in here, usually in the past this restaurant would be full of Customers. Panda is probably better at this point. Another thing is they now charge you to use your credit or debit card! I was shocked, our meal was an extra 6 plus dollars just for using our debit card! I asked why are we being charged an extra 6 plus dollars to use our debit card, the reply was " it's the owners decision " then she pointed out a sign that was maybe 4x6 in size, and she laughed while pointing it out to me. We read the reviews and noticed a lot of the low star reviews had to do with delivery of this food, and not the food itself. So we decided to give it a try. It's in a shopping center, there was plenty of parking. it's bigger inside than I realized. A gentleman offered to seat us right way when we arrived. The place is very clean and feels family ran. The menu's were well used, but that was fine by us. Our server was very nice and was able to accommodate our request to order a few items not spicy. We got full servings of the items we ordered since the price difference was only $4 between a half serving or full serving. The food came out quickly and they gave us great service. We enjoyed everything we ordered, vegetable Tempura (not spicy), Chicken Moo Goo Gai Pan, Vegetable Lo Mein, and Orange chicken (not spicy). It was way too much food, but we really enjoyed the meal and took home the leftovers. The staff were nice, and the food was fresh with fast service. If you are looking for a nicely ran place to get Chinese food, I would recommend China Wok. Was this the best Chinese food I have ever eaten? No. But it was good, the place did everything I would expect. The quality of the food matched the price, and for that reason I believe they deserve 5 starts, and I would certainly go there again. read more

I am a regular customer and order online about once a week. Usually I go pick up the order, but today I couldn't get out of the house, so I opted for delivery. Door Dash gave terrible service. I requested a time for delivery of 5:30 pm. The food arrived at 6:09. The food was cold, so had to be heated up. The driver spoke no English and just giggled at me when I tried to ask him why it took so long. Lesson learned about delivery. If you want your food hot, it would be quicker to just pick it up yourself. The food is normally great, but since it was cold and had to be reheated, it kind of lost something. I'm disappointed to the point of anger considering the poor experience. I wish I could remove the tip as I don't feel the driver earned it, but it's not possible. This is our "go to" for Chinese food in the desert. We usually go in during lunch, but have gone in for dinner too, and that's when it seems to be the busiest. We have done takeout and delivery from this place as well and it's always been extremely consistent . My favorites are: Mongolian beef, chicken asparagus, sweet-and-sour chicken, combination fried rice and their chicken and spinach soup. Other great dishes are: orange chicken, honey walnut shrimp, beef, and broccoli and their vegetable spring rolls. If you like soup, you cannot go wrong with the chicken spinach or the wonton soup... Both are excellent! When we do dine in, we always have great service :) It's located in a strip mall near EOS gym off Washington and country club Drive . Parking can be a little tough since it's next to a gym, but it's worth the try!!! read more

Sadly, the war wonton soup had vegetables that were undercooked and only a few wontons that were not tasty. The combination chow mein was 'meh'. Green string beans should have been good but was seasoned with black bean sauce and was disappointing. The mu shu pork wraps were only average. The service by a male waiter was excellent! It's what's coming out of the kitchen that is so disappointing... We've found that there aren't many good Chinese restaurants options in the Coachella Valley --- gee whiz, we aren't that far from the LA / Monterey Park / Alhambra area where there is excellent Chinese food! read more
